Klippers VS Yorkton Reaction

Sorry I did not get this up yesterday but Sunday was my relax day that I really needed to unwind, especially with the five day road trip coming up this week.

Anyways I am sure everyone is aware by now that the Klippers lost 4-2 to the Yorkton Terriers.

On the Klippers performance I thought that they played well enough to win that hockey game which is a positive seeing that Yorkton is the number one team in the SJHL. Yorkton is a very impressive bunch with a ton of skill. Newcomer Davis Vandane is a beast on defense for Yorkton. Ever since coming down from the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL , he has fit right in as a 18 year old rookie in the SJHL. He scored two identical goals against the Klippers on Saturday on clean clappers from just inside the blue line.

Davis scored on the first shot of the game and it somewhat deflated the Klippers off the start. Yorkton would shortly after take a 2-0 lead and appeared to have all the momentum. The Klippers did a good job getting back into the hockey game and at times really controlled the game. Trailing 3-1 in the second period the Klippers started to really turn things up a notch and Yorkton starting getting into penalty trouble. Andrew Dommett would score on the first Yorkton penalty in the 2nd on a great feed by Johnny Calkins. The Klippers then starting to create a ton of chances following the goal and would get two more power plays in the period. They were unable to capitalize on the Powerplay and that kind of ruined their momentum. The 2nd period was certainly controlled by the Klippers but they found themselves trailing 3-2 heading into the third. In the third it was a back and forth pace but Yorkton did a good job holding the lead after Davis Vandane scored his second goal on the night in the opening minute. After taking a two goal lead , Yorkton did a good job shutting down the Klippers offense in the third and would win by a final 4-2. Overall the Klippers played good enough to win but couldn't capitalize on their chances.

The main cause for concern with the Klippers at this point in time is their road record. They have now lost six in a row on the road and with the next 4 games on the road including games in Weyburn and Estevan, the Klippers need to play much better. Weyburn and Estevan are the two biggest games of the season thus far and if the Klippers cant figure it out on the road , they could be in trouble. There is some positives though heading into this road trip , the Klippers will likely have made all their roster decisions for the time being by December 1st , so some players may be able to relax. The other positive the Klippers can look back at what they did so effectively on their past home stand and try and emulate that. Also the fact that Andrew Dommett had two goals against Yorkton is a great sign heading forward. Scoring those goals Will likely give Dommer his confidence back and we all know what he can do when he is on top of this game.

Some moves might be going down today so I will try and get a hold of Larry Wintoneak this afternoon.

Also some good news is we have fixed the on line feed so both games for Tuesday and Wednesday are good to go and we will also be broadcasting the showcase games in Weyburn on Friday and Saturday. Some very important games ahead. I will have more on each game when I get game previews up.
