Well another tough loss for the Kindersley Klippers. It was more of the same for the squad , as once again they outplayed the opposing team creating more quality chances. Now quality chances can only go so far and goals need to be scored. The Klippers have fired an average of 45 shots over the past 3 games and alot of those shots have been solid scoring chances. A few Klippers seem to be fighting the puck right now and can't seem to find the back of the net. There is so much skill up front that it surprises me that the Klippers have had trouble scoring the past few games. We have seen what this team can do when all lines are firing but that hasn't been the case over the past couple of games. I do not think it is something to be worried about as the forwards on this team are to good to not score.
Onto some game notes :
- Cody Lund made his Klippers debut. He was paired with Lance Tabin. He looked pretty calm and composed in the back end making nice outlet passes. He was very solid on the PK and really impressed head coach Larry Wintoneak and assistant coach Kevin Edgerton.
- D Jay McGrath scored his first goal as a Klipper on the power play on a nice set up from Taylor Duzan. The line of Duzzy , Mysiorek and McGrath are starting to build more and more chemisty. They looked good tonight for the most part.
- Sanfred King did not register a point on the night ending a 7 game point streak.
- I really like the makeup of the Klippers back end at this point, when their fwds get going again the team overall makeup will be very solid.
- Scotty Hellyer got the start after recovering from the flu. I thought Hellyer played good enough to get the win. I'm sure he will want a couple of those goals back but he made some big saves throughout the game to compensate.
- The Klippers PK once again struggled but so has everyone against the deadly Yorkton top PP. They move the puck very well and make smart plays on the PP. Its no surprise why they are the number one team on the PP in the SJHL.
- Jordon Hoffman cashed his third goal in as many games this season. Great to see him find his scoring touch. In training camp this is one of the guys I thought would break out and have a huge year with the club. Right now he is playing very solid hockey and should continue to produce.
One final note : It looks like the Klippers are set to make some releases today. I can't confirm this to be official as of yet but Larry Wintoneak said yesterday that they have come down to some decisions as to who should go. I asked him after the game if he will make these releases before the road trip and he said its very possible and to stay tuned.
I really have no idea which way Larry will go with this. So I will be very surprised either way as to who gets released.
