Klippers Win 7-2 , Game Notes and Interviews

Klippers win 7-2

What a way to break out of a 3 game slump. That is exactly what the Klippers needed to get the confidence back up. Overall it was in my mind the Klippers best overall 60 minute effort since the home opening win against Battlefords back in early October. The Klippers controlled the game right from the opening shift of that hockey game and didn't let up.

On the broadcast here were our 3 stars chosen by Lorne Hill, one of the Kindersley Klippers Scouts who did color commentary with me on the broadcast last night.

3 Stars

1. Jordon Hoffman - What a game for Jordon Hoffman. You can tell he has his confidence back after a slow start offensively. We all know he is one of the hardest workers on the ice , but he also has a ton of skill to go with it. In this one he had a goal , 3 apples , and a fight, you know what that means , yes a Gordie Howe hat trick. Also his parents were in attendance watching this one , and Jordon put on quite the show.

2. Braeden Adamyk - The first line of Calkins , Adamyk and Hoffman were rolling in this one combining for 10 points . They were deadly every time they stepped onto the ice. Ady had 2 goals and a helper , and was great all night long. He could of had the hat trick , he had a few more opportunities.

3. Patrick Johnson - Patrick Johnson got the start for the Klippers in the net after a solid relief effort the previous night in Melfort. What an impressive performance for the kid. He didn't have to be as good as he was because the Klippers were scoring at will , but he was great. The most impressive thing about the 17 year olds game is he always seems to be square to the puck. He covers all the angles so well and can slide cross crease lighting quick. The future for this kid is very bright. If he doesn't stick with a WHL club next year he will be back in Kindersley. I have a post game interview with Patrick below so check it out.

Honorable Mention - Johnny Calkins. He was equally as good as his line mates in this one and it could of been a clean sweep for the Klippers number one line , but Patrick Johnson was very good so we had to give it to the youngster.

Hustler Of The Game - Jesse Mysiroek . On the broadcast we dish out the Hustler and Hitter of the game awards and Lorne picked Jesse for the hustler of the game award. Jesse got the Hitter of the game Friday in Melfort and the Huslter in this one. His short handed goal he scored was all hustle as he bursted by a dman first to the puck and then blasted it in the net.

Hitter Of The Game - Jonathan Sonntag . He has racked in this award alot this season. A no doubter in this one as he crushed Glasspoole into the boards right in front of the Klippers bench with a huge hip check.

Other Game Notes

- The Klippers fired 54 pucks at Brody Hoffman. Once again the Klippers fired a ton of shots but this time they were scoring. The last four games they have fired over forty shots and 50 plus in 2 of them.

- The Klippers had very pretty puck movement all game long. Johnny Calkins goal was a thing of beauty as he was wide open in front after some tic tac passing from Hoffman and Duzan. It was a thing of beauty

- David Haaf got his first goal in the SJHL and his first as a Klipper on a blast from the point with all kinds of traffic in front

.
- There was 3 fights in this one for the Klippers and all from the smaller guys. Leedahl , Haaf and Hoffman all threw some fisticuffs in this one. Good to see as the Klippers havent had a fight in 4 or 5 games.

- One more note , Larry Wintoneak was tossed from the game late in the third period after Hoffman and Haaf both received instigator penalties. The rules state that a coach will be tossed if your team receives 2 instigators. Not a rule I agree with but what can you do.

I hope everyone enjoyed the broadcast. It was a tough one being all the way in the right side corner making it very hard to tell which players were all the way down the ice on the other end. Nonetheless the online feed is up and running for the whole season and playoffs. So spread the word to family and friends that they can catch all the away broadcasts from now on. I have posted the link on the blog on the right hand top side for easy access come game time.
