Goodbye Kindersley!!!

Who would of thought that a city boy like myself could have enjoyed his time as much as I did in small town Kindersley?

I came to Kindersley from Edmonton knowing pretty much nothing about the SJHL or the Kindersley Klippers. The main thing was, I knew it was a chance to call hockey games, and get my foot in the door with my 1st full time radio gig.

I came to Kindersley as a 19 year old fresh out of school, looking to make a name for myself, and I feel like I was able to do that. I made alot of friends in this town, but the most friendly people by far were the people around the hockey rink. The entire Klippers family, welcomed me with open arms and made me feel right at home.

First off I am going to miss the players and the staff. When you go on the road with a hockey team you spend so much time with each other, you become great friends. Being in the same age group with most of the players, it was almost impossible to not become friends. Their are alot of great kids playing on the Klippers right now, who have really bright futures. I wish them all the best moving forward.

Rockie Zinger and Chris Forsman have also been great to me and allowed me to feel like I was part of the team. I know alot of Kindersley fans are critical of the coaching staff for the way the season has gone but their is a few things I want people to remember. The team last year was built to win it all and unfortunately they were not able to. With 9 players leaving last season, the cupboards were empty for Kindersley heading into this season. Rockie Zinger and Chris Forsman have done their best to try and restock the cupboards and rebuild so that this team is strong for the years ahead. Their is a ton of young talent on this club right now, and I really feel they are headed in the right direction. I really do feel that alot of the back lash that Zinger has gotten is unfair. It's hard to judge someones coaching ability when your team is so young. Having said that it will be up to Zinger to make sure these kids develop and full-fill their potential. Some people forget that Zinger is a young coach also, and still developing his coaching skills. In the off season when the players look back and the coaching staff looks back, it will serve as a great learning experience. Next year will be a fresh start with everyone on the roster right now having the potential to be back. Sure you can be upset with the way the season has gone, but the team has been set up very nicely for the future, and I would like nothing more than to see this current group of players and coaching staff bring a SJHL Championship back to Kindersley.

I have had alot of people ask me what my new job will be, well I am going back home to Edmonton. I have accepted a news job at 630 CHED and iNews880. Some of you may be surprised to see that I am taking a news job, but this is a great way to get my foot in the door. I really do enjoy doing news, as my other job away from the rink has been broadcasting the Kindersley morning show news for the past year and a half, which I have really enjoyed. Having said that, my goal in the long run is to get into the 630 CHED sports department. They cover alot of sports at CHED, including the Edmonton Oilers, and Edmonton Eskimos broadcasts, along with a number of sports talk shows. I'm starting out at the bottom, but with my experience I have gained during my time in Kindersley, I feel I can climb the ladder in the near future. I will get to work with some of the best radio talent in Canada, and I feel that could go along way in my radio career. My goal is to still one day head back into the broadcast booth, and who knows what job openings may be open in play-by-play come next season.

There are alot of people I want to thank for helping guide me along the way here in Kindersley.

I really want to thank the McGrath family. Kelly and Daryl McGrath have been like my mom and dad away from home. I don't know how many times they have had me over for supper while I was here, they even let me stay at their home for the past month, during my time of transition to my new job. They are great people, that have really helped me along the way. Thank you so much for the hospitality, and I will miss the both of you.

Having said that about the McGrath family, I also have to give a shout out to my buddy D Jay McGrath. Me and him really got to become good friends over the summer while most of the players were back home. He has become one of my best friends, and just like his parents, he is a great person. I'll miss ya buddy!

I want to thank all the fans and parents for reading my blog over the past two seasons. I developed a passion for blogging and it was because of all you fans that checked in everyday to read what I had to say. I'm just a young kid with an opinion, and it meant alot to me to hear how many of you enjoyed reading this blog.

I am going to keep this blog open for now so I can look back and reflect on my time with the Klippers. In the long run I may start up another blog, or switch focus with this blog, but for now it will remain pat with this final post.

They say once you've been a Klipper you're a Klipper for life. I never wore the team sweater but I know I'll always care about the team. I'm no longer the broadcaster but today I become a fan.

Shootout Win In Yorkton - Klips End Nasty 12 Game Losing Skid

- That nasty losing skid is finally over for the Kindersley Klippers, more on Sundays victory shortly, but 1st we shall recap Friday and Saturday contests.

- Friday night in Yorkton the Klippers were dropped by a score of 6-1 by the Terriers. Kindersley stuck with Yorkton through 20 and after the opening frame the score was 0-0. After 20 though the game changed. Yorkton would take their game to a higher level, and Kindersley was unable to match it. That and the fact that Warren Shymko was very good on the night for Yorkton, turning aside 33 of 34 shots faced.

- Saturday night out in Melville, not so good for the Kindersley Klippers. A number of players were benched, and the team had no answer for the Melville trio of McNulty, Trudeau and Mireau. The 3 players combined for 12 points in the contest.

- Sundays broadcast was my final radio broadcast with the Kindersley Klippers. Before 5 minutes was even through in the contest, Kindersley was down 3-0. I was about ready to leave the broadcast for a moment, head down on to the bench and tell the team to wake up myself haha. I really wanted the Klippers to win the game for their own sake and also to make for an exciting final broadcast. Little did I know, it would be the perfect finish for both the team and myself.

- Colby Daniels who was one of the players who was benched for Kindersley on Saturday night came out and played with a big chip on his shoulder. Justin Lund said it best during the 1st period intermission, Daniels was upset that he was benched, and wanted to go out and prove himself. He learned from the situation, came out in the 1st period and scored a goal and an assist. He really held the Klippers in the 1st frame, grabbing the bull by the horn, and scoring a late 1st period marker to give the Klippers some much needed life heading into the room.

- I felt that the turning point in the game for the Klippers was when Brennan Bosovich dropped the mitts early in the 2nd period. Bosovich is not known for fighting, but he wanted to set the tempo early in the 2nd and he did just that. The Klippers were fired up on the bench, and they ended up scoring 2 goals to tie the game.

- Brad Buckingham scored the 3rd Klippers goal. It was a 2 on 1, he had the option to pass, but was confident in his shot. He placed a nice little snapper short side to put the Klippers within one.

- Beau Stewart would score the Klippers 4th goal, and boy was it a thing of beauty. It was 4 on 4 action, and the draw was in the Klippers end. Davies worked it over to Stewart on the wing, and he walked into the Yorkton zone. A few feet above the left side circle, Stewart launched a absolute rocket, that was labeled for the top corner. The net minder Thomson didn't even move, it was a riffle to tie up the game.

- The 3rd period and regulation would solved nothing and we were headed to a shootout. Vlanich tried the one handed Forsberg move, but was stuffed by McDonald. Bosovich was 1st for Kindersley and he ripped one top corner to give Kindersley the advantage. Sookro was also stopped by McDonald, which paved the way for Daniels to win the game. Daniels tried to shoot but was stopped by Thomson, which meant that Giebel would have to score to keep the shootout going. Giebel made a nice move, pulled it from back hand to forehand, but McDonald would rob him with the glove to officially end the Klippers 12 game losing streak!!! McDonald was really good for Kindersley in the 3rd period aswell, which gave them a chance in the shootout.

- Another impressive thing about the Klippers win was that they had no powerplays the entire game!

- I was really pumped for the boys. They have been working hard, and haven't got a single bounce during their slump. They played a very solid team game, with each player feeding off of one another. They didn't give up after going down by 3 early, and deserved the victory!

- I think the win will be a big confidence boost for this team moving forward. They are playing for pride the rest of the way through, and I think a few more wins are in store for the Klippers before the season is over.

- Sunday was indeed my final radio broadcast for the Klippers. I will be broadcasting the game on the web cast Thursday, but the web cast doesn't have the same meaning as the radio for broadcasting. It was really nice to see the boys play the way they did, and it almost made me tear up during the broadcast. Klippers Drop 11th Straight Out In Yorkton

- 1st off I apologize for the game not being broadcasted on the radio. I forgot the power cord back at the radio station. This usually wouldn't be a problem because the board has a built in battery, but for some reason it wasn't working and I had no juice to broadcast the game . I think we should be good to go for tonight's game, as I am planning on meeting up with Craig Stein today from GX94 to borrow some radio gear.

- On to the game, Kindersley had a really solid opening frame which saw them kill off a lengthy 5 on 3 and also head into the break scoreless through 20.

- In the 2nd, Yorkton would elevate their game and Kindersley was unable match it. That's the problem, when the times get tough in the hockey games, Kindersley just doesn't have that fight back intensity.

- Early in the 3rd the floodgates opened for Yorkton as they would score 3 goals in the opening 5 minutes of the period. The lone bright spot for Kindersley in that frame was youngster Kody Thue. He plays Midget AAA for the Yorkton Harvest, and got called up for his 1st SJHL game as a Klipper. Thues rights had come over to Kindersley, in the Jordon Hoffman trade. Anyways, off the draw, Geislinger won it back to the point, and Thue launched a solid wrister top corner glove side. For a dman, that's about as pretty as it gets for your 1st Junior career marker. Thue also had a pretty solid outing for Kindersley. He kept it simple, didn't make any mistakes and scored the only Klippers goal.

- Kindersley has now dropped 11 straight contests, and things are looking doom and gloom right about now in terms of the rest of the season. Having said that, there are a few positives for Kindersly last night. Their penalty kill has been much more effective of late, and it showed last night when they killed off a 5 on 3 early. They are also generating good looks offensively. Kindersley mustered 34 shots on goal which is a positive. If they keep getting that many shots every night, the goals should come. Shymko was very solid on the night for Yorkton and earned the games 1st star.

- The Klippers will depart for Melville tonight and then back to Yorkton Sunday to wrap up the road swing. I will tweet updates on the radio broadcast situation at some point this afternoon, but like I mentioned, we should be good to go for tonight's game.

Melville Drops Kindersley 5-2 As The Klippers Lose Their 10th Straight

- Wednesday night Kindersley failed to bring a full 60 minute effort, which resulted in a 5-2 Melville victory. They showed bits and spurts of solid hockey, but overall it wasn't the same performance we had seen out in Weyburn on Sunday. The start wasn't pretty for Kindersley as the starting line of Mireau, McNulty and Wasden struck only 14 seconds into the contest. Melville elected to put Wasden with those 2 for the games opening shift and it payed off as McNulty potted his 25th of the season. That was the only marker of the opening frame and Kindersley would strike next in the 2nd period early on their 1st powerplay chance. D Jay McGrath walked off the wall and ripped one short side for his 10th of the season. Melville would take back the lead though and then go up by 2 before the period was over. Kindersley did make things interesting for a few moments in the 3rd when Davies got Kindersley within one. The next shift though a defensive zone breakdown lead to Melville going back up by 2. That must of been a huge let down on the bench for the team after fighting hard to get back and then to go right back down on the next shift. Melville would add another one in the 3rd to win by a final of 5-2. It has become evident that for Kindersley to beat these veteran like teams in the SJHL, that they will have to work their bags off for an entire 60 minutes, and be crisp all the way through, as one mistake seems to always end up in the back of the net.

- Another tough weekend lies ahead for the Kindersley Klippers against 2 very talented Sherwood teams. Kindersley will play in Yorkton Friday night, Melville on Saturday night and Yorkton again on Sunday. Kindersleys special teams has been improving lately, which could be the key to Kindersley unlocking a victory this weekend.

- I will have all 3 of the weekend broadcasts on 1330/1210 Classic Hits Radio. These will be my final radio broadcasts of the season for Kindersley and I am hoping the boys can pull through with a victory.

Kindersley Set To Entertain Former Klipper Taylor Wasden and The Money Men

Tonight marks game number 47 of 58 for the Kindersley Klippers, as they entertain the Melville Millionaires. Melville has won all 5 of the meetings between the 2 clubs so far this season, 4 of those Mills win came in regulation with 1 coming in overtime.

Despite the lose on Sunday night out in Weyburn, Kindersley put together their most complete game of 2012. They will need to bring that kind of compete level once again tonight, but also find their scoring touch against a very explosive Melville club.

This is a team that loaded up at the SJHL trade deadline bringing in veteran forwards Connor Bradshaw, and Taylor Wasden. They also got Sean Aschim back from the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL.

In terms of Taylor Wasden, he will make his return to Kindersley tonight and I bet he gets a standing ovation from the Kindersley faithful. It will be interesting to see if anyone tries to drop the mitts with Wazy tonight, so far in 5 games with Melville, Wasden has been very discipline and hasn't racked up any penalty minutes. I know the Klippers players all respect Wasden as a player and a friend, but on the ice you have no friends, your opponent becomes your enemy.

Kindersley will likely be without forward Tanner Kissick who is still recovering from an upper body injury. No word yet on when he may return to the lineup.

I also want to mention that this will be my 2nd last home game broadcast of the season. I have accepted a radio job back home in Edmonton and will be leaving Kindersley on February 3rd. I will still get to broadcast this weekends road trip and also next Thursdays home game. In terms of the job I will get to an in depth blog post about where I am headed, and my time in Kindersley at some point early next week. I just wanted to put this out their since alot of people have been asking me about it. I hope to see you down at the WCEC tonight, the boys put on a very exciting performance on Sunday and I would expect to see that effort once again tonight!

Kindersley Drops All 3 Weekend Road Games

Friday Night Out In Estevan:
Well this one wasn't pretty for the Kindersley Klippers, and the game was essentially over after 20 minutes of action. Kindersley came out strong in the opening couple of minutes and maybe if they had scored the games opening marker the outcome might have been different. For Kindersleys sake, they unfortunately did not and Estevan would scored on their 1st quality chance of the hockey game. After Whitehill scored for Estevan, the train fell off the rails for the Klippers, and Estevan would pot 5 more before the period was over. The offense was split out as Froese, Brykaliuk, Neufeld, DoIchylo, and Milligan did the damage. Their isn't much more to say about the rest of the game, it did get a bit chippy, and Kindersley had a ton of PP chances. Estevan somewhat let off the gas however, and the final resulted in a 8-1 debacle.

Saturday Night Out In Wilcox:
Saturday night Kindersley certainly brought a better compete level, but it wasn't enough to knock off the Notre Dame Hounds. For whatever reason, Kindersley always seems to struggle out in Wilcox. These struggles go back even to last season, as it just seems like its always a dull game in the Notre Dame barn. It's a tough rink to play in that really favors the home squad. It's a much bigger ice surface, and its hard to get amped up for a game when there is essentially 20-30 fans in the building. Having said that, this was a game that Kindersley could of won but once again they fell short. Special teams was the difference in this one, ad Notre Dame scored a short handed marker and also a powerplay marker in the 2nd period. The shorty was a rocket down the wing by Ben Morgan, and the powerplay was a sharp short side point shot off of the stick of Brandon Kuse. Midway through the 3rd period, rookie sensation Brandon Millin would score the dagger to put Notre Dame up by 3. Kindersley would add a very late marker on the powerplay as D Jay McGrath broke Reichenbachs shutout bid with 22 seconds left in the game.

Sunday Night Out In Weyburn
Some may have wrote Kindersley off based on the fact that it was a matchup that featured the Sherwood's best hosting the Sherwood's worst, but boy did the Klippers come to play on Sunday night. Kindersley came out the gate with all kinds of fire, and Brad Buckingham would put Kindersley on the board early with a powerplay strike. Kindersley continued to take it to Weyburn for the majority of the opening frame outshooting them in the period. Kindersley continued their strong play in the 2nd frame, but they were unable to beat Teskey and the Red Wings would jump on Kindersley with some timely scoring. Sanderson and Williams would put Weyburn ahead 2-1 after forty minutes of play. That's the thing with strong teams, they can dig deep and get timely scoring like Weyburn did in this one. The 3rd Period was more of an even frame, but the difference was Kindersley couldn't find that timely scoring touch, and their opponent did. Alex Laird had a great chance on a breakaway where he absolutely blew by the entire Weyburn team from the Klippers zone, but he was unable to beat Teskey. Colby Daniels also hit a goalpost with a quick snapper from the high slot to prevent a Klippers comeback. Hoffman had scored for Weyburn early in the frame to make it 3-1 and Pereira would add an empty netter to ice Kindersley vy a final of 4-1. Kindersley really deserved a better fate in this one, and they really elevated their game against a tough team that is virtually unbeatable on home ice this season. Players like Alex Laird, Travis Geislinger and Colby Daniels had very good games for Kindersley in the losing effort. Those were a couple of standouts, but the whole team deserve a mention for their effort. The key scoring for Kindersley unfortunately wasnt there, but this game will in my mind certainly serve as a big time confidence booster for this club moving forward. A glimpse of the future was on display Sunday night, and boy did it look promising for this Klippers team.

Next up for Kindersley is Wednesday on home ice when they welcome in the Melville Millionaires and former Klipper Taylor Wasden.

Kindersley opens up 3 game set tonight out in Estevan

The Kindersley Klippers will open up a 3 game set tonight out in Estevan. With the playoffs seemingly out of reach, it will be interesting to see how this team plays this weekend. They are not mathematically eliminated, but I would say at this point they are playing for pride the rest of the way through.

Estevan on the other hand has won back to back games after snapping out of a 4 game funk last weekend. They are in a tight race for 2nd in the Sherwood with Yorkton and Melville. Currently Estevan sits 3rd, 1 point back of Yorkton. With home ice advantage being such a big factor in the SJHL playoffs, I would expect Estevan to bring their A game tonight.

The Klippers will be without the services of Tanner Kissick once again tonight. Tanner was hit to the head in Nipawin back on January 11th and did not play in the Klippers previous home game last weekend. It sounds like Kindersley is trying to call up Cody McKinnon from the Swift Current Leggionaires for tonight's contest, I will let you know on Twitter prior to the game if he is playing.

Kindersley Still Looking For 1st Win In 2012 After OT Loss

- Kindersley played their best game of 2012 Saturday night on home ice against the Nipawin Hawks. They competed hard and likely deserved a better fate.

- I am not one to usually rip on officials but when they make a wrong call, especially in overtime you have to rip them a bit. Brett Blatz was down low in the offensive zone trying to line up Bollefer for a check. At the initial moment Bollefer had his back turned towards Blatz who was skating towards him. As he went to make the hit Bollefer turned to his right, and the check resulted in shoulder to shoulder contact. It was almost as if the official had it in his mind that he was going to call the hit a board before the hit had followed through. At initial look it appeared Blatz was going to connect with a boarding check, but since Bollefer turned it was a clean check in my mind, and Blatz should not have been penalized.

- Kindersley picked up a point but they really needed 2 points to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Once again Kindersley still is not mathematically eliminated but with Notre Dame winning last night that slim chance took a big hit.

- Justin McDonald had a solid game Saturday night for Kindersley. It really was a goaltenders duo between McDonald and Kozun all night long. In the end it was won by Kozun but you cant really fault McDonald for either goals against. They were both on the powerplay, and the winning goal was a 4 on 3 one time bomb from Datoff.

- One big concern for Kindersley is their lack of scoring. It's not like the Klippers were putting up huge offensive numbers before Christmas, but in the new year Kindersley has scored only 5 goals in 4 games. You won't win many hockey games scoring at that ratio.

- Next up for Kindersley is a tough 3 game set over the weekend. They are in Estevan Friday night, Wilcox Saturday and Weyburn on Sunday. All 3 games will be broadcasted on 1330/1210 Classic Hits Radio.

Klippers Get Dropped 7-1 Out In Nipawin

For the 2nd straight contest Kindersley wasn't able to generate much of anything as they got dumped by a score of 7-1 last night by the Nipawin Hawks.

- Kindersleys playoff hopes took a large hit last night in my mind. It was essentially a must win game against a beatable Hawks team that was without alot of firepower due to injures. Kindersley still isn't mathematically eliminated from the post season but in my mind making the playoffs at this point may be a pipe dream.

- I expected Kindersley to come out with a ton of jump after the thrashing they took on home ice Saturday night, but that wasn't the case. They got down early, and essentially ten minutes into the 1st period they were out of it.

- We have to expect games like last night from this young Klipper squad, but I was a little upset by their compete level. If it was 7-1, and every player on the team was throwing bodies, for checking hard, going to the tough areas then I wouldn't be as disappointed by last nights result.

- Wheaton King scored a goal and two assists last night against his former team. He played with alot of jump and seemed to really spark the Hawks offense.

- Alex Laird made his Klipper debut. It was a tough game to anayze his play in, but overall I thought he was one of the better Klipper forwards. He can surely skate like the wind.

- Tanner Kissick got hit to the head in the 2nd period. Their were two officials on the ice and they both missed a clear head shot that forced Kissick to miss the rest of the game. No word yet on the extent of the injury, but I have no idea how that head shot was missed.

- Kindersley will play host to Nipawin on Saturday at the WCEC. I expect the players to give the fans a better effort then we seen last Saturday.

Kindersley Hits The Road Tonight For A Stop In Nipawin

The Kindersley Klippers will hit the road tonight for a one game stop out in Nipawin. The road in 2011 was not kind to Kindersley, as they assembled a record of 2-15-1-0 away from the WCEC.

It will be interesting to see how the Klippers play tonight on two fronts. The first being they put forth a very lackluster performance in their previous contest against Yorkton. The 2^nd being tonight’s game marks the 1^st game for Kindersley after the trade deadline.

As young as Kindersley was prior to the deadline, they are now even younger. Alot of the younger players on the Klippers team have to feel a bit relieved that the deadline has passed. With the way the season has gone, I am sure alot of the players were wondering if they would be dealt. They can now put that behind them and focus on the task at hand moving forward which is to try and catch the Notre Dame Hounds.

To catch the Hounds Kindersley will need to string together a win streak. I would consider tonight’s game a must win for the Klippers. The Hawks however won’t be an easy squad to beat. They are a solid team that has won 4 straight contests.

Wheaton King will suit up tonight in his Hawks debut against his former club, Alex Laird will also suit up for Kindersley against his former club. I don’t know a whole lot about Laird, but one thing that people keep telling me about him is that he is a very hard working player. For Kindersley to win games, they have to outwork teams so maybe Laird will act as a bit of a spark plug for Kindersley.

Trade deadline update.

The Kindersley Klippers have traded Taylor Wasden to the Melville Millionaires for future considerations.

I know Taylor was really shook up about the possibility of being dealt. He loved everything about the town of Kindersley and being a Kindersley Klipper, but as much as Wazy loved this town, his ultimate desire is playing the game of hockey. It was tough for him to have to put everything in Kindersley behind him, but in the end he wanted to continue playing hockey for as long as possible this year, and going to Melville gives him a great shot at an SJHL Championship. At this time the futures are unknown but I am hoping to find out more shortly.

Wasden was a big time fan favorite in Kindersley, and he will certainly be missed for his work on and off the ice. Going to Melville in my mind is a good fit for Taylor. They have a ton of skill and they just got a hell of alot tougher to play against.

I know Taylor has a few things he wanted to say to the town of Kindersley via interview. I hope to get a hold him later tonight for a phone conversation as he has already departed to Melville. They want him to get there in time to suit up for tomorrows game so he didn't have much time to chat.

Still lots of time left until the deadline, and I don't believe Kindersley is done just yet.

Well it has been a very quiet SJHL trade deadline so far today, that is until the Klippers decided to shake things up moments ago.

Kindersley has traded Wheaton King and futures to the Nipawin Hawks in exchange for 1993 born center Alex Laird and future considerations. In terms of the futures the SJHL and the Klippers organization has asked for them not to be released until later on this afternoon.

Rockie Zinger had mentioned to me earlier in the season that a number of teams had shown interest in acquiring Wheaton Kings services, so I am not that surprised he was dealt today.

King up to this point had lead the Klippers in points with 30 in 35 games. King still has another full season in the SJHL, and like I had mentioned in my previous trade deadline preview post it would have to take a big package for Kindersley to deal King. Obviously Rockie Zinger felt strongly enough about the package coming back to deal a player of King's caliber.

I can tell that Kindersley will also include a list kid along with King going to Nipawin. In return they receive King, and two other list kids to be announced this afternoon.

Who Might Be Available From Kindersley On Deadline Day

In the Sherwood division the Kindersley Klippers are ten points out of a playoff spot and are clearly in a rebuild for next season. The playoffs are not officially out of sight but we do know the Klippers will be looking to be sellers today on deadline day. That doesn't mean that this current roster will be blown up because Kindersley has already made significant moves earlier in the season shipping out the likes of Taylor Duzan, Jesse Mysiorek and Jordon Hoffman.

In terms of the SJHL playoff race things are tight and it will be interesting to see what teams are actually sellers today. A team like Notre Dame may choose to stand pat and try their luck in the playoffs or they may ship out a player like Todd Christian or Carson Grolla and still try and go for the playoffs this year but also build for next season.

Really the only 2 definite sellers in the SJHL are the Kindersley Klippers and the Melfort Mustangs. Kindersley has already made moves but their still is a handful of players on the Klippers roster who could receive trade offers today.

Rockie Zinger came out and said that the organization is listening to all offers.

" At this point when you have this record, and this group, your going to listen to everyone that has something to offer and explore all avenues. Obviously its not going to get blown up, because of cards and issues like that. I wouldn't expect a flurry of deals, but if there is something out there that we feel will make our team better and raise our compete level then we will defiantly do it. "

Here is my list of guys who may be highly sought after around the Junior A hockey leagues. This does not mean that they are on the trading block from the Klippers side.

Taylor Wasden - Wasden is the only 20 year old player left on the Klippers roster. He came out before Christmas and said he would like to stay in Kindersley to try and help the club make a push for a playoff spot. Since then Kindersley hasn't got any closer to a playoff spot and the thought of not playing hockey come the end of Febuary has likely crossed Wasdens mind. I do believe Wazy will be dealt at some point today so that he can continue his final SJHL season with a playoff run. He is a great leader on and on the ice, is tough as nails and could help any team in a playoff series. A number of rumors have been floating around but nothing at this point is official on the Wasden front.

Wheaton King - Kindersleys leading point getter. He has alot of offensive ability but can also play a gritty two way game suited for the playoffs. Wheaton is only 19 and eligible to return to Kindersley next season but with alot of teams around the SJHL looking to take that next step, a team could offer Kindersley a significant dealer that might be to much to pass on. I would say Kindersley is not out shopping King, but if a big offer does come along, then Zinger will have to consider it.

David Haaf or Zane Morin - 1st off I am not coming out and saying either of these 2 will be dealt, nor have I heard anyting leading me to think they may be dealt. These two are pure speculation based on the fact that they are the 2 oldest d men on the Klippers roster. I would assume both Haaf and Morin would be on the radar of many teams but with them both set to return next season, it would take a good trade offer to part with either of these 19 year old dmen.

Those are just a few guys based on age that will likely receive a phone call about on deadline day. I would really say that their isn't to many untouchables on the Klipper roster and if an offer comes in on a player that isn't on that above list, I am sure Rockie Zinger will strongly consider it.

I had a brief chat with Zinger last night but he didnt give me much to work with in terms of rumors. Things were quiet for the most part but I am sure that will change today. Check back later for an update, it should be a very exciting day around the SJHL.

Friday night hosting Weyburn

The Kindersley Klippers returned to the ice Friday night in game action for the first time since December 20th. They played host to the Weyburn Red Wings and would fall by a score of 4-2. Kindersley had the longest break of any team in the SJHL and you might have expected them to come out slow off the hop but that wasn't the case. Kindersley actually looked as good as I have seen them all season long in the opening ten or so minutes of Friday nights. Justin Lund gave Kindersley an early 1 goal lead and things were looking pretty as all four lines had a couple of very solid opening shift creating all kinds of chances. The unfortunate thing for Kindersley was in that flurry of chances they were only able to generate one goal and they could of used another marker against a strong Weyburn team. Weyburn got through the early Kindersley storm and started to play their game as they would cash 2 goals before the period was over to take a 2-1 lead into the break. The second period was not so good for Kindersley as they really had no jump at all and Weyburn would make them pay adding one more goal from Jesse Ross to take a 3-1 lead into the 2nd intermission. In the third we seen glimpses of that team we had seen early in the 1st period as Kindersley came on very strong late in the contest. They were down 4-1 but a point shot from young Jeremy Leclerc would find mesh to make it 4-2 and give Kindersley some life. 1st off that was a special moment for the Saskatoon product as it was his 1st SJHL goal. He had a great night all around and would earn the games 2nd star. Kindersley had a number of high quality scoring chances late in the period but Mitch Kilgore would stand his ground to cap off a 4-2 Weyburn victory.

- Overall it wasn't a bad game from Kindersley, they showed glimpse of being a good hockey team but were unable to put it together for 60 full minutes.

- The game also marked the return of Klippers forward Taylor Wasden who had missed 8 games due to a concussion. I thought Wasden had a ton of jump on the night and was one of the better Klipper forwards all around. He threw some nice checks, was skating great and had a few solid scoring chances.

Saturday night hosting Yorkton

This was by far the worst game performance by the Kindersley Klippers all season. We know Kindersley has struggled this year but for the most part they have been in almost every contest tell the end. That was certainly not the case Saturday as the game was all but over in the opening few minutes. 47 seconds into the game Zak Majkowski would walk in and wire one over top the glove of Justin McDonald on the games opening shot to give Yorkton a 1-0 lead. 1:13 later, Yorkton would make it 2-0 on a rebound out in from that was knocked home by Jeremy Johnson. 2:07 later it was Majkowski again for Yorkton capping off a beautiful pass from Devon McMullen to make it 3 nothing Yorkton under 5 minutes into the period. Justin McDonald was in net for Kindersley and allowed 3 goals on 4 shots. Clearly the goalie needs to be better in a situation like that, but Kindersley as a team was not ready to play Saturday night. Sam Rockwell would add one late in the period for his 1st ever SJHL marker to make it 4-0 Yorkton. The game was all but sealed up after 20 minutes as Kindersley showed no jump back the rest of the way through. There was really nothing positive in the game for Kindersley and it was easily their most lackluster performance of the season. This really surprised me due to the fact that the trade deadline is on January 10th and this was the last game for Kindersley before the deadline. I know the Klippers are in a rebuild and some of the rookies likely think they wont be shipped out, but anything could happen before the deadline officially passes.

- I know that Rockie Zinger was not a happy camper with the way his team played. He called them back to the rink early Sunday morning where the players were treated to a vigorous off ice session.

- The only positive for Kindersley over the weekend was that Notre Dame lost both of their games, meaning Kindersley remains 8 points back of the Hounds for the final Sherwood playoff spot. Both clubs have 17 games remaining on the season.

- In terms of the trade deadline, I do expect Kindersley to be some what busy. It sounds like one deal is close to being completed.

- Below is an interview after last nights game with head coach Rockie Zinger. He addresses his teams performance and gives us a bit of insight on the upcoming trade deadline.

Klippers Back In Action Tonight Hosting Weyburn

Well first off Happy New Year to you all!!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas because I sure did. I just returned back to Kindersley late Wednesday night after a long and awesome holiday back home in Edmonton. A nice long break really does wonders in terms of motivation. Relaxing for a while really lets you sit back and think about your current situation, for me the break really helped me get motivated to get back to Kindersley and put in work from a media standpoint to the best of my abilities. I'm back and ready for the final stretch of the SJHL season.

At this point Kindersley is not out of playoff contention, they have 19 games remaining and are currently 8 points back of Notre Dame for the final Sherwood playoff spot. Notre Dame also has 19 games remaining on their schedule as well. The best news for Kindersley's playoff hopes is that they still have 3 meetings this season with the Hounds. 2 of those games are in Wilcox and 1 in Kindersley. That's all in the future though as Kindersley has been practicing this week in preparation for this weekends action. Kindersley will host Weyburn tonight and Yorkton on Saturday.

First off at a quick glance it would appear that Kindersley had the longest Christmas break in the SJHL. The Klippers last contest dates all the way back to December 20th when they fell just short against Humboldt by a score of 3-2. Like I mentioned above the break really motivated myself, and you would think a long break like that really motivates a player to get back and play as hard as possible for the duration of the season. I had a quick chat with Travis Geislinger at the team gym yesterday and he said he had a good Christmas but he was more than ready to get back to work. I would assume most of the players feel the exact same way.

Tonights game is a big test for Kindersley against the Sherwood's best Weyburn Red Wings, a squad that has beat Kindersley in all 3 meetings so far this season. Weyburn currently has a strangle hold on the Sherwood Division as they sit 13 points above Yorkton and Melville for 2nd spot. Having said that it hasn't been the start to 2012 that you would expect from Weyburn. They have dropped back to back games in the new year losing 3-2 to Estevan on New Years Day and 6-2 to Melville on the 3rd.

In terms of Kindersley we all know this season to this point has been a struggle. They are 9-27-2-1 on the campaign and 2nd last overall in the SJHL. The first portion of the season seen alot of trades being made as the organization turned focus to a rebuild. There still will likely be a few more moves to come with the January 10th trade deadline on the horizon, but at this point the players can really treat these next 19 games as a fresh start. The team in my mind started to show alot of positive strides over the last few games of 2011 and you would think that would carry into 2012. Tonight I expect to see a ton of jump from this well rested Klippers squad.

A few players I think the long break will really benefit are Tanner Kissick, and Brennen Bosovich. Both players have been battling nagging injuries all season long and should come back more healthy then any point so far this season. Another player who benefited from the break is veteran forward Taylor Wasden. Wasden is back skating with the club and is very close to returning. I am not sure if he is able to go tonight but I hope to find out shortly this morning.

One player however who wont be playing for Kindersley tonight or tomorrow is Wheaton King. King was picked up over the holidays by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Western Hockey League. In 3 games with Moose Jaw, King picked up 1 assist. With Howden coming back to Moose Jaw from the World Juniors and Hansen and White returning from the World Under-17 Challenge in Windsor, you would think that would mean King will likely be sent back to Kindersley shortly. I have heard from a few people that King could be back to Kindersley as early as Sunday. I cant confirm anything at this point but if Moose Jaw likes what they seen from King during his time there, then maybe he will get a longer look.

Klippers head into the Christmas break on losing note after 3-2 lose to Humboldt

Despite the loss for the Kindersley Klippers they played a hard fought game and came very close to winning last nights contest against one of the best Junior A teams in the country.

The opening frame solved nothing in terms of the goals department but it was a fast paced and exciting opening period of hockey. Kindersley had alot of jump early, it was really nice to see this young Klippers squad step up to the challenge and play so well. The Bronocs had 8 20 year olds in their lineup where as Kindersley had none. Being scoreless after 20 in my mind was a opening period win for Kindersley.

In the second period the Klippers got into penalty trouble right out the gate. Just over a minute into the frame, Normand took a slashing penalty to send the Broncos to the powerplay. Kindersley was able to kill off the powerplay thanks to some solid goaltending by Brandon Stone, but the Broncos would keep coming after that. At the 3:17 mark off an offensive zone faceoff Adam Antkowiak was able to get a shot off from a sharp angle off the draw to put Humboldt on the board. The penalty troubles continued for Kindersley in the period as the Broncos would get 3 more cracks on the PP. Brandon Stone was the best Klipper penalty killer on the night giving Kindersley a chance to turn the tide. Howevev you dont want to get into penalty trouble no matter how good the penalty was looking especailly with all the firepower the Bronocs have. You could see it somwhat coming as on their 3rd chance of the period Robbie Ciolfi threw the puck out in front and it bounced off of John Lawrence in front and into the back of the net for a 2-0 Bronco lead.

Kindersley could have gave up at this point and checked in to the Christmas holidays but they didn't, they kept fighting and eventual some hard work payed off. Beau Stewart took a outlet feed from Colby Daniels down the wing as he used his blazing speed to blow past Ballas who tried to pivot to keep up to Stewarts speed which resulted in him blowing a tire. Stewart was off to the races on a partial breakaway and he wired home his 1st official snipe as a Klipper to give Kindersley some life.

The goal resulted in Kindersley heading into the locker room with rejuvenated confidence as they came out hard to start the 3rd period which would result in their 2nd goal. Kindersley was working hard down low on the forcheck and Geislinger was able to work the puck up top to Steve Normand who hammered home a perfectly placed shot past the new Bronco net minder Colin Dzijacky.

Following the goal it was for the most part a back and forth affair with both goaltenders making some big saves for their clubs. Dzijacky absolutely robbed Wheaton King of a sure goal and overall he was very impressive on the night in his Bronco debut.

At the 12:03 mark Tanner Kissick would take a hooking penalty which sent the Broncos back to the powerplay and they once again would score on the man advantage, on a pretty little dangle out in front by Matt Glowa for his 11th of the season.

Kindersley had 8 minutes to work with to try and get back into the game and they laid it all on the line to try and force extra time. Kindersley thought they had tied the game twice in the final minutes. The 1st on a wraparound stuff that the Klippers players claim indeed did pass the goal line. It was tough to see from my vantage point. The 2nd chance was an absolute riffle by Brad Buckingham from the high slot that the referees deemed hit the crossbar. The goal light came on and the Klippers protested that it hit the inside bar rather than the outside. It was to no avail as it was ruled no goal. Hard to tell if it went in without a replay but there was no crossbar ping sound which is what had most of the fans upset with the officials ruling it no goal. There was nothing the Klippers could do about it as their comeback bid fell short. Despite the loss Kindersley really showed alot of resilience and determination. I really do feel this team has taken significant strides in the past little while. Their defense is moving the puck more effectively, they have found great chemistry up front with a number of lines and there goaltending has been solid on both the Stone and McDonald front of late. We all know at this point this is a development season for Kindersley, but they do still have a shot at the playoffs and if they continue to play like they have in this recent span, than they may be able to catch the Hounds in the standings.

In terms of Taylor Duzans return, it was a quiet night for the former Klipper. He was his usual hardworking self but failed to register any points. He certainly fits in nicely with the Broncos, they actually haven't lost a game since Duzan has come over.

This may or may not be my final blog of 2011. I am heading back to Edmonton on Friday and wont be back in Kindersley until January 3rd. Kindersley Set To Host Humboldt To Close Off 2011

The Kindersley Klippers look to close off 2011 on a high note as they play host to former Klipper Taylor Duzan and the Humboldt Broncos.

It's been a season of ups and downs with more downs then ups to this point for this young Klippers squad. Beating the Humboldt Broncos to close off the year would be a huge accomplishment for this club and would certainly serve as a huge confident boost to look forward to into the new year.

Kindersley is riding fairly high right now after a weekend that saw them play some good quality hockey against a tough Flin Flon team. Tonight's opponent may be a bit tougher on paper but last time the Broncos were in town, Kindersley picked up a point in a shootout loss.

The Humboldt Broncos though at the moment are playing their best hockey of the season and that is a scary thing. They are 9-0-0-1 in their past 10 contests and have beat Kindersley in all 3 meetings so far this season. Taylor Duzan will play against his former club for the 2nd time. He made his debut out in Humboldt against Kindersly back on December 4th. Duzan currently has 5 goals and 3 assists in 7 games in his new digs.

For Kindersley they will be without Taylor Wasden once again. A long Christmas break will serve Wasden good and he will likely come back 100% in the new year. On the back end Zane Morin is questionable, I hope to find out more this afternoon on Morin's status. He didn't play Sunday against Flon.

In net one could assume Brandon Stone gets the start tonight for the Klippers after Justin McDonald played both games this past weekend. McDonald played great on Saturday night and wasn't the reason Kindersley lost on Sunday but after a loss I would say Stone will start this evening.

Klippers Split Weekend Games With Flin Flon

Saturday nights game:

Goaltenders Justin McDonald and Devin Buffalo stole the show Saturday night. Both net minders were huge for their hockey clubs but in the end Justin McDonald made one more save in the shootout to pick up 2 very important points for the Kindersley Klippers.

Flin Flon opened the scoring in the 1st period on a power play riffle by Dillan McCombie and after that we didn't see a goal until the 3rd frame. Kindersley was throwing everything they had towards Buffalo, and it was starting to look like they weren't going to solve him. Buffalo made a ridiculous desperation glove save on Austin McDonald early in the 3rd period to keep the shutout bid alive for the time being. A few shifts later Kindersley generated almost an identical play on a 2 on 1 and this time McDonald made no mistake. He was stopped on the 1st chance but the 2nd attempt he lifted the rebound over top of Buffalo's pad to tie the contest at 1 at the 15:31 mark. It was a a nice passing play to set up the goal as McGrath took a hit to make the 1st pass over to Wheaton King, who then feather a beauty cross ice to McDonald.

The rest of regulation and overtime would solve nothing and a shootout was needed.

McCombie scored on the Bombers 2nd attempt with Kindersley failing to score on their 1st two chances which set up an oppurtunity for Jesse Mysiorek to win the game against his former club. He came in and was stopped by McDonald which gave Kindersley another chance as Geislinger would score to send the shootout to extras. 4th round solved nothing, and McDonald would stop Weldon on the Bombers 5th chance. That paved the way for Beau Stewart to win the game against his former club and Stew Nasty did just that to snap a six game losing skid for his hockey team. Kindersleys last win prior to Saturday night actually came in a shootout aswell back on November 28th.

Sunday night rematch:

Sundays game was the total opposite of Saturday, it was a high scoring affair that saw Flin Flon knock off Kindersley by a score of 6-5.

Just like he did on Saturday night, McCombie opened the scoring for the Bombers with his 20th of the sesaon 8:59 into the 1st period. The first ten minutes were really controlled by the Bombers but Kindersley turned the tide and took over after Flin Flon took the 1 goal lead. Kyle Davies would whack home a rebound on the power play at the 12:52 mark to knot things at 1. Shortly after Kindersley would take the lead as Brett Blatz jumped up in the rush for a 2-on-1. He had the option to pass but instead he kept and riffled one past Desautels for his 2nd of the season.

In the 2nd period Kindersley fell asleep and the Bombers came out with a ton of jump. Flon would score 3 times in the frame to take a 4-2 lead into the intermission. Goals in the frame were scored by Balaski, Litke, and McCombie.
The see saw battle continued into the 3rd frame with Kindersley drawing to within one as Travis Geislinger would finish off a beautiful pass from Trent Hermary. The one goal deficit was short lived however as McCombie would record his hat trick marker to take back the 2 goal lead. In terms of McCombie, wow is this kid good. He is still only 16 years of age and has 22 goals now on the season. He turns 17 on December. 29th.

The Bombers would strike again as Dylan Balaski made a lil dipsy doodle around Justin McDonald to give the Bombers a 3 goal lead 9:44 into the period. Everyone in the building likely thought that was it for Kindersley but Bradley Buckingham caught fire and would score 2 goals to put Kindersley within 1. Buckingham was great for Kindersley all night long, he had a fight in the 2nd period, he picked up an assist on Geislingers goal and of course scored 2 of his own. That is what you call a Gordie Howe hat trick with a lil extra on top.

Buckinghams 2nd goal came at the 13:53 mark which gave Kindersley some time to try and tie things up. A couple big saves in the dieing sequence from Desaultels prevented the comeback bid from happening as the Bombers would skate away with a 6-5 victory. For the Bombers they now head into the Christmas break sitting 3rd in the Bauer Standings. Kindersley on the other hand will wrap up 2011 tomorrow night when they host Humboldt as Taylor Duzan returns to Kindersley.

Overall it was a positive weekend for Kindersley as they showed they can compete with one of the league elite squads.

Kindersey Plays Host To Flin Flon This Weekend As Jesse Mysiorek Returns To Town

Its been nearly a week of preparation for the Kindersley Klippers who have had 6 days off to get ready for tonight's tilt with the Flin Flon Bombers. Tonight marks game 4 of a 6 game homestand for the Klips, a homestand that hasn't went as planned up to this point. At the start of this homestand Kindersley likely seen this as a chance to gain some ground on Notre Dame in the Sherwood Standings, but that hasn't been the case with 3 straight loses on home soil. The Klippers will have to put those games behind them and turn focus to trying to knock off a strong Flin Flon squad. In terms of Kindersley I am calling tonight's game a must win game. They have fallen to 10 points back of Notre Dame and need to start closing the gap if they still have hopes at making the playoffs. If they lose tonight then Sundays rematch becomes that much tougher to win.

2 points certainly wont come easy against this Bomber squad. They are a very good hockey team with their confidence sky high after a big 9-1 victory Thursday night over the number one team in the SJHL the Battlefords Northstars.

The big side story in tonight's game will be the return of Jesse Mysiorek to KIndersley. Mysiorek has been very good for the Bombers since being acquired and you can bet emotions will be running high for him tonight. In 6 games with Flon, Mysiorek has registered 2 goals and 6 assists.

This is the 4th meeting of the season between these 2 clubs. Back on Sept 30th and October 1st two spirited and entertaining hockey games were played out in Flin Flon. The Bombers skated away with back to back wins but Kindersley came hard in both affairs. The 3rd meeting was at the SJHL showcase with Kindersley knocking off Flin Flon 3-2.

Weyburn Defeats Kindersley Twice Over Weekend

Friday nights game:

It was a see-saw affair that either team could of won. I really liked Kindersleys compete level on Friday night as they gave the Sherwood's best Weyburn Red Wings a run for their money. Weyburn opened the scoring on the powerplay as Coltyn Sanderson potted his 20th of the season. Kindersley however would respond on a special moment for 2 Klipper forwards. First being Trent Hermary who netted his 1st as a Klipper against his former team, and secondly for Chase Nelson who was called up from the Regina Pat Canadians as he picked up his 1st SJHL point on a nice pass out in front to Hermary.

Early in the second period Wheaton King banged home his 4th of the season out in front on a mad scramble to give Kindersley the lead. You would have thought Kindersley would of had the extra jump after scoring the go ahead marker but instead Weyburn would pick their game up scoring three of their own to to take back the lead and go up by 2. Goals were from Pereira, Kmita and Willams. Former Klippers captain Jordon Hoffman would pick up assists on all 3 goals for Weyburn as they took a 4-2 lead to the dressing room after 40.

Kindersly came out with some jump in the 3rd period as Wheaton King would tally his 2nd of the game and team leading 27th point. King also had a multi goal game against Weyburn in their previous meeting. Shortly after Sanderson would add his 2nd of the game to restore the 2 goal lead for Weyburn. Despite being down by 2 Kindersley kept coming as they would draw a 5-3 powerplay. They pulled the net minder to make it a 6 on 3 attack but really looked dysfunctional in the process. Weyburn killed off the 5 on 3 but then took another penalty late as Johnson boarded Blatz down low in the corner. Daniels would bang home his 4th of the season out in front with 23 seconds left on the powerplay but it was little to late for the Klippers who were unable to tie things up with 23 seconds left in the hockey game. Really Kindersley gave Weyburn everything they had and it was a great hockey game that set things up nicely for the rematch on Sunday.

Sundays game:

Weyburn was coming off a loss out in Battlefords on Saturday and were playing their 3rd game in 3 nights. Kindersley on the other hand looked like they were going through a Sunday snooze session for the most part of Sundays game. It wasn't much of a game except for all the rough stuff in the 3rd period. Weyburn would score 3 times in the opening frame with 2 goals from Hoffman and 1 from Bruce. For Hoffman he now has 12 points in 4 games with Weyburn and was arguably their best player over the weekend. Bruce would add another to make it 4-0 Weyburn early in the 2nd period. It seems like they may have let their foot off the accelerator as Kindersley brought an intense game to the 3rd period. Trent Hermary broke the shutout bid for Teskey on a beautiful shot that went bar down from the high slot. That was the lone Kindersley marker as they would fall 4-1. Sparks however started to fly late in the 3rd as Morin and Sanderson squared off and then to wrap up the contest Kissick went with Kennelly. Morin landed a huge KO knockdown punch on Sanderson that knocked him to the ice. In terms of Kissick he went with Kennelly right as the final buzzer sounded. For Kissick that was his 2nd scrap of the game. Also back in the 2nd period Brett Blatz got booted from the contest for a check from behind which may lead to a suspension. In terms of the fights we may also see a few suspensions coming for both clubs. I will have to took a quick look over the SJHL rules in terms of the suspensions. It's safe to say these 2 clubs do not like each other no matter where each team sits in the standings.

In terms of the Klippers they remain 6 points back of Notre Dame, but the Hounds have 3 games in hand. Kindersley will need to take care of business on home ice this weekend when they host Flin Flon Saturday and Sunday night.

Hoffman Returns To Kindersley In Red and White

It's game 2 of a 6 game homstand for the Kindersley Klippers as they welcome in the Weyburn Red Wings. The 2 clubs have only met once so far this season, that contest seen the Wings skate away with a 5-4 win back on November 19th in Weyburn. Kindersley and Weyburn will also square off again on Sunday at the WCEC.

The big story of tonight's contest will be former Klipper captain Jordon Hoffman returning to Kindersley for the 1st time since being traded. Hoffman is off to a great start with the Red Wings, in 2 games he has 5 points (1G 4A).

The Red Wings currently sit up top the Sherwood Standings with a 22-9-0-1 record. What is even more impressive is the fact that the Red Wings have won 9 of their past 10 contests and are currently on a 6 game winning streak. They are a big and fast squad that work extremely hard. Kindersley will need to match the Weyburn intensity by forchecking hard and finishing every check on every shift.

In terms of the Klippers I have confirmation that Taylor Wasden will not be able to suit up tonight. He remains on the shelf, day-to-day with an upper body injury. Tanner Kissick who also sat out Wednesdays game will be an afternoon decision whether he is able to go or not. If both are unable to play you can likely expect a call up to be made from Midget AAA.

Tonight's web cast will start up at 7:30. I wont be doing play-by-play for the opening frame but I will jump in for the 2nd and 3rd periods. I am doing a live on location remote from 4-8 down at the WCEC for the Klippers truck lotto on Classic Hits Radio 1330/1210. Klippers Open Up Homestand With A Loss

The Klippers opened up a 6 game homestand with a 5-3 loss to the Yokrton Terriers.

Yorkton has now improved to 3-0 vs. the Klippers this season.

Yorkton took a 2-1 lead into the 1st intermission. Both of Yorkton goals were scored on monumental defensive zone collapses by the Klippers defense. On both occasions the puck should have easily been cleared but it wasn't and the turnovers proved costly. After the 1st giveaway Kindersley responded quickly with a beautiful passing play capped off by Klippers rookie Colby Daniels. Davies carried the puck into the offensive zone on a 3-2 rush, made the one dman bite on the left wing as he worked the puck all the way cross ice to Stewart in which the play essentially became a 2 on 1. Stewart then slide it out in front to Daniels who cashed to tie the hockey game. Overall that trio continues to impress for the Klippers, they were certainly the best Klippers line last night. Just over a minute after the goal the 2nd giveaway that I eluded to happened which seemed to take the life right out of Kindersley.

The Terriers kept coming and controlled almost all of the play in the 2nd period. They added 2 more goals, firstly from Murray and 2ndly from Chase Norrish. Norish's marker was the best goal I have seen so far this season. He started out in his own end from the corner, blew by 2 Klipper forwards down the wall as he went up the gut through neutral ice. He came into Klipper territory 1 on 2 and basically just walked right through the Klippers defense as he split them, skated in and deked past Stone. It was a Bobby Orr like rush from Norish but the Klipper defense looked awful on that play. Not sure how you can let a rookie dman walk right in like that but that was the case and that dagger ended up being the game winner. At the time you wouldn't of thought that, especially the way the Klippers played the remainder of the 2nd frame. Stone made some big saves to keep the game 4-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Kindersley came out strong in the third period and really looked good for the most part. They ended up scoring 2 goals of there own. Kyle Davies potted his 3rd of the season on a redirect after Manhas let one go from the point and with just over 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd Travis Geislinger would put the Klippers within 1. Geislinger made a fancy spin move from the corner, walked out and fired one from a sharp angle that went fivehole on Shymko. It was good to see Kindersley bounce back and get within one especially since they had a 5 on 3 powerplay just prior to that that got them absolutely no where. The powerplay was put to the test once again with just over a minute left in the game as Tyler Gieble took the gate for a high stick. Kindersley pulled the tender for a 6 on 4 attack. They really couldn't get anything set up and the Terriers would send it down the ice. The Klippers defense was once again caught sleeping as they thought it was an iceing call but it wasn't becasue they were on the powerplay. Thomspon picked up the puck and iced the Klippers with 39 seconds left on the clock.

Kindersley made one to many costly defensive mistake in the game which really resulted in the loss. There powerplay also did them no favors in the hockey game going 0-6. The worst of the powerplay was the 5 on 3 attempt that only mustered up one shot on goal.

Kindersley was without Taylor Wasden and Tanner Kissick in the game. They called up Mithchell Schwark from the Saskatoon Blazers and he gave them some quality minutes up front. He played a simple game but a sound game and looked very comfortable in his 1st SJHL game. I would not be surprised to see him called up along the road later on in the season if the Klippers have more injury trouble.

Next up for the Klippers will be Friday at home against Weyburn. Kindersley was knocked around physically by Yorkton and they will need to answer the bell against Weyburn on Friday. The Wings are big and fast and will cause Kindersley fits if they dont start throwing the body around. I would recommend the boys eat a ton of wheaties and protein today to prepare for tomorrow night.

Kindersley looks to rebound on home ice after a miserable road swing. Prior to the road trip, Kindersley had won back to back games at the WCEC with wins over Notre Dame and Estevan. Despite Kindersleys record of 8-22-2-1 they are pretty good on home ice. They sit with a 6-7-1-1 record at the moment. Now you clearly need to be an above .500 team in this league on home ice to have a sniff at the playoffs. Kindersley will get a great opportunity to rally a few wins together playing their next 6 games on home ice. At this point with the Klippers young team you either get a really fired up bunch or a lack luster performance which could happen on any given night. The young squad is still trying to find consistency and they will need to find it soon if they want to make the playoffs. Notre Dame lost last night which leaves them at 6 points up on the Klippers, now with only one game in hand.

In terms of Yorkton they are still not out of Kindersleys reach. The up and down Terriers sit 12 points up on the Klippers coming into tonight's game. It had seamed as if Yorkton had found their game winning 4 in a row but they have more recently dropped back to back contests. The Terriers have won both meetings against the Klippers this season, the 1st was a come from behind 4-3 overtime victory at the WCEC back on Nov 9th. The 2nd was a 6-3 Yorkton victory on their home ice back on November 23rd. Both games were hard fought physical battles that you should expect to see carry over into tonight.

Just a reminder if you are coming down to the WCEC tonight that it you are asked to bring any new unwrapped toys down to the game. It's the centre's annual toy drop program, which partners with the community Christmas hamper campaign to make sure those less fortunate in Kindersley have Christmas dinner and gifts under the tree Christmas morning. The Crisis center will be taking toy donations at the entrance to the arena, and will also have a receipt book available if anyone would like to make cash donations to the campaign.

Klippers Drop 3 Straight On Weekend Road Swing

The road woes continue for the Kindersley Klippers as they dropped all 3 games on this past weekends road swing. With the loses Kindersley now falls to a league worst 2-15-1-0 on the road this season.

The road trip started out with Kindersley showing a ton of fight against the defending league champions. This was a game that could of went either way in my mind as both teams went blow for blow. In the end the Ice Wolves were just a bit to much for the young Klippers to handle as they picked up a 6-5 win. A lot of positives were shown though by Kindersley. The young trio of Daniels, Davies and Stewart were arguably the best line on the ice for both teams. Davies scored his 1st 2 goals of the season, the first of which was a beautiful feed by Beau Stewart cross ice to Davies who did the rest. Davies 2nd marker was a snipe job. He took a pass from Daniels down the wing, walked in and went top corner with a riffle. It was one of the best looking shots I have seen in junior A hockey. Like I mentioned Kindersly played a hard game but a few defensive zone breakdowns lead to the Wolves victory. Kindersley also lost a couple players late in the game as Taylor Wasden took a strong check from Dumais forcing him to leave the contest. Wasden would not play the rest of the weekend but he is listed as day to day and should be good to go on Wednesday. In terms of Davies he was also day to day and missed Saturdays game but he was back in the lineup Sunday night out in Humboldt.

On to Saturdays game against Melfort, Kindersley to be frank layed an egg. They scored an early goal and played a hard opening period but after that it was almost as if they just gave up and thought they already sealed up the 2 points. Melfort would score 2 quick goals early in the 2nd period which took the life right out of Kindersley. After that marker a number of players looked like they had given up, there was no jump or urgency to the Klippers game and it was tough to watch. They really could of used a fight to spark the bench after Melfort had scored those 2 quick goals but no one stepped up and to be frank once again, someone needed to in the situation. The Klippers sure could of used Taylor Wasden and Zane Morin but unfortunately Wasden was injured and Morin had the flu. Kindersley had called up Jeremy Leclerc and also Chris Thorimbert and they were arguably the 2 best Klippers on the ice Saturday night. Leclerc just kept things simple from the back end and really looked comfortable out there. Thorimbert was using his speed and also created a number of scoring chances. I was really impressed with the way both those young kids played. Rockie Zinger agreed and felt they also were the 2 best players for his club.

Kindersley looked to salvage the road swing against the Humboldt Broncos on Sunday but were dropped by a score of 8-2. Despite the score, I thought Kindersley played a much better game then they did against Melfort. Some energy was created right off the opening puck drop when Brad Buckingham dropped the gloves with Taylor Johnson. It was a spirited fight with both players landing a few solid punches. I applaud Buckingham for doing what he did here because it showed the Broncos that Kindersley was there to play and they weren't going to back down. The fight seemed to spark the Klippers bench as they would score the 1st goal of the contest from David Haaf who fired a quick shot from the point on the powerplay. About a minute later though Humboldt would respond with a quick strike from Matt Glowa who walked in and let go a nasty back hand that went bar down to tie the game at 1. The Broncos weren't finished there as they then scored the go ahead marker just over a minute later from Robbie Ciolfi. Kindersley really fell asleep after the Broncos took the lead and Humboldt cashed in 2 more goals to give them a 4-1 lead shortly after. I have never seen a team turn it on quite like the Broncos managed to do in that situation, they scored 4 goals all within a minute and forty five seconds time. It had looked like it was going to get ugly from there but it didn't. Yes the Broncos won by a final of 8-2 but Kindersley somewhat sustained them the rest of the way through, in the end though the Broncos were just to much to handle for the young Klipper squad. On a positive note Kindersley had also called up Cody McKinnon and Kadin Schmaltz for Sundays game. Just like Leclerc and Thorinbert did on Saturday, these 2 youngster provided Kindersley with some quality minutes. Schmaltz is a good skater and will likely be a Klipper next season. Mckinnon was also very impressive up front, he works hard and has some offensive upside to his game. I would say the future is bright for Kindersley who is already a young team to begin with but they have a number of prospects that will be very solid Junior A hockey players in the near future. Quickly on the Broncos side, Taylor Duzan made his Bronco debut and he played a pretty solid game. He picked up an assist on the 4th Bronco goal and was his usual self in terms of competing hard. He was lined up with Kieser and Johnson in his debut, and at times they showed some good chemistry. Moving forward Bronco fans will be very happy to have Taylor Duzan on their squad.

Having said all that Kindersley as a team failed to take care of business on this road swing and the Notre Dame Hounds made them pay over the weekend. Notre Dame took down Melville and Nipawin increased there Sherwood Standings cushion to a 6 point deficit with 2 games in hand. The good news for Kindersley is they play their final 6 games before the Christmas break all on home ice.

Klippers Send Duzan To The Humboldt Broncos

Just got word of the deal around 7:30 PM. Duzan has been subject to trade rumors ever since he sat out Monday nights game against Estevan. With the roster cut down deadline looming the Klippers officially shipped him off to Humboldt. Seeing Duzan go was something I was hoping wouldn't happen. He is one of the most exciting players I have ever seen play the game of hockey and not seeing him in a Klipper uniform will be tough for alot of Kindersley fans moving forward. Unfortunately for Kindersley fans, with the focus on rebuilding for the future this move was necessary. I know Duzan did not want to leave Kindersley but he now gets to showcase his skills on Junior A's biggest stage with the Humboldt Broncos at the Royal Bank Cup.

In terms of who the Klippers get back in the deal, they receive 1995 born prospect Matt McLeod and future considerations. He is currently playing with the Saskatoon Blazers. He has 5 goals and 6 assists in 20 games this season. In terms of the futures, that of course at the moment is not known but one could assume the futures will be significant. More to come shortly

Klippers Trade Captain Hoffman To Weyburn

A big deal just broke this afternoon between the Kindersley Klippers and the Weyburn Red Wings. Kindersley has traded home captain Jordon Hoffman and Aaron Letourneau to the Weyburn Red Wings in exchange for Trent Hermary, prospects Micheal Statchuk and Kody Thue, and futures.

Before I comment on who the Klippers are getting back I have to touch on Jordon Hoffman. I am sure this was an extremely tough decision for the Klippers organization to have to make. I know Hoffman loved everything about being a Klipper and gave it everything he had day in and day out to become the player he is at this stage of his career. He was very well respected around the community, by his teammates and fans of the Klippers. It's sad to see him go but he really makes Weyburn that much stronger. Here is a guy that will be just what Dwight McMillan expects from his players. He likes hard working guys and that is exactly what Hoffman will give the Wings. This deal may really put Weyburn over the top.

Letourneau also goes over in the deal. He is a younger puck moving defenseman that just needs some time to develop. Great kid and I wish him the best of luck in a Weyburn uni.

Taking a look at who Kindersley receives, Trent Hermary will step into the Klipper lineup this season. He is a 18 year old SJHL rookie who currently has 4 goals, 5 assists in 19 games as a Red Wing. He is a hardworking forward that really caught my eye in the Klippers game against Weyburn on there most recent road trip.

In terms of Micheal Statchuk he is a 1994 dman playing for the Prince Albert Mintos. Rockie said he is a bit of a wildcard as there are some rumors he may go play out in the BCHL next season. Zinger mentioned that he was worth taking a chance on to try and get him to come here. He is currently a point per game dman out in Prince Albert.

In terms of Cody Thue he projects as a big shutdown defensman. He is 6"1 and 185 pounds as a 17 year old. Zinger mentions that he hopes for him to step into the lineup next season but also maybe be a call up down the road this season.

Ullsy: A big blockbuster trade here, you deal your home captain Jordon Hoffman and rookie defenseman Aaron Letourneau to Weyburn. You get a hefty return but I am sure it must of been extremely hard to have to part with a leader and player like Jordon Hoffman?

Rockie: It's always tough, you know Hoffman has given the Klippers 3 good years It was a tough situation here for Jordon but he gets to go to a team that's sitting 1st place in the division. With that coaching staff over there we think that Hoffman will fit right in pretty seamlessly with the way he works day in and day out. In terms of Letourneau it hopefully gives him a chance to see some more ice with the Wings. It's a tough deal for us but one we feel will strengthen us moving forward.

Ullsy: You mention moving forward, 2 of the guys you get back are prospects but in terms of Hermary he is a 18 year old rookie playing in the SJHL right now, do you expect him to step right into the lineup?

Rockie: We are hoping that he will, we will touch base with him shortly. He is a player that came from a strong Midget AAA program in Red Deer last year. He plays with a bit of an edge with some offensive skill. The thing that most impressed us when we played against Weyburn was his commitment to coming back hard into his own zone.

Ullsy: In terms of the 2 prospects you acquire, can you shed some light on those 2?

Rockie: In Statchuk he is currently playing for the Prince Albert Mintos. He is producing right now at a point per game clip from the back end. Hes a bit of a wildcard as there are some rumors that he might want to go follow in his brothers footsteps by playing in the BCHL. Bit of a risk but we feel its worth taking the chance to try and get him to come here.

In Thue, he is also a 94 dman but kind of the opposite spectrum of what Statchuk is. He is projected as a big shutdown guy. Hes close to 200 pounds and is listed as 6"1 and were looking for him to step into our lineup next year. We also are hoping to maybe call him up and get him in some Junior A action this season to give him a taste. Were pleased with the prospects and Trent Hermary coming in now and we feel they will position us to make some noise in the near future.

Klippers Win Back To Back Games With 3-2 Shootout Victory

Game Notes:

- This was the best team effort I seen Kindersley bring all season. Everyone on the team was working their bags off last night from start to finish and in the end they were rewarded with a victory.

- The game needed extra time and a shootout. In the shootout Bosovich got the ball going first with a goal for Kindersley. Olson tied it up on the Bruins 2nd shot putting the pressure back on the Klippers. A glimpse of the future was then on display for the Klippers as 17 year old rookie Colby Daniels walked in and riffled one past Tendler to retake the shootout lead. It all came down to Dylan Smith against his former teammate Brandon Stone. Stone stopped him to pick up his 2nd straight win in a Klippers uniform. It had to feel extra special for the youngster against the team that traded him only a few days prior.

- The forth line of Taylor Wasden, Travis Geislinger and Bradley Buckingham might have been the most effective line for the Klippers on the evening. Wasden had a big fight in the 2nd period to kind of slow down the Bruins momentum after he took it to Soper. The line was getting rewarded for their efforts late in the 3rd period and they would make the most of those opportunities. Taylor Wasden threw a centering pass out in front, it went off a stick and into the back of the net. I had thought it hit a Bruin defenders stick at 1st but the official goal got credited to Brad Buckingham. Either way I don't think the 3 of them really care who scored, they all picked up a well deserved point on the play.

- Kindersley won last nights contest without two of their best players in Taylor Duzan and Jordon Hoffman. You could see a number of players step up making the most of there opportunities. With Hoffman being traded today, the young players will need to continue to do this for Kindersley to have a shot at the playoffs.

- I feel this might be the best time for Kindersley to hit the road again. They are going to get down to numbers before the road stand, which means it will be a chance for a team to bond together that will most likely stick together for the most part, for the remainder of the season. They have some confidence after back to back wins and could surprise a few teams this weekend.

Klippers Snap 10 Game Skid

It was a huge victory for the Kindersley Klippers on Saturday night at the WCEC. Firstly they snapped a ten game losing skid and secondly they beat a team they needed to beat in the Notre Dame Hounds. It wasn't the prettiest victory but you knew it was going to take a hard working gritty effort in order for Kindersley to break out of their funk. Tanner Kissick lead the way for the Klips with 2 goals including the game winner and Brandon Stone picked up his 1st victory in a Klippers uniform stopping 23 of 25 shots. A huge sigh of relief was lifted off the Klippers shoulders and tonight we will see if they can keep the ball rolling against a strong Estevan Bruins squad.

Klippers Send Mysiorek To Flin Flon and More Moves

Well so much for a nice relaxing Saturday afternoon haha. I am sure alot of you sensed moves would be made. It started yesterday afternoon when a trade was completed to bring in goaltender Brandon Stone from Estevan. More on that in a bit but a blockbuster deal between Kindersley and Flin Flon has been completed.

Kindersley has dealt Jesse Mysiorek to the Flin Flon Bombers in exchange for the rights to Jesse Mychan, Connor Gay and cash.

This was a move I am sure Kindersley wasn't expecting to make at the start of the season but it has become evident that the Klippers need to commit to the rebuild. Mysiorek has spent his entire Junior A career in Kindersley and had hoped to finish it as a Klipper. I know it was tough for Kindersley to have to move there leading point getter, but it is a win win for both organizations. Flin Flon who I have heard numerous rumors to having had interest in Mysiorek now officially bring him into the fold. It really gives them a versatile power forward that can score, hit and play a solid two way game. Mysiorek will be a treat for Flin Flon fans to watch, he plays exactly the style of play most fans in Flin Flon go to the games to see. I wish Mysiorek the best of luck moving forward, he was a good hockey player but even a better guy to get to know. I know he leaves behind alot of friends in Kindersley and it will likely be a sad day for him to have to leave but he is going to a strong Bombers squad that has a chance to win it all this season. I am not sure who Mysiorek will play with on a line but if you put him with Jay Young, you have your SJHL equivalent to Lucic and Horton in the NHL.

Kindersley brings in Connor Gay and the rights to Jesse Mychan. Mychan is one of those risk players that could pan out big for the club. I say risk because he is currently playing in the WHL for the Everett Silvertips. It is unknown if he will stick there the rest of the season but he is 19 years of age meaning he could also come back to Kindersley as a 20 year old for his final year.

In terms of Connor Gay, this is the main piece in the deal. At the age of 16 Gay is putting together a very good season in Midget AAA. He is playing with the Saskatoon Blazers and currently leads his club in points with 24 in 18 games. That is good for 11th in AAA scoring. I don't know much about the youngster at the moment but he is a Saskatoon product and will get to play close to home in Kindersley likely next season.

I will chat with Rockie prior to tonight's contest regarding the Mysiorek deal.

The other trade I eluded to yesterday afternoon on twitter was the acquisition of goaltender Brandon Stone. Stone was brought in from Estevan for future considerations. The Bruins had 3 solid and had to move one. I had a chance to see Stone play last Friday out in Estevan. He started the game for the Bruins picking up the W. He was very solid in that contest making a number of ridiculous saves. He is 17 years of age and was re assigned by the Moose Jaw Warriors back in October. So far in his SJHL career he has a 4-1 record with a 3.46 GAA and .892 save %.

The Klippers had 3 goaltenders with that acquistion, well now they have 2. Fraser Abdallah has been released by the team meaning they are moving forward with McDonald and Stone.

It also sounds like Kade Halabuza has walked from the Klippers. I really enjoyed getting to know Kade, he was a good kid and hilarious to talk to. Not sure what his plans are but he wasn't getting much game action which is likely why he has decided to leave. More on this aswell tonight

It has been a busy day for the Klippers organization and they may not be done yet. I will keep you updated throughout the day. Oh ya and there is indeed still a game tonight, a big one for the Klippers. I will get to a pregame report later this afternoon.

Friday Hits - What does the team have planned moving forward

I took a day off from the blog scene on Thursday. We arrived back at 4 AM from Yorkton and I had to head right into work at the radio station for morning news. It was a rough morning that lead to me sleeping all afternoon. Now that I am rested up we can reflect on the past roadtrip, hit up a few rumors and tee up Saturdays contest.

- The roadtrip was clearly a disappointment as Kindersley dropped all 5 games. Away from home has not been kind to Kindersley this year as they have only picked up 2 road wins all season long. Looking at the 5 games on this road swing there were a few positives. Kindersley was competitive and in 4 out of the 5 games. A few bounces in their favor in games at Estevan, Weyburn, Melville or Yorkton and Kindersley may have had a few wins.

- The most disappointing game of the road trip clearly was Monday nights game out in Wilcox. Kindersley was preparing for this game like it was a playoff tilt but when they hit they ice they were flat. Notre Dame was a team that was playing their 3rd game in 3 nights. Kindersley had a day off and should of had that extra jump but for whatever reason the team didn't show up. The good news for Kindersley is they get a 2nd chance against the Hounds this Saturday on home ice.

- Team bonding was a big positive throughout the road trip. I know it didn't translate into wins on this previous road stand but moving forward I do think it will serve beneficial.

- Many people have asked me what is wrong with the Klippers right now. How can a team drop 10 straight games? That answer I do not have, but in order to get out of the skid Kindersley cant get down on themselves. They just have to work harder, they may think they are working as hard as they can but they need to dig deep and work as hard as they ever have. After a skid like this that first win after is going to feel amazing and should fuel them moving forward.

- In a pregame interview prior to the Melville game I asked Rockie Zinger straight up what the plans were for the club moving forward via the trade front. Here is what Zinger had to say. " What I can say is that moves made moving forward will made for the best intentions long term. I think when you step back and step out of your competitive shoes that your standing in right now in this very day and you look at what you have moving forward I think we have a good core. I was just taking to Jamie Fiesel downstairs in Melville's office and he was talking about how some of his young guys last year have really taken another step forward this year and been better than he expected. We are hoping that same course of action happens with our guys, and if given the opportunity it might even happen a little quicker than next year. There are alot of decisions needing to be made and you want to do whats best for the players and other whats belt for the organization so its a fine line that you gotta tilt. "

- There is no time table on when or if moves will be made but I really feel this clearly is the right move for the organization. Some of the younger players are starting to already emerge as leaders on this team. Watching this team you know that alot of the young guys are going to be top offensive players in the SJHL so why not give them a chance to run with it now and develop and gain confidence in their rookie seasons. As Rockie mentioned even though moves may be made they are not giving up on the season. The goal moving forward is to still make the playoffs and Kindersley certainly has a chance to squeak in.

- All kinds or rumors are circulating on the trade front right now. At this point of time I have nothing to report and as Rockie Zinger informed me, if a move is made I will be the first to know.

- In terms of comments on this blog there have been all kinds of negative comments that are really frustrating. Kindersley has been a top contender for a number of years. They lost 9 vets last season all of which were great players for this team. You look at guys that left, Johnny Calkins, Andrew Dommett, Kurt Leedahl and John Sonntag. This was a team that was built to win last season and didn't win. Those players graduate and you are left with a younger squad. There is no player on this team right now as offensively gifted as a player like John Calkins. There is no d man as sound defensively as a Kurt Leedahl at this moment, so I am not sure what some of you posters expect. Those players certainly weren't the players they are today when they were 18 years of age. Andrew Domment scored 2 goals in his 18 year old campaign. The tools have been put in place for a successful couple of years for Kindersley moving forward and now it is up to Rockie Zinger and Chris Forsman to develop these players into stars. This already is the youngest team in the league and it will likely be getting younger in the near future. At the start of the season I know the Klippers organization didn't come right out and say it was going to be a rebuild year. No team is going to come out and say that before the year starts, but at this point of time it clearly is just that. The fans should get behind these young players and support them. Make them want to be in Kindersley and want to win for this town moving forward. Some of these comments being posted on the blog make me sick and wont be published unless they have merrit and an explanation. Opinion is fine and I would love to hear from all of the educated fans, but for those of you coming on hear just to curse and chirp the organization, wont be published. Give the coaching staff a chance moving forward, give this team a chance. A plan is in place, the young players have the building tools to be great in the SJHL and who knows, they could creep into the playoffs and catch a few teams sleeping as early as this season.

- I for one have a ton of fun broadcasting these games and watching this team work hard and develop. They are showing signs and should continue to get better game in and game out. There is an extremely important game that is going to be played Saturday night here in town and I hope to see the fans come out and support this club. That's all I got for now, have a great weekend!

Long Road Trip Comes To An End Tonight From Yorkton

It has not been a kind roadtrip for the Kindersley Klippers who have now dropped 9 straight contests including a thriller from Melville last night. After a very disappointing game against Notre Dame, Kindersey bounced back and brought everything they had to the table last night against the money men. Kindersley held a 2-1 lead after forty after playing a very good opening 2 periods. Brett Blatz scored the only goal of the 2nd as he riffled home his 1st SJHL marker on a wrister from the blueline.

The third period came around and at about the ten minute mark you could see the momentum start to shift. Melville got a powerplay and they would capitalize off of the stick of Jesse Mireau for his 2nd of the game which would tie the contest. You could somewhat sense disaster coming after the tieing marker, but at the same time were thinking Kindersley is due for a win, you have to think the next bounce would go their way, WRONG!

Taylor Duzan was called for a hooking penalty. Now I don't like to knock officials but Duzan by no means at all made a hooking gesture or anything close to it and he was sent to the box. That was blow one for Kindersley, blow two was a shot from the blueline by Christensen that would of went well wide that ends up hitting his teammate Trudeau in the visor. His visor cracked and ended up coming off and the play would continue. After it hit his visor it bounced right to McNulty in front of the goal for an easy tap in. From my understanding, it was indeed a good goal as even though Trudeaus visor came off, he was not involved in the play and his team still had possession of the puck which lead to the McNulty put back to give the Mills the 3-2 lead with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game. After that on another powerplay Lowe-wylde would seal the deal and Melville would win their 5th in a row by a score of 4-2. I guess it really is true than when your in a rut no bounces go your way. I'm not a broadcaster that is going to sit here an make a bunch of excuses but I really felt bad for the Klippers last night. They brought everything they had in order to try and snap the skid but nothing went their way. They are working hard but for whatever reason can not get a bounce. Having said that I would think that if they can bring that compete level again tonight against Yorkton they may be able to prevent the skid from going to 10 straight loses.

Pre game tee up:

It's going to be another stiff test for Kindersley as they will play their 3rd game in 3 nights against a strong Yorkton squad. The Terriers are starting to find more consistency in their game having won 3 of the last 4. They also found a way to beat Kindersley in the 2 teams only meeting of the season thus far back on Nov.9th with a 4-3 overtime victory. As bad as this slide has been for Kindersley, a win tonight really could turn things around in time for Saturdays meeting at home when they once take on the Hounds. I know this team gets fired up whenever they are up against Yorkton. The Terriers have really had Kindersleys number over the past few seasons knocking them out of the post season back to back years. I talked with Yorkton head coach Trent Cassan on last nights broadcast as he was in attendance to watch Kindersley and Melville play. He mentioned he liked what Kindersley brought to the table last night and said his team will have to be ready to play tomorrow night. It should be a high spirited, physical affair from the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Huge Game Tonight For Kindersley Out In Wilcox

This is with out a doubt the biggest game of the season for the Kindersley Klippers up to this point, the same could be said for the Notre Dame Hounds.

Kindersley is coming off two losses to start the road swing but have shown alot of positive signs. Kindersley went toe-to-toe with the Sherwood's best on Saturday night falling just short. The big thing for the Klippers in that game was the fact that they out played Weyburn for the most part of forty minutes. They came out slow in the 1st but overall Kindersley held fort with Weyburn which should give them some confidence for tonight's tilt with the Hounds. Notre Dame sits 4 points up on Kindersley for the last playoff spot in the Sherwood making tonight's game pivotal. Kindersley really cant afford to lose tonight's game, its as close to a must win at this point in the campaign.

The Hounds on the other hand are a solid hockey club that gave Battlefords a run for their money last night forcing a shootout and picking up an important point. Both teams are on lengthy win less droughts and something will have to give tonight. If Kindersley plays the way they did against Weyburn on Saturday, I think they should have no problems picking up the 2 points tonight. The Klippers will be well rested having had Sunday off where as Notre Dame will play their 3rd straight contest in 3 nights.

A few players to watch tonight in green are Wheaton King and Beau Stewart. King had a big offensive night picking up 3 points on Saturday and likely has lifted a monkey off his back. His line along with McGrath and McDonald were the best trio for Kindersley against Weyburn. The other player to keep an eye on is Beau Stewart, the guy can fly and he was buzzing on Saturday. He has found good chemistry on a line with Davies and Kissick and they should be a line that can add some secondary points moving forward.

Last time these two teams met Kindersley skated to a 6-2 victory on home ice. It will be a tougher contest out in Wilcox on Notre Dame ice. Kindersley Looks For Better Fate Tonight Out In Weyburn

Kindersley opened up the 5 game Southern road swing with a 6-3 loss to the Estevan Bruins. It was a closer game then the score may have indicated with both teams trading blow for blow.

Game notes:

- Kindersley really had enough scoring chances to win last nights games which really hasn't been the case in their previous 3 losses prior to last night. Offensively Kindersley looked good with a number of grade A scoring chances that werent turned into goals. In the first period on a powerplay Jesse Mysiorek missed 2 point blank chances, 2 that he would of liked to have back. Justin Lund had a breakaway chance where he undressed Stone with a dirty dangle but couldn't find net. Those were just a few of the chances but overall Kindersleys offense was their last night which is a good sign moving forward on this road stint.

- Kindersley took a lead one minute in to the hockey game off of the stick of Jesse Mysiorek. Things were looking positive until two big defensive zone breakdowns. The first Blatz and Gedny had a miscommunication as they tried to go D to D in their own end which resulted in a turnover and a tieing marker for Estevan. The 2nd Bruins goal was another tough break for Kindersley as Gedny tried to slide to puck back into McDonald but instead it went into to back of the net. If it wasn't for those two costly mistakes in the 1st period the game outcome might have been different.

- The main concern in that contest was once against Kindersley was unable to shut down the opposing teams number one line. Smith had a hatty, Neufeld had 3 points and Olsen added 2 assists. Kindersley will need to have an answer tonight for Ross, Sanderson and Bruce to win the hockey game.

Turning to tonight's contest

- In terms of Ross he in on a absolute tear right now with 23 goals and 20 assists in 26 games good for third in the SJHL scoring race. His line with Bruce and Sanderson have size, speed and a ton of skill that will serve as a tough task all night for the Klipper defense.

- I would guess that Weyburn will start their backup net minder tonight as Kilgore played last night against Battlefords. I don't no much about Teskey but I would say that would be a good thing for the Klippers as we all seen what Kilgore did last year in the opening round of the playoffs against Kindersley.

- Coming into the road trip I felt Weyburn would be the Klippers toughest test of the road trip. That is largely because of their size, they are big squad so it will be interesting to see how Kindersley can match up physically tonight. This will be the 1st of 6 meetings on the season for both clubs, and if Kindersley can pull off a win that would set them up nicely for Mondays game against Notre Dame.

- For Kindersley I am not sure what the lineup will look like tonight but Tanner Kissick will once again dress. I thought he looked great last night in his return and he should be more comfortable this evening.

Their is no denying the fact that the Klippers are slumping right now. They failed to take care of business on home ice over their most recent homestand and dropped Tuesdays contest out on the road in Battlefords. Having said that Kindersley is still only 3 points back of Notre Dame and will be desperate to string together a few wins on this road trip. Their 1st 2 games of the trip may be the toughest against Estevan tonight and Weyburn tomorrow.

I have yet to see the Bruins play a full game so far this season so I don't no exactly what to expect from them. I can tell you that they have a lot of fire power lead by Dylan Smith and Calder Neufeld are are lighting the league on fire at the moment. Kindersley has had trouble shutting down teams number one lines of late and you can be sure Kindersley will be trying to key in on Smith and Neufeld tonight.

Bit of a surprise that this will be the 2 teams first meeting of the season. They are still set to meet 5 times after tonight's contest. Kindersley has struggled away from home this season so starting the road trip out on a positive could be huge team confidence boost. I know alot of people will look at this road swing and say the Klippers are in trouble but I feel this could be just what the team needs. They know they are struggling and they want to be better, so getting away from home may be just what they need. That is certainly taking a positive approach as this road trip could also be just what the Klippers didn't need. The fact is it is up to the players to give everything they have this weekend and hope the results are in their favor.

The North Stars show Kindersley why they are # 1 in the SJHL

The Battlefords North Stars showed the Klippers why they are the best team in the SJHL last night with a decisive 5-1 victory that could of been alot worse for the Klippers if not for Justin McDonald. McDonald was once again hung out to dry by his hockey club as he was peppered with 46 shots on goal. Kindersley could of been down by 2 or 3 goals through 20 but McDonald stopped all 13 shots thrown his way in the opening frame. Kindersley did a good job on the penalty kill in the 1st period killing off a lengthy 5 on 3 and 2 other minors. Despite being out shot 13-3 in the 1st it really was an entertaining period. The one thing I liked about Kindersleys games off the hop was they were very physical. A number of their smaller forwards were throwing their weight around, and Brett Blatz took exception to Keller on a checking from behind hit early in the hockey game. Have to give Blatz some props for the fire he showed but it really was a mismatch against a much smaller Keller. Blatz took it to Keller in the fight, but I also have to give Keller some props for coming back in the contest after that fight and scoring a big goal for the Stars.

The 2nd period started out being dominated by the Stars off the hop and it lead to an early period marker. Blake Tatchell make a ridiculous no look back hand pass right on the tape to Johnson in the slot who fired home his 10th of the season. Kindersley somewhat weathered the storm after that and we seen a back and forth pace for the most part of the period. At the 15:19 mark Taylor Wasden make a big defensive play in his own end intercepting a centering pass which lead to a 2 on 1 back the other way. Wasden slide it cross ice to Daniels in neutral ice and Daniels did the rest driving wide and firing a hot shot from the left side circle glove side on Hilldebrand to tie the hockey game. Unfortunately for the Klippers Blake Tachell and Braeden Johnson decided they were going to give the crowd an encore as they connected 37 seconds after Kindersleys goal to take back the lead.

Onto the 3rd period now as Kindersley still had a chance to get back in the game but another early period marker really took the life out of the Klippers . Keller made it 3 - 1 on a wrap around stuff and then after that Kindersley got in some more penalty trouble. Braeden Johnson would complete the hat trick on the powerplay and Blake Tatchell would add some insurance with another powerplay marker for the Stars to ice the Klippers. The Stars lost 5-1 to the Klippers on home ice opening night, well they reversed the score in their favor the improve to 3-1 against the Klippers this season.

A few other game notes

- The game sheet has a few mistakes. They gave credit to Bosovich on the goal but he was no where near the play and if I remember correctly wasn't even on the ice. I am sure they will change the goal from Bosovich to Daniels shortly. The sheet also has Johnson scoring the Stars 5th goal, that should change to Tatchell.

- Good news for the Klippers is they remain only 3 points back of the Hounds in the Sherwood standings. The Hounds lost 7-2 last night against Estevan.

- Kindersley will depart for their longest road trip of the season Friday morning. All 5 games are against Sherwood opponents ahead of them in the standings. The trip will either see Kindersley gain ground in the playoff picture or it could really drop them out of contention. Tuesdays game against Notre Dame will be the biggest game of the trip.

Tonight marks the 1st of 6 away from home for Kindersley. They will play in Battlefords tonight and then have a few days off before heading to Estevan Friday to start off a tough 5 games in 6 nights.

In terms of tonight, Kindersley will be in tough against the best club in the SJHL.

Lineup notes, Kindersley will be without Taylor Duzan tonight who had to attend a funeral back home in Saskatoon. Tanner Kissick also remains out with injury

Klippers get routed 7-2 on home ice by the Mills

Well it was about as ugly as it could get in Sunday nights affair for the Kindersley Klippers. Melville was a team that was playing their 3rd game in 3 nights and they out skated, outworked and obviously outscored Kindersley on route to a 7-2 victory. Kindersley played a pretty solid opening twenty minutes with the exception of the 1st 32 seconds which saw Melvilles number one line strike for the 1st of many on the evening. Jesse Mireau somehow maneuvered around 3 Klipper players before feeding a back door pass to Trudeau who banged it in to make it 1-0 early. Kindersley responded with a ton of jump and were at one point outhooting Melville 11-1. Kindersley killed off a 5 on 3 and you would of thought that would of given them some momentum to start the 2nd frame, but that wasn't the case. It really started to get ugly for Kindersley in the 2nd period and got even worse in the 3rd. They had no answer for the line of Mireau, McNulty and Trudeau who combined for 12 points on the night. That line really made Kindersley look silly every time they were on the ice, Mireau lead the way on that line with 6 points of his own.

A few quick notes:

- Kindersleys special teams which have been strong all season was not good tonight. They were 1 for 7 on the power play and gave up 3 power play goals against.

- Kindersley started to play fired up late in the third period because they were obviously upset, but I seen not of that fire for the most part of that hockey game.

- Kindersley may have had alot of shots in the game but they made life for Voth easy once again. Guys on the team that can really fire the puck were throwing muffins at the net all night long.

- I must of seen at least 15 point shots fired right into the Melville fwds shin pads. Its great that the D are starting to shoot but you have to get them on net.

- On a positive note Bradley Buckingham scored his 1st and then his 2nd goal of the season. He has been snake bitten this year and he certainly lifted alot of weight off his shoulders tonight. I really could see him start to score at a consistent rate now moving forward

- Another positive was the play of new defenseman Steven Normand. He was thrown into the fire but looked solid in his 1st game as a Klipper

Overall it was a lackluster homestand for the Klippers who picked up 2 points in the 4 home games. They certainly didnt make life easy for themselves with their next 6 games on the road. First up is Battlefords on Tuesday.

Klippers drop 1st of 2 against Mills 4-1

Kindersley kept pace in the shot department but I felt they didn't take enough quality shots on Voth who picked up his 1st SJHL victory in his 1st start. Melville on the other hand was generating high quality scoring chances all night long, forcing Justin McDonald to make a lot of big saves through out the game. McDonald really allowed his club to keep pace last night, he did let in 4 goals but overall he put together another quality start that unfortunately for him did not lead to a W. In terms of Melville I really noticed last night that they love to get their dmen involved. Guys like Christensen and Newell move the puck very well and aren't afraid to step up in the rush. The Melville squad that I seen last night was the best I seen that bunch play in the 3 meetings so far this season. Having a healthy Christensen really solidifies their hockey club. Russell Trudeau also looked great in only his 3rd SJHL game. The youngster was recently acquired from Steinbach for Owen, and Rakochy. He had 2 goals and an apple and was buzzing all night long. For Kindersley to be successful on Sunday, they will need to find a way to get more pressure from their wingers onto the Mills defense. They will also need to find a way to shut down the number one trio of McNulty, Mireau and Trudeau. In my mind Sundays game is a must win for Kindersley, I know it's tough to say that when being only a third into the season, but Kindersley really needs a big win before their upcoming long road trip. They will play Tuesday in Battlefords and then after that play 5 games over a 6 day span. Melville should be a tired hockey team come Sunday as they play out in Battlefords tonight.

The money men will make their 1st visit of the season to Kindersley tonight. The two teams have met twice already this year, once in Melville and for the 2nd time at the SJHL Showcase in Estevan. Both games were close contests but Melville knocked off Kindersley in both meetings. The first was a 4-3 overtime victory, and the second a 4-2 win.

Kindersley has played well in their last 2 home contests but a few breakdowns have resulted in them giving up third period leads resulting in extra time loses. Kindersley will need 2 find a way to play a complete sixty minutes against a very tough Melville squad.

They Mills have appeared to turn it around and are starting to look like the team everyone expected they would be at the start of the season. Lee Christenson is back and they are hot at the moment with 2 big wins over Estevan and Weyburn in their past 2 contests.

For Kindersley Beau Stewart will make his debut and Justin McDonald will start in net. Here is tonight's Klipper lineup

In was Pink jersey night at the WCEC, but in the end it wasn't a pretty sight for the Klippers as they fell by a score of 4-3 in overtime.

Kindersley got off to a slow start putting their number one PK to the test against the leagues 2nd best powerplay. The Terriers would strike 1st on a tough bounce for Klippers dman David Haaf. He tried clearing the puck out of the zone, instead it ended up hitting Curtis Oliver in front of the net, bouncing off his shoulder and past Fraser Abdallah to give the dogs a 1-0 lead.

The Klippers didn't let that setback ruin their game plan as for the most part of the opening frame they controlled the play. At the 13:12 mark, Jesse Mysiorek got the equalizer on a Klippers powerplay. He used his strength to battle a defender in front and get a shot off that missed the net. The rebound popped out to Hoffman who tried to stuff it in himself but Mysiorek must of got a stick on it to stuff it home for his 10th of the season.

A few minutes after that Kindersley drew another penalty as Sam Rockwell took the gate for the 2nd straight time. Off of a draw late in the powerplay, McGrath won it back to Letoureau who went D to D quickly to David Haaf. Haaf fired one towards the goal as McGrath headed towards the front of the net getting a stick on it to redirect it home and give the Klippers their 1st lead of the hockey game.

The 2nd frame wasn't very exciting as no goals were scored. Kindersley was the more effective team in the frame but overall neither team generated much offense and the score remained 2-1 heading into the 3rd period.

In the third at the 8:39 disaster struck Kindersley for the 2nd time in the game. Sookro was driving wide on the powerplay taking the puck behind the net. As he got to the near side post he tried feathering a pass out front that was intercepted by Zane Morin. Morin appeared to shoot the puck which from my angle looked like he was trying to clear it into the corner but instead it went into the back of the net past Abdallah to tie the game at 2.

Once again Kindersley didn't let another breakdown effect their game as they would take the lead right back off of the stick of Jesse Mysiorek. The goal was a beauty by Mysiorek who took a pass from Hoffman along the neutral ice wall, he would then make a beauty move at the line showcasing his strength and skill as he backed handed one past Shymko to make it 3-2 Kindersley.

For the next few minutes things were looking good for Kindersley but for the 2nd straight game they failed to hold their 3rd period lead. Brett Struble would knot things up at 3 to force overtime action.

Back on Friday, Kindersley lost to Humboldt in a shootout so it was safe to say Kindersley was looking to end things with 4 on 4 action. Struble though was buzzing with momentum for the dogs as only 23 seconds into overtime he dashed down the left wing side, undressed a Klipper defender and fed one back door right on to the tape of Tyler Kiebel who had a easy tap in for the Yorkton victory.

Kindersley does pick up a point, but in this situation against a divisional opponent your trying to catch they really needed to pick up the 2. Overall Kindersley played a pretty solid game, minus the 2 defensive breakdowns. Unfortunately for Kindersley the one point didn't game them any ground in the Sherwood standings as Notre Dame and Melville both picked up wins last night.

The loss makes Fridays game against Melville that much more important and that much more tougher. Kindersley really needs to take advantage of these next 2 home games against the money men. Melville will play 3 games in 3 nights on their weekend road swing.

On a side note, Kindersley raised $6200 on pink jersey night through a silent auction. I believe Jordon Hoffman's jersey went for the most money, last I seen it was at $750. I will get the official jersey sale numbers from all the players some time this morning and post it up on the blog. I also am hoping to get up some pictures shortly from the night courtesy of Clarion sports report Kirk Verner.

In terms of post game interviews, I chatted with Chris Forsman in the broadcast booth as usual but didn't get a chance to talk to Rockie Zinger. The team was having a closed door meeting in the dressing room for about 45 minutes after the game. I waited around for a bit but couldn't wait much longer as I had to get home to sleep with a 4 AM wake up call at the radio station. Check back shortly for pics and info from last nights pink jersey night. I am also planning on catching up with Justin Lund sometime this afternoon before he heads off to Langley B.C for the CJHL's top prospects game this weekend.

Kindersley Set To Host Yorkton On Pink Jersey Night

Kind of hard to believe this will be the 1st meeting of the season between the Kindersey Klippers and the Yokrton Terriers. The Terriers were responsible for knocking Kindersley out of the playoffs having swept them in 4 straight games in last seasons Sherwood Final.

Both teams are different clubs from a season ago, but a number of players from each squad will still have the series fresh on their minds, especially the Klipper players who may look for some revenge here tonight.

Kindersley will play their next 3 games at home against divisional opponents and getting out to a good start on this swing will be very important. Lose the 1st one and the 2nd and 3rd games against Melville get tougher. Kindersley really cant afford to drop down any further in the Sherwood standings especially with a very long road trip starting next week. The time is now for Kindersley to take their game to a consistent level. They are no longer banged up and as Rockie Zinger put it after the last game against Humboldt, it's time to put up or shut up.

In terms of Yorkton, I cant tell you much about them since I have yet to see them this season. I had a brief chat with Trent Cassan at the showcase and he mentioned his team was in a similar situation to Kindersley as they are struggling to find consistency. He mentioned his team looking great one night and not so great the next.

Kindersley will look to pick up the big W sporting pink jerseys tonight in support of breast cancer research. The jerseys will be autographed by each player and put up for auction throughout the hockey game. Any fans coming tonight are also welcomed to wear pink to get entered in to win some door prizes.

Klippers deal Ryan Elliot for Beau Stewart and more news and notes

A few things to get to in this post, but first off the Kindersley Klippers have traded Ryan Elliot (92) to the Swan Valley Stampeders for Beau Stewart (93).

Ryan was brought in by Rockie Zinger last season and had a solid rookie campaign in the SJHL. This season he has been battling injury problems and has had trouble finding consistency to his game. A change of scenery may be just was Elliot needs to get back on track. He returns to his home province of Manitoba and I wish him the best of luck moving forward in his hockey career.

In terms of Beau Stewart the Klippers get a guy who is familiar with the SJHL and will add a bit more grit and size to the lineup. He is listed at 6'1" and suited up for 48 games with the Flin Flon Bombers last season. It is my understanding he had requested a deal out of Flon Flon earlier this year and was dealt to Swan Valley but now returns back to the SJHL.

I had a brief chat with Rockie this afternoon about the deal and he mentions the main focus on this deal was getting bigger up front. I will have more during tomorrows broadcast.

Kindersley also sent 18 year old defenseman Morgan Eaton back home. Morgan was a great kid who had improved alot since training camp. I'm sure it was hard on the organization to have to part ways with him as he worked hard and did everything he was asked of, but in the end he wasn't ready to be a regular in the SJHL. I do believe he can get their, he has the strength and size but just needs to work on his quickness and speed.

Also a big congrats to Klippers rookie forward Justin Lund as he was selected to play in the CJHL Prospects Game in Langley, BC. This is a pretty big honor for the youngster as it means that he is on NHL Central Scouting's radar. The top 40 NHL draft eligible players in the Canadian Jr A ranks are split into 2 teams, East and West. Lund will represent team West. He is 1 of 4 SJHL players selected. Lund will play tomorrow against Yorkton before playing to B.C. He will miss the weekend games but return in time for Tuesdays game on the road in Battlefords.

I should also note that yes the Klippers will be wearing pink jerseys during tomorrow nights game against Yorkton in support of breast cancer research. The jerseys will then be sold to the highest bidder in a silent auction.

A little late with the post game report but better late then never!

- What an exciting game it was on Friday night. Both teams played hard and exchanged chances back and forth all night long.

- Kindersley comes up with a point against a very good Broncos squad. Kindersley will look back at that game and be upset with themselves for giving up a 2 goal lead, but battling back late in the 3rd to tie things up was huge and I am sure at the end of the day the Klippers will take the one point.

- Humboldt's 2nd goal was questionable as Lawrence hammered it home right at the buzzer. Really in my mind the call could of went either way, their really was no way to 100% tell if it crossed the line or didn't without video replay. The ref though had to make a call and he felt he seen the puck go in before the sound of the buzzer and that goal would give the Broncos a big boost heading into the 3rd.

- Kindersley sure is an exciting team to watch with all their players back in the lineup. It was a long time since we seen the team near 100% healthy.

- Down the middle the Klippers are strong. Hoffman, King, Bosovich and McGrath were the 4 centers on Friday night and you could really see what having depth down the middle does to a hockey team. It will be tough to figure out who moves to the wing when Kissick gets back. Alot of you would say McGrath since he has played their most of the season, but I don't know if that's a good idea. McGrath has played his best hockey since moving to the middle, he is money in the faceoff circle, and he can play solid defensively in his own end. It will be a tough decision for Rockie with Kissick getting very close to returning.

- Defensively the young Klippers held their own against the high powered offense of the Broncos. I felt that Brett Blatz had a really solid game for Kindersley. I seen him match up a few tines against Andrew Johnston and he either knocked him off the puck or kept him to the outside when driving a number of times. Overall the entire d core looked good with the exception of the Davies goal when he danced around behind the net then walked out front and scored to give the Broncos the lead.

- Overall the game was in my mind a positive for this club. Last time they played Humboldt they were dominated from start to finish losing 7-2. This time however they were a skills competition away from picking up the 2 points which shows that this club is improving.

- Kindersley will finally start to play some Sherwood division opponents. They welcome in Yorkton for the 1st time this season on Wednesday and play host to Melville on Friday. The Sherwood division is very tight right now and Kindersley will need to take advantage of home ice over these next few games.

Klippers Welcome In The RBC Hosting Humboldt Broncos Tonight

Tonight the Klippers welcome the RBC hosting Humboldt Broncos for the first of 2 meetings at the WCEC. The Broncos on paper look scary with all kinds of talent but so far this year they have yet to dominate like expected. Having said that they may be heading in the right direction having won their past two contests. Back on October the 5th in Humboldt the Broncos skated all over Kindersley beating them 7-2. They looked scary good and I am surprised they haven't quite found their game so far this season. With all that fire power they can defiantly turn it on at any time. Robbie Ciolfi always seems to bring his A game against Kindersley and had a hattrick in the previous meeting in Humboldt. Andrew Johnston is currently ripping it up and is now leading the SJHL in points with 34 on the season. A player tonight to watch will be Josh Roach. He may be upset about not making team Canada West for this years Junior A Challenge and could have a chip on his shoulder tonight in Kindersley.

I'm very eager to see how the Klippers look tonight back on home ice after the road swing. Having a nice long break this week has certainly been beneficial for the club. For the first time in a long time the Klippers will be close to 100% healthy. Guys have been going out right left and center but tonight every one is active with the exception of Kissick. Bosovich, King and Hoffman will all return and Lund and Manhas are back from serving their 2 game suspensions. Not sure what the line combos are at the moment but their offensive attack will defiantly be alot deeper tonight. Assistant coach Chris Forsman said in the post game interview against Melfort that this game will be a huge measuring stick for his club. He went on to say he feels his club has improved drastically since the previous game against the Broncos. It should be a good game tonight at the WCEC, you can make your way down to the rink or catch tonight's web cast with pregame starting at 7:15.

Klippers Salvage The Road Trip With 3-0 Victory

Here is some notes from the win last night and a few notes from the weekend as a whole.

- Last night Kindersley snapped a 3 game skid taking down the Melfort Mustangs 3-0. The goals were scored by D Jay McGrath, Taylor Wasden and an empty netter by Taylor Duzan.

- Fraser Abdallah picked up the shutout, his 1st in the SJHL stopping 19 shots on route to the 3-0 victory. He wasn't tested much, most saves appeared routine for him but he was their for his team when he was needed. One thing that was very impressive on Sunday night was his puck movement. He was making crisp passes that really allowed Kindersley to quickly get set up back in the offensive zone.

- The Mustangs really lack firepower. They were without Bradshaw their leading point getting and certainly could of used him. I counted maybe 2 or 3 good quality scoring chances for the Mustangs on the night.

- Kindersley could of opened the game up to 6 or 7 nothing if they had capitalized on a few more chances. Bradley Buckingham and Colby Daniels were buzzing all night and could of both had hat tricks but they didn't have an answer for Wilkins.

- Kindersleys PK was an astonishing 16/16 on the weekend. They also had to kill off 2 lengthy 5on3 kills. They had climbed up to over 90% on the pk this season which is incredible. The only problem is Kindersley is taking a large amount of penalties with the exception being Sundays game as they only took 2. Taking so many penalties forces guys like Duzan, and Hoffman to have to go out an kill a ton of penalties rather than have them fresh for 5 on 5 action.

- Sundays win was a big one for Kindersley. They did it without 6 regulars from their lineup. Jordon Hoffman, Tanner Kissick, Brennen Bosovich, Wheaton King, Justin Lund, and Chris Manhas were all out of the lineup.

- A nice long break for Kindersley this week should allow them to get close to 100% for the game against Humboldt on Friday. Lund and Manhas will be back and by the sounds of it Hoffman, Kissick, and King should be back aswell. Bosovich is a bit iffy at this point but he is coming along well and may be able to dress for Fridays contest.

- With Hoffman gone for basically the entire weekend someone needed to step in and play center. That player was D Jay McGrath who filled the void very nicely. He had a goal and an assist over the weekend, was very sound defensively in his own end and he was money on the faceoff circle.

- In terms of the goaltending situation moving forward it appears both goalies are pushing each other to be better which is a good thing for Kindersley. Justin McDonald played outstanding on Friday night and deserved a better fate, and of course Abdallah got the shutout on Sunday, although only facing 19 shots. With both goalies playing solid, that bolds well for the team moving forward.

- Friday will be a big test for Kindersley when they take on the Humboldt Broncos who are struggling at the moment. A nice long rest and preparation should make for a great game at the WCEC.

I have a few interviews to get up from the weekend but bare with me. Rolled in around one and had to be up for work at 4 this morning with a bad cold. One more thing, how about those Oilers! First place in the Western Confrence, and the Bulin Wall is making alot of haters eat their words right now. Still very early in the season but you have to give the Oil some credit for their hot start.

Klippers fall in Nipawin and will look to salvage the road trip tonight in Melfort

It's been a tough road swing up to this point for Kindersley. They dropped the opener out in La Ronge 3-1 and last night they fell by a score of 4-0 to the Nipawin Hawks. The Hawks certainly deserved to win last night as they were the better team. They outworked, out muscled and of course outscored Kindersley on the score board. The first period was not pretty for Kindersley, they got in some penalty trouble once again and were outplayed heavily through 20. The only positive for Kindersley was that the score remained 0-0 after the period was through.

The Hawks stormed out the gate in the second, scoring only 8 seconds into the period off of the stick of Darius Cole. After the goal Kindersley somewhat settled in and for the next 16 minutes things were pretty even. Kindersley though had no scoring touch at all on the night. Every chance in the offensive zone resulted in a ill advised pass, a turnover down low, or a shot right into the goaltender Jones. With 17:21 gone, the Hawks would score another to make it 2-0. It was somewhat of a questionable goal in terms of it not crossing the line. In Nipawin the broadcast booth is in the corner which makes it hard to see one end of the ice but gives you a good view on the near side. Holland shot the puck, it foiled McDonald a bit, started to squeak behind him and when he went to reach back it appeared to be right on the goal line. I honestly couldn't tell from my view if it had completely crossed the line or not, which makes it seem hard to believe that the referee Chad Willams could of had a better vantage point. He was lined up on the half wall and immediately called it a goal. Tough break for Kindersley but once again it was a late period marker given up by Kindersley which has been the story all season long.

To start the third period Kindersley came out firing and had a few really solid scoring chances that could of changed the complexion of the game. Taylor Duzan had a breakaway early but was denied by Jones on the five hole attempt. Troy Gedny had two point blank chances from the high slot but he also was stopped by Jones. If Kindersley scores on one of those high quality chances we may of had a different game. The fact though was they didn't and the Hawks would come back the other way and score 2 quick ones to make it 4-0 Hawks.

It was a tough game for the Klippers to play. They have a depleted lineup with all the injures and suspensions. Kissick, King, Bosovich, Hoffman were all unable to go and Manhas and Lund were serving game 1 of a 2 game suspension. Kindersley had only 11 forwards dressed on the night, one of which who was Morgan Eaton who is a dman.

Their pk remains fantastic but as Rockie Zinger mentioned on the broadcast he would much rather have his team go 2/2 or 3/3 on the pk rather than having to kill off 8 minors. The reason Kindersley is taking so many penalties is because they are getting outworked which leads to minor stick penalties, which for the most part last night was the case.

In terms of tonight's contest we will see if Kindersley gets back any injured bodies. They will be without Lund and Manhas once again due to suspension.

Melfort has beaten Kindersley twice this season, both times back in Kindersley. The Mustangs only have 3 wins this season, the other coming against Yorkton. Rockie Zinger said on the broadcast last night that they have to win tonight. They have a tough test coming up on Friday back at home against Humboldt and they will need to gain some confidence to prepare for that game. La Ronge Takes Down Kindersley 3-1 In A Wild One At The Mel - Tonights Preview

Kindersley continues to struggle on the road, falling out in La Ronge 3-1 to open up a 3 game set.

After La ronge beat Kindersley on Wednesday there was a bit of a scrum following the game. That bad blood carried over into La Ronge, as all hell would break loose only 40 seconds into the contest. Jordon Hoffman was trying to line up Eisenbrenner in the corner deep in Kindersley territory. He ended up checking him into the boars from behind. It was certainly a penalty, but after watching the replay Hoffman lets up on him a bit and it could of been worse. After the hit, Hoffman was cross checked right in the face by McNevin and he was down in a heap, bleeding. After that 3 fights broke loose on the ice resulting in a number of players getting the boot. For Kindersley Manhas and Lund were in the middle of it and were both tossed. For La Ronge, McNevin and Hope hit the showers early. Now I know the refs were in tough with what happened so early in the game but they ended up giving Hoffman a 5 minute major for fighting and a game misconduct. Hoffman didn't throw a punch as he was down on the ice from the cross check. Out of all that Kindersely would get a 5 minute penalty, and loose 3 of their players. Kindersley was also upset because Enns was in the scuffle and never got ejected from the game. The Wolves could also make a case for Zane Morin on Kindersleys side as he was in the scrum to. Overall I thought it should of been evened up considering the cross check to Hoffmans face but the decision was made and Kindersley was forced to kill off a 5 minute penalty.

Kindersley killed off the entire 5 minutes thanks to some good defensive play and some very solid goaltending from Justin McDonald. McDonald was the Klippers best player on the night, making save after save. It was a great bounce back performance for the netminder and I am sure it will be a sign of things to come. He faced a ton of rubber, and really was the only reason the Wolves didn’t have a 1 or 2 goal lead after all their powerplay time in the 1st. Kindersley had to kill off 11 minutes of penalties in the first including a partial 5 on 3. They somehow were able to not allow a go, and after all the penalties were killed off, they got their legs going. They had a few good chances back on the other side but Rajotte stood tall. The Wolves would get one even strength late in the frame on a rebound put away by Tran to head to the room up by 1.

Kindersley battled back in the second and scored the equalizer early off the stick of Taylor Duzan. It was a great passing play by McGrath and Mysiorek that found Duzan wide open streaking to the net to tie the hockey game. It appeared as if the momentum was going to shift for Kindersley but that wasn’t the case as the Wolves took back the lead under a minute later on a goal by Either. That really was a big time dagger for Kindersley and took the life out of them. The rest of the way through La Ronge started to pour it on and Kindersley looked tired. They would add another before the period was over from Smerer. The third period was pretty lacklustre and Kindersley couldn’t generate enough offense for the comeback and would fall by a final of 3-1.

Going back to the scrum, Lund and Manhas are both getting a one game suspension and won’t play tonight. Both of those players have become key guys and will be tough loses for tonight. Jordon Hoffman gave us a scare but it sounds like he is ok. He won’t play tonight but the Klippers will take him day by day. It was a very tough test for Kindersley to start off the road swing out in La Ronge. The Ice Wolves have certainly found their game and are climbing up the Bauer Standings. Kindersley will look to regroup tonight back in Nipawin in which will be another very tough hockey game. Things got pretty wild back in K Town last weekend and I anticipate the Hawks being a much stiffer test on home ice. Klippers Kick Off 3 Game Road Set Out In La Ronge

The Klippers will face their biggest task of the season thus far by playing 3 games in 3 nights. First up is the La Ronge Ice Wolves to complete the home and home series. La Ronge took down Kindersley in their own barn and now the Klippers will look to do the same.

I really liked Kindersleys game Wednesday night at home. They will need to play a similar game but make things harder on Alex Rajotte in order to pick up the 2 points. I am assuming he will be starting again tonight based on his play Wednesday. Getting more bodies in front, and baring down will be key tonight for the Klippers. Home ice could be a big factor tonight for La Ronge, playing at the Mel will be a unique experience for the Klippers rookies. I really felt this past homestand showcased alot of positives for this hockey team, so we will see if those positives can translate into a few wins on the road. La Ronge is tough to beat on home ice with a 5-2 record where as Kindersley has really struggled away from home with a 1-4-1-0 record.

McGrath returns from injury tonight. Kissick and Bosovich remain out with injury, and Wheaton King has the flu and wont be able to go.

In terms of tonight's broadcast, game 7 of the World Series will take precedence. I will be doing live cut ins until the conclusion of the ball game. If it ends before the hockey game then we will jump over live. The good news is both Saturday and Sundays games will be broadcasted.

Klippers Wrap Up Homestand With 2-1 Loss

Kindersley played a very solid game in my mind but in the end they had no answer for Alex Rajotte. He was superb on the night for the Wolves. La Ronge got things going early in the 1st frame on a bad defensive zone breakdown that resulted in a back door finish by Jared Iron. After that it became a goaltenders clinic with both Alex Rajotte and Fraser Abdallah coming up huge for their hockey clubs. Neither team scored in the second period and both tenders were tested with a break away opportunity. The biggest save on the night though went to Rajotte off of Travis Geislinger. He was left unprotected in front as he tried to rip one top corner, but Rajotte quickly snatched it out of the air with a ridiculous glove save.

The next marker didn't come until the third period at the 6:15 mark when Enns made a nice move and an even better pass to spot Hladun wide open in front and he did the rest to make it 2-0 Wolves. Kindersley had a ton of chances but had no answer for Rajotte until Jesse Mysiorek said enough is enough and blasted one past Rajotte to cut the deficit to 1. Mysiorek hammered that puck and made sure Rajotte had no chance at stopping it. In the post game interview below Rockie Zinger really eluded to his team needing to bare down and used Mysiorek as an example with his goal. Rockie was bang on their, Kindersley had some chances, Rajotte played great but they also made things easy for him.

The Klippers powerplay really struggled last night going 0/5 and could of been the difference if they were able to capitalize. Not haveing Bosovich working the powerplay has forced Kindersely to have to switch things up as they look for a consistent balance on the man advantage.

Taylor Duzan continues to look great after returning from injury. He had a number of really good scoring chances that he more than often would have scored but Rajotte had his number on the night. Jesse Mysiorek continues to impress, his goal showcased exactly what kind of player he is and his confidence in his abilities right now are sky high.

In terms of the road trip, Kindersley will look back and likely regret not winning 3 or all 4 of the games. They certainly could of took down Melfort and last night I thought they were the better team once again. Despite only splitting the homstand I think overall it was the best span of games the Klippers have put together so far this season. They are starting to come together and should only improve once they get Kissick, McGrath and Bosovich back in the lineup.

It was a bit of a heated affair and got chippy late in the third period. It should be a high intensity rematch on Friday night back in La Ronge.

Kindersley Looking To Make It 3 In A Row To Wrap Up Home Stand

Up to this point it has been a very positive 4 game home stand for the Kindersley Klippers. It started out with a tough loss to Melfort, but more recently seen Kindersley take back to back games for the 1st time this year. If the Klippers lose tonight then it makes the home stand look sub par but if they win it will be a big success. With 3 tough road games this weekend it will be important for Kindersley to end the home stand with a positive.

In terms of La Ronge the last time they were here in Kindersley they got blown out by a score of 7-1. Since then they have been a much improved club and are currently 2 games below .500. They had a chance to get to the .500 mark last night out in Battlefords but were dropped 1-0. I expect the Wolves to be extra hungry for a split on the road trip to set themselves up nicely for the rematch back at their home barn this Friday.

Kindersley will be once again without the services of D Jay McGrath, Tanner Kissick and Brennen Bosovich. McGrath and Kissick sound like they are making good progress and could be ready for some point this weekend on the road trip. Bosovich is still a few weeks away from returning.

A few Klippers are riding high right now which is a good sign for the club. David Haaf and Jesse Mysiorek are the first two that come to mind and I would expect them to continue their recent dominance moving forward. In terms of Mysiorek I have no idea how he wasnt even an honorable mention for player of the week, but props to David Haaf for taking home the SJHL defender of the week.

The lineup up front tonight I would assume would be the same as the previous game for Kindersley. In terms of the D, not sure who will be in and out. In net its also up in the air as to who will get the start, one things forsure is I am sure we will see both goalies this weekend on the 3 game road trip.

For tonight's webcast I will not be calling the 1st period but the webcast will still be up and running. I will be doing a live on location at the rink from 4-8 PM tonight for the Klippers truck lotto and will jump into the broadcast booth for the 2nd period. I will have a chance to watch the first period action so I should have a idea of whats happened prior to jumping in. It got a bit crazy throughout the game, but Kindersley would double up the Hawks 6-3 to win back to back contests for the 1st time this season.

I apologize for not blogging on Sunday, but here we go with some random game notes.

- I mention the game getting a bit crazy off the hop, the Nipawin Hawks had 2 players ejected from the game aswell as their head coach Doug Johnson. I have alot of respect for Doug Johnson and have always seen him as a calm and nice guy and wasn't expecting him to get tossed out of the game. I understand he was upset with the way things were going but in terms of the penalty calls on his club, I thought for the most part they were fair.

The first player who was tossed was Tad Kozun who was ejected for charging on a hit he delivered on Taylor Duzan. No doubt about it being a charge, and Duzan appeared to be down and out. I believe their may have been contact to the head, but I would need to see a replay of the hit to judge further. I would believe a suspension on the hit will be coming but I wont comment further until I see a replay . More on Duzan in a second, but the 2nd player to get the boot was Scott Bollefer for a hit from behind. Paslawski also recieved a 10 minute misconduct and a gross misconduct late in the 2nd period.

- In terms of Taylor Duzan, his performance was simply put, unreal. Eveyone in the building thought Duzan was out for the game but he returned in the 2nd period and put on a show. 4 minutes into the second period he wired a beauty home off a set faceoff play. Hoffman won it back to lund who dropped it to Duzan and he did the rest using his quick release. Duzzy would also add another goal before the period was through. It was quite the treat to watch what Duzan did on Saturday night.

- The other player who played a huge roll on the night was Jesse Mysiorek. He capped off the evening with an empty net goal for a hatty. Nipawin was battling back and drew within one until Wheaton King feathered a perfect pass in front to Mysiorek who was crashing the crease, and he went up top to restore the 2 goal Klipper lead. Mysiorek is a huge reason why Kindersley has turned their game around of late having scored 6 goals in the past 5 games.

- With all the penalties Nipawin was getting you would of probably liked Kindersley to have done a better job on the power play going 1-9 but it really doesn't matter because they got the 2 points.

- As a team Kindersley once again played a sound game overall. They had a bit of a lapse in the first ten minutes of the 3rd period but overall they were the better hockey team and certainly the more disciplined of the 2 teams. Hard to judge Nipawins performance. They have alot of talent but in terms of being the best team in the Bauer conference, I didn't see that on Saturday night. Hard to judge a team though that was without a number of their key guys, and losing Kozun in the first certainly affected their offense. Saying that though Kindersley was without, McGrath, Kissick and Bosovich and found a way to win. It will be a much tougher task for Kindersley in Nipawins barn this upcoming weekend.

- Kindersley is certainly coming around and we will see if the positive results shown on the weekend in front of their parents will translate to the upcoming road trip.

- In terms of the Klipper injures, I don't expect to see McGrath in the lineup this weekend but we will see. It appears that he is about a week away from returning. Bosovich and Kissick still remain a few weeks away from returning.

With all the players parents in attendance, the Klippers squad came together and played for the most part a complete sixty minute game that lead to a 6-2 victory over the Hounds.

Maybe the parents need to come to every game? We will see how the players fair tonight with the rents once again in attendance. One things forsure is we seen a strong looking Klipper squad last night that may be a sign of things to come. Kindersley has been putting together decent games up until last night, but for the most part had failed to generate positive results. I know their has been alot of negative comments on the blog of late, but all along I've been saying give it a bit more time because the talent is certainly here. For the fans that were at last nights game you cant tell me you don't feel a good looking squad is under those blue and green jerseys. All the parents and fans in attendance seen a good looking squad that Rockie Zinger has assembled, now it's up to the team to move forward and get a consistent effort game in and game out.

Before we get to a few game notes, it was great to get to chat with a few of the parents this morning at the pancake breakfast and I am sure I will get to meet a few more of you tonight at the game. If you are looking to hear a few good stories and a couple of laughs be sure to introduce yourself to Ken Wasden, the father of Taylor, he will defiantly keep you entertained.

Lets talk about how the 2 points happened last night for Kindersley. I am going to do this a bit different today with random notes.

- Fraser Abdallah got the start last night and he really sparked the Klippers with some big saves in the opening frame. Kindersley was on the penalty kill for 8 of the 20 minutes in the first frame and were out shot but Abdallah stood his ground, and the Klippers capitalized on their chances to take a 2-0 lead after 20.

- You have to give alot of props to the young line last night for Kindersley. Austin McDonald got things started for Kindersley. This guy is certainly making the most of his opportunities and has 5 goals on the season in only 8 games played. Colby Daniels who was also on the young line had a break through game offensively. He has been snake bitten to start the season but last night he was sprung out of the penalty box and he made a beautiful move on a breakaway to score his first SJHL goal. I really think getting that goal will be big for the youngsters confidence moving forward.

- Kindersley had a bit of a scare in the first period when D Jay McGrath was rammed into the boards in his own end. It was partially from behind and McGrath was very slow to get up. He came out for one shift after the hit but didn't play the rest of the game after that. No word yet on how long McGrath may be out, but he will miss tonights game.

- David Haaf was a beast last night for Kindersley. Its been somewhat of a slow start to his sophomore season. He had high expectations placed upon him with his strong play as a rookie last year, and I think last night we seen Haaf take a huge step forward. He was all over the ice, picking up 4 points from the back end and scoring twice for his 1st ever multi goal game.

- Taylor Duzan made his return to the lineup last night and boy was it good to see him back on the ice. Duzans presence on the penalty kill was certainly felt, and for missing 7 games it didn't look like he missed a beat. He is a spark plug, and when he goes out for a shift he sets the tone for the rest of the team, and we seen that last night.

- Taylor Wasdens knuckles have gotta be sore this morning. In the second period he went at it with Logan Saworski and took it to him. It was one of the more lopsided fights I have ever seen in the SJHL. Me and Chris Forsman watched the tape in the room after the game and we counted 16 punches thrown by Wasden.

- In terms of the Hounds, I honestly expected more. I don't no if it was a bad game on their part, but they didn't look very sharp last night.

- Tonight Kindersely hosts the Nipawin Hawks who are currently the #1 ranked team in the SJHL. Coming off a loss out in Battlefords last night, I expect them to be hungry for a split on the road set.

- I have interviews with David Haaf, Fraser Abdallah, Colby Daniels and Rockie Zinger to get up here shortly so check back.

Klippers Welcome The Hounds On Parents Weekend

The Kindersley Klippers will look to put Wednesdays disappointing loss behind them when they entertain the Notre Dames Hounds from the West Central Events Center. Tonight marks game 2 of a 4 game homstand for the Klippers who will also welcome in all the players parents for parents weekend at the WCEC. Kindersley is in a big need of a win but it wont come easy. The Hounds are a much improved team from a season ago. Alot of their young talent on last seasons roster is back, and they are off to a pretty good start to the campaign riding high after a big 5-1 victory over Yorkton on Wednesday night.

Kindersley will be once again without Brennen Bosovich, and also Tanner Kissick who are both out with injuries. Kindersley however, will get a big boost tonight with the return of Taylor Duzan. During Wednesdays web cast Duzan said he was getting close to 100% and would start practicing fully with the team. He did that yesterday and will likely be in tonights lineup.

Kindersley will also be without Craig Dworschak as he has been dealt to the St.Albert Steel in the AJHL. In return the Klippers receive Travis Geislinger. He is a 17 year old fwd out of Fort Sask, Alberta and has one point in 7 games so for this season in the AJHL. He will not play tonight but may suit up tomorrow.

Melfort Knocks Off Kindersley At The WCEC

Kindersley came out firing from all cylinders and after twenty minutes of play I felt their was no chance of Kindersley losing last nights hockey game, but in the end they did.

The Klippers fired 18 shots Jesse Wilkins way and only had one goal to show for it through twenty. Wilkins was stellar last night for Melfort, especially in the first frame. Kindersley beat him early on a quick shot by Austin McDonald, and had a goal post shortly after on a Wheaton King riffle, but after that he shut the door and gave his team a chance moving forward. Less than a minute after Mac gave the Klippers a 1-0 lead, Melfort responded on somewhat of a questionable goal. A scrum in front of the Klippers crease broke lose, and Tanner Kissick was down in a heap. The whistle wasn't blown despite Tanner being unable to get back in the play, and the puck found the stick of Ruzesky and next thing you know it was mesh for the Stangs. That was all she wrote scoring wise through 20, but the big cause for concern for Kindersley was the status of Tanner Kissick. Kissick was taken to hospital, and the word at this time is he tore some ligaments in his right ankle and is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks. With Bosovich out for upwards of a month, the loss of Kissick will make things much more difficult for Kindersley moving forward.

The second period got underway and once again it was the same story for Kindersley. For whatever reason the Klips continue to put themselves in a hole in the 2nd frame. It was not the same effort we seen in the opening period, and Melfort would make them pay with a minute and one second remaining on a beauty by Godric Tham.

Kindersley started the third behind by one. Off they hop they had a ton of jump, which seemed to be sparked by Justin Lund who threw a big check right off the face off. He then had a two on one chance the other way but missed the net. Shortly after Jesse Mysiorek would bang one in to tie the game at 2 with his 5th goal of the campaign and third in the past 3 contests. Things were looking up until the Klippers took a bench minor, putting their leagues best PK to the test. Kindersley was a perfect 8 for 8 over the weekend killing penalties, and were 3 for 3 up to the bench minor penalty. You knew that streak was going to eventually end and it did as Belchamber scored his first of the season to put the Mustangs up by one. Kindersley had their chances moving forward, but solid goaltending the rest of the way through by Wilkins sealed the deal for the Mustangs. He made 44 saves on 46 shots faced and was without a doubt the games 1st star.

Kindersley looked very good at points last night in the hockey game and probably deserved the victory but simply put they didnt find a way to win. Losing Kissick is a double blow for Kindersley. If you missed my tweet prior to the game last night, it was discovered that Brennen Bosovich would be out of the lineup aswell for upwards of a month. Bosovich is the powerplay catalyst for Kindersley and last night not having him out their on the man advantage certainly effected their 5 on 4 attack as they went 0/4 on the PP.

A few positives for Kindersley last night include the play of Bradley Buckingham. He had a very solid game for Kindersley and seemed to be frankly pissed off all night long after he was hit to the head with a check on his opening shift of the game. Austin McDonald had a good night for the Klippers creating a number of chances and finding mesh. Defensively I thought David Haaf had a really solid game for the Klippers. He was throwing his body around, getting it done with the stick and he jumped up in the rush a few times leading to a few scoring chacnes.

Next up for Kindersley is a big division battle tomorrow against the Notre Dame Hounds. It will be Kindersleys 1st look at the revamped Hounds, who currently sit in 2nd place in the Sherwood after a win over Yorkton last night. The Klippers are 5 points back of Yorkton right now for 5th place and have 3 games in hand. Safe to say Kindersley needs to use these games in hand to their advantage to try and climb out of the basement.

I forgot my recorder at the radio station last night, but I will be catching up with Rockie over the phone this morning for an interview. I will get that up shortly.

The Kindersley Klippers return home tonight after having played their last 6 contests away from the West Central Events Center. It's the battle of the bottom dwellers tonight as Kindersley opens up a 4 game homestand against the Mefort Mustangs. Kindersley currently sits last in the Sherwood division, with Melfort sitting last on the Bauer side. Last time Melfort was in town back on September 20th, they skated away with a 2-1 victory with Brendan Tash scoring the game winning goal.

The Melfort Mustangs are currently reeling, sitting with a 2-10-0-1 record. At this past weekends SJHL showcase they lost both of their contests against the North Stars and have also lost 5 straight games. The problem for the Mustangs is they cant score any goals. They have a league worst 20 goals scored on the season and have only scored once in their past 3 contests. Having said that they are a young and exciting team that can not be taken lightly, just like we seen back on September 20th when they knocked off the Klippers.

In terms of Kindersley it's safe to say the key to the game will be to play a sound defensive game. This could be a confidence booster for the young Kindersley defense if they come to play for sixty minutes tonight. This could also be a confidence booster for Justin McDonald who I would assume gets the start for the Klippers tonight. He has been up and down so far this season and he will be the first one to tell you his game needs to be better. If he can get a win tonight, I would think that bolds well for him moving forward. In terms of the line combos and who's in and out, I have no idea at this time but when I do I will post them.

Good news moving forward as the rest of the Klippers games this season will be broadcasted in some way or another. All the home games will be web casted, and the rest of the road games will be on the radio as baseball wont interfere any more with the Klipper broadcasts. A nice long home stand will see the World Series wrap up and moving forward you can catch all the action on 1330/1210 Classic Hits Radio. Tonight though the game will be web casted with play-by-play starting at 730 and your pregame show kicking off around 710 with a pre game interview. Klippers Doubled Up By Melville - Showcase Recap

After a 3-2 vicotry over Flin Flon I thought we would see a much better team effort on Sunday but that wasn't the case. It was another frustrating game after a win by the Kindersley Klippers who have yet to win back to back contests this season. They came out with alot of jump, and would get the games first marker but near the end of the frame they lost that jump and started to get outworked. Kindersley was reeling and appeared to be just waiting for the period to end hoping to get to the break up by 1. With 30 seconds left in the period Melville scored to tie things up and that really took the life out of Kindersley. They came out flat in the second frame like we have seen time after time so far this season. For whatever reason the second period has not been kind to the Klippers. Kindersley would get into penalty trouble and although they went 6 for 6 on the penalty kill it really limited their offensive opportunities. Melville would score 3 in the frame and head to the break up by 2. In the third period it was basically to little to late but Kindersley started to skate again. They had a 5 on 3 powerplay and Mysiorek would put Kindersley within 2. They had a few more solid opportunities on that same powerplay but couldn't beat Wakaluk. It was a good third period but the lackluster second period proved to be costly.

Overall though I would say it was a positive weekend for the Klippers. After losing 5 previous contests snapping the skid was a big feat. The team now has that feeling of winning in the back of their heads and after a loss Sunday should be hungry for that feeling once again come Wednesday back at home.

In terms of the actual showcase, Estevan did an outstanding job hosting the event. Spectra place is a thing of beauty and the Estevan organization put on a flawless weekend. The Estevan organization went above and beyond to runs things as smoothly as they did and all the volunteers should be proud of themselves. I know everyone in the Klippers organization was very thankful of everything the Estevan organization did to accommodate them throughout the weekend. In terms of the facility, it is the best I have seen in Junior A hockey, I will get a few pics up shortly.

Obviously the showcase is a chance for scouts to take a look at certain players. For the Klippers they have alot of young talent and a few vets that were likely on many scouts radar. I felt that on Saturday night Tanner Kissick had a great game and likely came just as advertised. He threw a couple of big hits, took a licking with that scary moment in the second period when he hit the stanchion, came back and scored the tieing goal. If I am a scout what Kissick showed would be exactly what I am looking at for my team. I thought Jordon Hoffman and Jesse Mysiorek both played big roles for Kindersley. One thing you get from Hoffman and Mysiorek is they are always working hard and you would hope the scouts would notice the little things over the flashy things. Hoffman was a key contributor on the penalty kill for Kindersley that went a perfect 8 for 8 over the weekend and he also set up the game winning goal on Saturday night. Jesse Mysiorek had two goals over the weekend including the big game winner on Saturday night when he was parked out in front of the net going to the gritty areas like he always does. He also scored on Sunday to give the Klippers a bit of life in the third period.

I was very impressed with Davies and Bosovich on Saturday night. They have outstanding skill levels that compliment each other nicely. If skill is what some of the scouts were looking at then I am sure they are now on a few scouts radars if they weren't already.

Overall I don't think Sundays performance by the Klippers team did any favors for any Klippers individually and a few players may be disappointed with their play throughout the weekend but it's defiantly not anything to hang their heads over. I am certain that a few players are on the scouts radar and with the SJHL season only being 11 games deep those scouts will continue to evaluate moving forward.

The winless skid has ended as the Klippers skated to a 3-2 victory over the Flin Flon Bombers last night at the SJHL Showcase in Estevan. For all the scouts and fans in attendance they were treated with a very exciting hockey game. Going back to last season, whenever the Klippers and Bombers play each other they are exciting games. Last years showcase, Kindersley beat Flin Flon 2-1 in overtime which somewhat turned their season around and now with a come from behind win the Klippers are hoping this win can turn things around for the better. It really is a huge relief off their shoulders but lets talk a bit about how the win happened.

Kindersley went down 1-0 just 27 seconds into the hockey game. David Roper fired a shot from the blueline that I am sure Fraser Abdallah would have liked back. It was a soft goal, but after that Abdallah really turned his game on only allowing one more the entire way through on route to his 1st SJHL victory. Flin Flon really had control of the game early in the first period but Kindersley started to generate some good chances in the second half of the frame which would eventually lead to the tieing marker. Kyle Davies continued to impress as he weaved down the left wing fooling the netminder as he threw one out front to Bosovich who had the yawning cage to fire at to knot things at 1 a piece.

The second period saw the Bombers take a 2-1 lead on the stick of Dillan McCombie who showed his elusiveness down low to fight off a Klippers defender, walk out in front and fire it over the glove of Abdallah. Near the end of the frame the Bombers hit two goal posts that could of put the game out of reach but luckily for the Klippers they got a bit of help. Their was also a scary moment for Kindersley in the 2nd period as Tanner Kissick ended up hitting his head into the stanchion padding at the end of the Klippers bench inside the blueline. Everyone and I mean everyone in the building thought Kissick was out cold on the ice. It looked scary but then suddenly Kissick got back up and didn't even miss a shift. Not losing Kissick was huge for the Klippers as in the 3rd period early on he would score the equalizer to tie the hockey game at 2. Tanner showed a ton of toughness to come back out their and do what he did after everyone thought he would be hitting the showers early.

In the third period both teams trading chances up until the 18:33 mark when the Klippers would get a powerplay. Zane Morin would force McNulty into taking an extra roughing minor to send Kindersley to the man advantage. Right off the faceoff only 17 seconds into the powerplay McGrath worked it down low to Hoffman who walked out from the corner spotting Jesse Mysiorek out in front. Hoffman with a great feed put it right on the tape and Mysiorek did the rest. The marker would go on to be the game winner and also what the Klippers are hoping for a sign of good things to come moving forward. They got the monkey off their backs and now its up to them to find some consistency. They are right back at it this evening against Melville to wrap up the showcase. Melville is a very solid hockey team and this one should be a great division battle. Melville lost their showcase opener yesterday to Humboldt and will be hungry to come out of the event with a win. Kindersley has not won back to back game yet this year so this would be a big boost for them moving forward if they can.

I have a number of interviews to get up here this morning. Takes a bit of time so bare with me, but they will be up in the next hour or so. As for tonight's broadcast this is very frustrating but it will not be broadcasted on the radio. For whatever reason the Klippers and the radio station came to an agreement prior to the season to only broadcast 28 road games not including the showcase. I was under the impression this game would be a go today but unfortunately I woke up this morning and found out its not on the contract and wont be broadcasted. We are heading to the rink early today to take in a few of the other showcase games which should be alot of fun. I will tweet some updates from the other games.

Klippers Off To The SJHL Showcase This Weekend

The Klippers will not be departing until tomorrow morning to the showcase. Tonight is the 6th annual men's night out and hockey draft. I will be entering a team with a few of my radio colleagues and cant wait, absolutely love hockey drafts.

The Kindersley Klippers will look to end their 5 game winless skid this weekend when they take in the SJHL showcase at the brand new Spectra Place in Estevan, Saskatchewan. I am very excited to be taking in the SJHL showcase again this year. Last years event was phenomenal out in Weyburn with some very exciting high intensity hockey being played. This years showcase is extra special being held at Estevan's new rink. I've heard nothing but amazing things about the building and can't wait to check it out.

The Klippers are in an interesting spot this year. They have alot of young kids looking to impress the scouts, and also 4 20 year olds looking for scholarships come seasons end. It will be interesting to see if Taylor Duzan is able to play this week. I know the Klippers do not want to rush him back into the lineup but I bet Duzan would like to showcase his skills in front of all the scouts. I know Duzan is likely still about a week or so away but we will see what happens.

I asked Rockie Zinger about the showcase and how his club is planning on approaching it. His quote is transcribed below.

Rockie: The main thing we are stressing here is that we know the SJHL is a development league, and we get that but its also a league with alot of precedence put on winning. We need to ice a lineup that hates losing, and hates it so bad that it turns into some Wins here. We have two games against two teams that we know we can beat. We haven't beat them yet but we know we can and if you don't believe that going into the games then we will be in trouble. This is two important games for us, ya its the showcase but its important as far as where we are gonna go moving forward. Guys cant get caught up in the fact that this is the showcase, and they need to come in and focus first on giving 60 minutes.

The Klippers are in a big need of a victory this weekend. Two would be huge but one will defiantly be a positive against two very tough opponents. Flin Flon and Melville are both red hot right now and have both already beaten Kindersley this season. I will get more in depth on the opponents in a pre game report prior to each game.

This weekends broadcast is somewhat up in the air at the moment. Friday's game is considered a home contest and will not be broadcasted. I hope to get involved somehow in the action by maybe jumping on with Rob Hart for color if he is broadcasting the game or maybe see If I can get set up for a webcast.

Sundays game should be a go providing their is no game 7 between Texas and Detroit in the MLB playoffs. I really hope I can get invovled in the action this weekend, like I mentioned the SJHL showcase is awesome hockey. More to come upon arrival.

Klippers Battle Back But Fall Short In OT

It was a solid bounce back performance overall by the Kindersley Klippers after falling 7-1 in their previous contest, but also a performance that likely left the Klippers wanting more. They battled back in the third frame scoring two goals, one by Ryan Elliot and the other by Justin Lund who scored his 1st career SJHL marker. For a 17 year old kid to score a big goal like that just shows how much hes progressing in an impressive fashion.

With the way the 3rd period went, you would think Kindersley would have the momentum in the extra frame. Both teams traded chances back and forth but at the 3:53 mark, the Klippers had a defensive zone breakdown and were unable to clear the zone. The puck somehow found its way on to the stick of Lucas Froese who was left wide open in front making no mistake to finish off the Klippers. A tough break for Kindersley who likely deserved a better fate for the way they played in the 3rd period. Although they likely wouldn't have been down 3-1 if they had played a full previous forty minutes of hockey. For the Klippers to win moving forward they will need to find a consistent sixty minute effort.

There once again were some positives for the Klippers, one being Justin Lund who continues to do the little things right. He is a guy that buys in to watch the coach is saying, works hard, and is starting to generate offense now having tallied 5 points in the early going of the season.

Another positive for Kindersley was their two new players who debuted. Kyle Davies up front was generating offense all night. I thought he was the best Klipper player on the ice overall. He is quick, works hard, and really can be shifty down low on the cycle which generated a number of high quality scoring chances for Kindersley. In terms of Kade Halabuza, I thought he played a sound defensive game for the most part last night. Rockie Zinger mentioned in the post game interview that he didn't notice Halabuza very much which was a good thing for a stay at home dman. It looks like both of these two recruits will fit right in moving forward.

Any time you have a chance to get 2 points and skate away with only one it can be seen as a disappointment, but like I mentioned the young team took strides last night which will hopefully carry over into the showcase this weekend. Kindersley was also once again without Taylor Duzan last night and Tanner Kissick who was serving his one game suspension for his two fights against Humboldt.

In terms of the new Melville rink, it certainly is a thing of beauty. Great facility expect for the broadcast booth. It's really small and only has room for the home teams camera crew. Hopefully they can set up a better long term solution to facilitate both teams.

Klippers Heading Out To Melville Tonight

The Kindersley Klippers will look to put their recent struggles behind them tonight when they head out to Melville to take on the Millionaires in their new building. The brand new Horizon Credit Union Center has only been host to two Millionaire games this season thus far, which has seen the home club go 1 and 1.

Some what of a strange start to the schedule for the Klippers as they have yet to take on any division opponents so far this season. That will change tonight with the Klippers sitting 4 points back of Melville in the Sherwood. Kindersley has dropped four straight contests and although its still early in the season you do not want to fall back to far in the Sherwood conference making tonight's game a very important one.

Kindersley had a nice long break, some of the players went home for Thanksgiving and they should be fresh and rejuvenated tonight. It appears that Taylor Wasden and Ryan Elliot will return to the lineup. As for Taylor Duzan it sounds like he is still day to day and likely wont play. Kindersley also acquired a new forward over the weekend by the name of Kyle Davies for future considerations. He is an 18 year old forward who was playing out in Grande Prarie for the Storm. The young Klippers squad was no match for the Royal Bank Cup hosting Humboldt Broncos last night. The first period however was a bright spot for Kindersley. They controlled most of the play, were skating hard, opening up the scoring and drawing a couple powerplays in the opening frame. It was tied up at one goal a piece after twenty, Wheaton King with his first for the Klippers and Andrew Herle responded with the equalizer. KIndersley generated 2 powerplays in the first period but had nothing to show for it. Humboldt really didn't allow Kindersley to get any sustained offensive zone pressure on the powerplay and the first period ended knotted at 1.

In the second period Humboldt came out like gangbusters. It really didn't look like the same team we seen in the 1st period, they looked like a force to be reckoned with. Their breakout was perfect, their defense was moving the puck up the half wall or on the reverse so quickly that it rarely allowed Kindersley to get any forchecking pressure. On the offensive attack they have 4 lines that can score and as a defensive unit you need to be aware of where those players are on the ice at all times. This wasn't the case for the Klipper defense as they were leaving Broncos wide open in front which resulted in a number of goals. The Broncos would score 4 in the period to lead 5-1 after forty. The line of Ciolfi, Johnson and Johnston was uncontainable as they combined for 10 points on the night. The line is so dangerous on the rush, and Kindersley had no answer for this trio. That wasn't the only line that was buzzing for the Broncos as they truly are 4 lines deep, with 6 very solid SJHL defenseman.

The third period seen Fraser Aballah take the pipes for Kindersley. In terms of McDonald he certainly wasn't to blame for all 5 of the Broncos goals, but I do think McDonald needed to be a bit sharper to keep the game closer. The Broncos scored a quick one in the third which put to rest any sort of Kindersley third period come back as they skated to a 7-2 victory. I know so far this season the Broncos have struggled to find chemistry but that didn't show last night. The Broncos are a very good hockey team and I have no doubts after seeing them play that they will be a legit threat to win the Royal Bank Cup this year.

A few notes from late in the third period, a couple fights broke out in the final minute of the hockey game, which could result in a suspension or 2. Coldy Daniels made a big hit along the half boards in his own end, which resulted in Hudema going after him. Daniels wasnt exactly ready for the fight off the start but he didnt back down and did a good job holding his own against the much bigger Hudema. Meanwhile in front of the Klippers net, Tanner Kissick got into with Joey Davies. This was a big tilt with both guys landing a few big bombs. Kissick landed a huge right to end the fight sending Davies to the ice. This was Kissicks second fight of the game which will result in a suspension. The fact that it was a second fight in the same stoppage might also lead to a lengthier suspension. We will have to wait for the official word but losing Kissick for a couple of games will be a tough loss for Kindersley.

Kindersley was shorthanded last night with only 11 forwards dressed, rotating 3 centers. They did dress 7 dmen as Letourneau returned from his injury. The upcoming break should serve as a positive for the Klippers moving forward. They aren't in action until Tuesday and this will allow their 3 injured players a chance to recover and likely return to the lineup following the Thanksgiving weekend. In terms of Thanksgiving I am actually heading home today and wont be back in Kindersley until Monday. Had a few extra holidays I needed to use before the year was up, so their will likely be limited activity on the blog over the next couple of days. I may or may not have a post or two over the next few days but we shall see what happens. Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving day long weekend!

Well today was interesting at work, our power was out at the station all morning resulting in myself not getting a whole lot accomplished. We are heading out on the bus soon so this will be a short pre game report.

Overview : Both teams have lost 3 straight contests. Bit of a surprise seeing Humboldt lose 3 in a row but those loses all came on the road. They are 3-0 on home ice makings tonight's task even tougher for the Kindersley Klippers. Everyone can look at the Humboldt roster and see that the firepower is their but with all the new bodies coming in they have yet to find their chemistry. That can also apply to the Kindersley Klippers who have alot of new faces on their hockey team. Kindersley is also battling the injury bug a bit right now and will once again be without Wasden, Duzan, and potentially Elliot who is a game time decision. For the Klippers to win tonight they will certainly need a solid bounce back effort from goaltender Justin McDonald. McDonald struggled a bit for the first time this season Friday night in Flin Flon. Humboldt can score in bunches and have firepower on all 4 lines so it will certainly take a solid team defensive game in my mind to win for Kindersley.

Random Notes From Saturdays Game

- First off Fraser Abdallah played very good for the Klippers in his debut. He stopped 41 shots some of which were highway robbery. He was good with the glove and very quick from side to side. Kindersley still remains with 3 goaltenders on the roster, the performance by Abdallah certainly makes things interesting moving forward.

- Kindersley worked really hard over the weekend which makes it more disappointing that they came away with no points. They had a very good opportunity to tie the game up late on Saturday night. They were buzzing in the final few minutes, ended up drawing a penalty with a minute forty remaining and had a 6 on 4 chance to knot the game. McGrath feathered a pass back door to Bosovich who had a yawning cage to shoot at but the puck took an unfriendly bounce and skipped over top his stick. The Bombers would then add insurance shortly after with an empty netter.

- Kindersley was short handed on Saturday night as they only had 11 forwards. Rebkowich was injured Friday night and was unable to go Saturday forcing the Klippers to rotate 3 centers. Flin Flon was working extremely hard and I am sure that took a bit of a tole on the Klippers up front.

- A side note on Rebkowich, it sounds like he has left the Klippers. His shoulder injury was more serious than he thought it was going to be and would likely sideline him for a significant portion of the season. Due to that he has elected to head home. Hope to get more on this shortly.

- On the injury front, it looks like Wasden will not be available until after Thanksgiving and will miss the game in Humboldt. As for Duzan, Elliot and Letourneau they are day to day and may be back on Wednesday.

- Kindersley has now lost 3 games in a row but in my mind its not a cause for concern. I really feel the team is close to coming together. It has taken a bit of time to find consistency but as a young team I fell they are close.

- Although the club didn't come back from Flin Flon with any points, I feel this road trip will serve as a great benefit for the club. With alot of new players on the roster getting out on the teams 1st lengthy road trip should help with team chemistry.

- In terms of the Bombers I was very impressed with their squad. Both games were very exciting contests and the Bombers seemed to feed off the home crowd. They work hard, have a good balance of size and skill up front and appear to have 2 quality goaltenders. Mike Reagan has done a good job assembling his squad which is also a very young hockey team.

- Next up for Kindersley is this Wednesday in Humboldt. It will be a very stiff test for Kindersley but if they can beat the Broncos that would be a huge confidence booster for the club heading into the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The Klippers may have fell short but I thought they showed a ton of fight tonight. They got down early 2-0 and could of packed it in and said oh well we will get them tomorrow night. That was not the case as they stormed back and generated a lead of their own. The Klippers appeared to be in control of the game after Austin McDonald ripped home his 1st SJHL marker but unfortunately for the club an unlikely breakout bounce resulted in the Bombers tieing the hockey game. David Haaf tried a reverse that ended up sailing up the half boards. Their was no winger on that side which resulted in the puck going right to Cameron Blair who sniped a quick shot home that somewhat fooled Justin McDonald. Shortly after a fight between Gedney and Litke broke out. It was an even fight but it appeared that it may have shifted the momentum in Flin Flons favor as they would score the contests next two goals. Kindersley though once again was able to claw their way back when Troy Gedny riffled home his first as a Klipper with a perfectly placed wrist shot. Gedny also scored the Klippers 5th goal to make things interesting late. Kindersley pulled the goaltender but couldn't capitalize on a couple good chances in front that resulted in Jay Young scoring an empty netter. It was a back and forth sea saw affair that in my mind could of went either way.

Despite the lose for Kindersley their is a ton of positives the club can take into tomorrow nights game. Their powerplay looked solid scoring twice on only 3 man advantages. Their penalty kill was also very good killing off 4 of 5 attempts. I think if Kindersley had another powerplay or two they might have won the contest.

Another positive was they competed hard without a few of their top vets. Not having Taylor Wasden, Taylor Duzan and Ryan Elliot up front made things alot tougher but the forwards played well. Brennen Bosovich showed glimpses that he can be a dynamic player in the SJHL. His two assists were a thing of beauty.

Jesse Mysiorek had a huge game tonight for Kindersley. He was hitting hard, going to the tough areas which would also lead to him scoring the teams first goal, and overall had a very solid hockey game. It seems like Mysiorek flourishes in a high tempo physical game like the one that was on display tonight.

Kindersley certainly could have won tonight but they will have to play a better defensive game tomorrow night. They had no answer for the Young, Balaski and Storzuk line which combined for 10 points. Alot of people may look at the SJHL scoring race and say who is Jay Young? The secret is out, this guy is a beast and is going to continue to put up big numbers this season. Kindersley will need to limit Young and his line mates tomorrow night to win.

The atmosphere at the Whitney Forum tonight was awesome. Great to play,watch and call a hockey game. Tomorrow night should be even better after a close fought game that seen some bad blood. Kindersley will be hungry to get the 2 points or else it will be a long bus ride home.

Well here we are in Flon Flon! It's a long and interesting trip but their is no other rink in the SJHL quite like the Whitney Forum, and I know the players are very excited to be playing here tonight. Everything about the Whitney Forum gives you chills, for one it's cold, but secondly the electricity from the crowd makes it a very intense atmosphere to play hockey in.

The Klippers are a bit banged up for tonight's contest. Taylor Duzan, Taylor Wasden, Ryan Elliot, and Aaron Letourneau will not suit up tonight for the Klippers. Duzan has an upper body injury he substantiated during Tuesdays game. Wasden left last game after getting sliced up by his own teammates skate. His wrist/forearm received 15 stitches and he will be sidelined for 7-10 days. As for Elliot, Duzan and Letourneau they are all day-to-day and should be back in the lineup shortly.

The Klippers are trying to find a more consistent and more balanced attack for this weekends games which has lead to Rockie Zinger shuffling the lines. Here's how they look for tonight's contest

Only having played one game on home ice so far this season you can bet they will be trying to impress the home town faithful. They certainly have some offensive firepower lead by Jay Young who is off to an explosive start. He is a big guy with a very solid shot and has racked up 8 points in 5 games so far this year. Guys like McCombie, Blair, Penner and Storzuk are also off to solid starts in the early going of the season.

Should be a good game, unfortunately I wont be broadcasting the contest due to the MLB playoffs. I will be doing live cut ins throughout the game and we will go live if the baseball game wraps up prior to the hockey game. For more on this read the post below.

This Weekends Broadcasts

Due to the MLB playoffs running on 1330/1210 Classic Hits Radio, most of Friday's and Saturday's games against the Flin Flon Bombers will be missed. The station will be covering both the Yankees games on Friday and Saturday. How the Klippers games will work is I will be doing live cut ins every commercial break. If the baseball game wraps up before the Klipper game then we will jump over live for the remainder of the hockey game.

Broadcasting the baseball games is Golden West Radio policy all across the company and unfortunately takes precedence over the SJHL games. Trust me its not my decision and I am upset that I wont be able to broadcast the games. Here's to hoping the ball games wrap up quickly and we can jump over live to the Klipper game for the 3rd period.

Hope everyone understands, good thing the baseball playoffs go by pretty quick.

Young Klippers Team Struggling To Find Consistency

Was last nights game more so Battlefords dominating Kindersley, or just the Klippers not showing up?

I would say a bit of both, you have to give the Stars a ton of credit, they have really found their grove after Kindersley beat them on opening night and have now won four straight contests. Kindersley on the other hand might of had their worst performance of the season. Yes the Klippers team is young, yes you would expect a young team to have trouble finding consistency on the early going of the season but at the same time it's very frustrating. We have seen what this young team can do, they go out and dominate Battlefords on opening night, then play two duds. They regroup with a big win over La Ronge on Friday, and then come out last night and get outworked in front of their home town crowd. We have seen what these young players can do and soon it will become expected moving forward. For now it's still early in the season and the Klippers will put last night behind them and turn their focus to this weekends road trip.

In terms of last nights game the Klippers really got nothing going offensively. Their forecheck just wasn't their, the Stars were moving the puck out of their zone with ease creating high quality chances on the rush. Kindersley on the cycle last night was ugly at times, the Stars defense were simply just pushing Klipper forwards off the puck. Losing Wasden early on in the hockey game certainly effected this hockey team. Wasden by the way was cut with a skate and had to leave the game for stitches at the hospital. He told me after the game his arm was cut right to the bone and he was in a ton of pain. No word on if the cut will result in Wasden missing any further game action at this time.

After 20 minutes of action the Klippers were still in the game but a late first period marker by Blake Tatchell may have took the life out of the Klippers. They came out in the 2nd period and played one of the worst periods of hockey Ive seen in a long time. They only managed 2 shots on goal, and were outworked by the Stars badly who increased their lead to 3 goals heading into the third frame.

Kindersley had a better effort in the third period and generated some sustained pressure for part of the frame. Tanner Kissick drew the Klippers within 2 early on in the period giving the Klippers some life. Kindersley ended up drawing a couple of penalties a few minutes later and had a 5on3 powerplay for 20 seconds with just over 3 minutes remaining in the hockey game. Unfortunately for the club, the man advantage failed to generate anything, which certainly capped off a dissapointing team performance. Kindersleys offense just wasn't clicking last night and that was really the number one reason why they lost that hockey game.

Overall the Klippers have struggled on home ice this season and are now 1-3. Some would say they may be in trouble now with 2 tough games out in Flin Flon this weekend. I would counter by saying this may be a good thing. The players can forget about what has happened throughout the homestand and focus on the two games against the Bombers. This will give the guys a chance to bond, and hopefully allow them to generate a more consistent game. Both contests will be tough, especially playing at the Whitney Forum but I feel this may be just what the Klippers need at this point in the early going of the season.

Opening Look :

For the third time in this young SJHL season the Kindersley Klippers and the Battlefords North Stars will clash. Both teams come into tonight's contest riding a wave of confidence. After losing their home opener Battlefords has won 3 straight contests including a 3-0 shutout victory in their last game against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Kindersley will enter tonight's home game with some weight off their shoulders after picking up their 1st home W in 3 tries this past Friday night. Kindersley's offense was in full flight on Friday but they need to make sure they don't have a repeat performance like they did after a big win on opening night. It's somewhat hard to believe this is already the third meeting of the season for both clubs.

Who To Watch:

For Kindersley
1. Brennen Bosovich - He will suit up for the first time in a Klippers uniform this season. He brings a crafty skill set that should mesh well with the Klippers offense.

2. Taylor Duzan - He is coming off a big game on Friday night. Duzan had a hat trick, and is known for going on big scoring streaks when hes clicking.

3. Troy Gedney - Gedney had an impressive opening game for Kindersley. His strong play may have or have not have have been infalted due to the strong team game the Klippers played. We will see what Gedny brings tonight.

For Battlefords

1. Brody Luhning - Luhning was returned to the North Stars by the Regina Pats last week. He instantly makes their defense better and alot more dangerous offensively in the process. Luhning had 33 points in 50 games last season for the stars.

2. Blake Tatchell - I am not just saying this because I drafted him with my first overall pick in the SJHl media pool. Tatchell clearly is one of the favorites to win the SJHL scoring title, and he is coming off his first multi point game of the season Satuday against La Ronge.

3. Dillon Forbers - This is a guy I thought was a standout for the Stars in the home and home series against the Klippers to start the season. I am interested to see how he has come along with a few more games of SJHL experience.

Klippers Dominate On Home Ice Defeating La Ronge 7-1

I apologize for the lack of blogging over the weekend. My parents were in town from Edmonton, and I had to take part in a bunch of the Goose Festival events for the radio station.

Since the game Friday night is not really fresh on my mind this morning, I am just going to hit on a bunch of random points from the game.

- It was a complete team effort that resulted in the 7-1 win.

- The Klippers simply outworked the Ice Wolves, in the third period the Wolves had nothing left and the Klippers just kept on coming.

- Kindersleys forcheck was lethal. They Wolves really struggled breaking out of their end as Klipper forwards kept on coming with pressure. I don't know how many times I seen a Klipper forward knock a La Ronge defenseman off the puck behind their own net or in the corner. Kindersley has a ton of speed up front and they used that to their advantage by getting into the zone quickly.

- Defensively the Klippers were very sound. Troy Gedney made his Klipper debut and he played very well. He is good defensively but also appears to have some offensive upside. He had a few very nice rushes from the back end.

- Zane Morin had his best game in a Klipper uniform. It was a big night for Zane against his former club. He got his first in a Klipper uniform against his former club, and also had 2 assists. It was not hist 1st SJHL goal as he had 1 with La Ronge last season. Bob Beatty after watching that game likely regretted trading him.

- Morgan Eaton had his best game in the SJHL up to this point. He had a tough give away in the 1st period but responded with a sound physical defensive game. Eaton delivered one of the biggest hits I've seen in the SJHL right at center ice. I forget who it was that Eaton hit, but his helmet must of went flying 5 feet from the effects of the hit.

- Up front Taylor Duzan was the best player on the ice scoring his 1st 3 goals of the season. His quick release was on full display as he snipped all 3 goals past Rajotte. His line mates also had a big night as the trio combined for 8 points. They were dynamic on the cycle, and used their speed to create a ton of turnovers on the forcheck.

- I thought Taylor Wasden had a great game for Kindersley. He got his 1st goal of the season but it really could of been his 3rd or 4th up to this point. Wasden has been creating a ton of chances offensively but has been a bit snake bitten up until this weekend. Taylor really has an extra step to his game this season, he looks quicker which really allows him to use his strength down low. His speed also allows him to get into better positions to make those big checks. He made a few big ones on the night but didn't get the bump of the game as that went to Morgan Eaton.

- Justin Lund continues to impress me. He got in a fight, had an assist and was one goal away from the Gordie Howe hat trick. He just works hard at all times, isn't scared to get dirty down low and gets better every time I see him. Impressive game for the rookie.

The injury bug is starting to get to Kindersley a bit. Aaron Letourneauis is still about a week or two away from returning and now Ryan Eliott will be out for a about a week or two with a wrist injury. Hope to get an update on their status before tomorrow game.

In terms of the webcast I hope everything worked ok online. I know a loose cord went out in the first period resulting in a few lost minutes of video. If you purchased the webcast let me know how things went please. Tuesdays game against Battlefords will also be webcasted!

A Few Pre Game Hits

- First off I was very surprised when I first heard about the Casey Rogers trade. I was actually in the press box working on setting up the encoder and webcast while the Klippers were practicing. I seen Rogers leave the ice during practice and didn't really think to much of it. It wasn't until I seen him carrying his bag out of the arena that I new something was up.

- The trade to me was also a surprise because I thought Rogers was going to have a big season. I know he prepared hard in the offseason to get stronger and he certainly was showing that through the early going of the season. With Rogers you know what your going to get, he will have a few turnovers in the game but he will also create a number of high quality scoring chances. I want to wish Casey the best of luck because I know he loved everything about Kindersley and really wanted to play here this season. He was a good friend to many of the players and a good friend of mine aswell. A few of the players were upset about the deal but in hockey you cant let something like this rattle you, trades happen all the time. I had a quick chat with Casey Rogers last night and he wanted me to pass along that he thanks everyone in Kindersley for making his time an enjoyable one here.

Here is a message Rogers posted on his Facebook, " From the bottom of my heart i would like to thank the Klippers organization as well as the town of Kindersley for everything they have done for me. Without you all I would be nowhere near the position I am now! I did not want to leave but and moving forward with a positive attitude. But again Tisdales, Klippers organization, and the town of Kindersley... Thank you for all the memories I soon wont forget. "

- I don't really know alot about Troy Gedny but I know that Okotoks were the ones that made the call to Kindersley requesting Casey Rogers. A few of the Klippers have played with or against Gedny in the past and told me he is a stud and has potential to be one of the better defenseman in this league. I am not sure at the moment if he will suit up tonight for Kindersley.

- In terms of Bosovich I do believe he arrived in Kindersley this morning. No word yet on if he will suit up tonight for Kindersley. I will know more this afternoon.

- Chris Forsman and Kevin Edgerton will be behind the bench tonight for Kindersley as Rockie Zinger is the best man in a wedding tonight. I know Rockie was upset about having to miss the game, but when your named the best man in a wedding you have to be there.

- In terms of tonight's webcast, we have received the encorder. I am going to be running some tests this afternoon and hoping I have all the equipment needed to broadcast tonight. I likely wont know until after 5 if we will be good to go. If I get it up and running then you will be able to catch the cast, if I cant then I will be hoping on MBC radio with the voice of the Ice Wolves Daniel Fink for some color commentary.

- 5 of the Kindersley Klippers took part in last nights goose festival plucking event. We ended up having to pluck chickens instead due to the limited amount of geese we had. Jesse Mysiorek looked liked a season vet out there as he was crowned the 2011 chicken plucking champion. Taylor Wasden also won the potato peeling contest. Other players that participated were Taylor Duzan, Jordon Hoffman and D Jay McGrath. Klippers Deal Casey Rogers - Bosovich Returning

The deal was just completed about an hour ago. I don't have much time to report on it but the deal is Casey Rogers for Troy Gedny. Gedny is a 1993 born dman who was currently playing for the Okotoks Oilers in the AJHL. I was certainly surprised by the deal and wish Casey the best of luck. More to come later, but I can also confirm that Brennen Bosovich has indeed been sent down by Tri City and could be in Kindersley by tomorrow. For now I am off to pluck geese at the Kindersley goose fest. A few Klippers will be in the event also, I will let everyone know the results a bit later.

Klippers Drop 2nd Straight At Home

It was a much better effort from the Kindersley Klippers then we seen on Saturday night, but in the end the Klippers couldn't capitalize on their scoring chances.

Out the gate it was a slow start for both teams but near the end of the first period things started to open up and teams exchanged some high quality scoring opportunities to end the frame. Both goaltenders, Johnson for Kindersley and Wilkins for Melfort had shutouts through twenty as the period ended scoreless.

In the second period Kindersley would get on the board first when D Jay McGrath potted a rebound on a Letourneau point shot. Overall I thought D Jay McGrath was the best Klipper fwd on the night. He could of had 3 or 4 goals and likely should of had a penalty shot in the first period. D Jay has been skating really well and showing no ill effects from his knee surgery.

Melfort would shortly get the equalizer on the powerplay via a Carter Berg point blast that beat Johnson clean through a ton of traffic. No chance for Johnson on that one, it was a bomb from the big Melfort defenseman.

Shortly after that Melfort would take the lead on a rebound that Brendan Tash cashed on at the 9:09 mark of the second frame. That ended up being the game winner for the Mustangs.
The Klippers had alot of good scoring chances throughout the second half of the game but Wilkins shut the door for Melfort. I was somewhat surprised that the Klippers were getting the chances they were as they really were struggling making crisp passes. Pucks were bouncing everywhere, players were falling down trying to retrieve passes that weren't within stick length and overall it was sloppy execution for the Klippers offensively.

That sloppiness really carried over into the Klippers powerplay. It was not a pretty sight as Kindersley went 0/6 on the man advantage. If you want to win a hockey game you have to be better than 0/6 on the powerplay. I know pucks were bouncing but someone needs to bare down and make a big play for the team. Rockie Zinger was really shuffling his powerplay units and rightfully so as they couldn't really get anything going. The powerplay is a work in progress at the moment and I am sure it will start clicking shortly. They showed it on Friday night with crisp passing and quick shots that resulted in two powerplay markers.

Despite the outcome I still thought Kindersley was the better team on the night but they will need to start figuring it out shortly offensively.

In net Patrick Johnson made his season debut and he was very solid. He really didn't get caught out of position at all on the night and he did what a goalie needs to do, give his team a chance to win. Both McDonald and Johnson have been playing very well for Kindersley and it appears goaltending will be one of the clubs strengths this season. In terms of Abdallah he hasn't got a look yet in the pipes but it sounds like he will get his chance to impress on Tuesday night.

Justin Lund drew into his first game as a Klipper and I thought the young rookie played well. He was competing hard, going into the tough areas and trying to get under the skin of the opposition. He battled an injury throughout the preseason but he told me after the game everything felt fine. More on him in the post game interview below.

Zane Morin had a bit of a scare on the ice after he went after Norton for nudging his goaltender. Morin started throwing bombs at Norton in the corner. Norton was somewhat caught off guard and couldn't really get anything going against Morin. As they went down Morin ended up smacking his head on the ice and was cut up pretty bad. The good news was though Zane is ok and he did return to game shortly after he got a new clean white jersey with no blood on it. Morin is a great team player and will really do anything for his teammates on any night.

Overall it wasn't the best game by the Klippers but these two loses in my mind are nothing to get alarmed over. I do however think they need to take advantage of these next two contests at home before heading out on the road for two tough games at the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon. Next up for Kindersley is La Ronge on Friday night.

Post Game Vs Melfort by Ullsy

Its A Hockey Night In Kindersley! Klippers Hosting Melfort

The Klippers will look to bounce back this evening in front of the home town faithful. I do expect the Klippers to come out fired up. Rockie Zinger was very unhappy after Saturdays lose as he felt the team somewhat sat back and stopped competing midway through the hockey game. He also mentioned that the team might have read to much into the press clippings after the way they looked on the road the previous night. One things forsure, this evening Rockie Zinger will have his team ready to play and they wont be taking the Mustangs lightly.

The Mustang team is going to be an interesting team to watch this season. They have a new coach that is hungry for his first SJHL victory. They also have a very young team that will likely continue to grow as the season progresses. It hasn't been a pretty start for Melfort so far this year as they are 0-2 and only have scored one goal this season.

Tonight Kindersley will need to be much better on the powerplay. They were quick and effective on the road but really struggled at key times of the game on Saturday night. In terms of the Mustangs I don't have to much information on them, they have alot of new faces that I will get a better assessment for following tonight's contest. Puck drop is 7:30 at the WCEC. I will post lineups when I get them.

In terms of the webcast broadcast, unfortunately It doesn't look like it will be a go for tonight. Unless I receive the encoder sometime today in the mail than it wont be web casted. I have been in contact with the new webcast provider a number of times. They have informed me they have sent the encoder but don't know where it is in transit. I have talked to three different guys and haven't really got an answer as to where it is. All the other SJHL teams have received their encoders weeks ago so its very frustrating. Hopefully we get it in time for Fridays game. Once we do get it though fans will be able to watch and listen to the games via the webcast. I really want to start broadcasting the home games again asap so trust me I am on them to get this thing sent.
