Your CalFrac Well Services Klippers Post Game Report

This post game report is brought to you by CalFrac Well Services.

Well it was certainly a different story last night then it was on Saturday. The Drumheller Dragons took it to Kindersley in basically every aspect last night skating to a 8-1 win. The score however was a bit deceiving as Kindersley had dressed alot of rookies where as Drumheller had dressed what for the most part will be their starting roster come seasons time. You can tell Drumheller was fired up with some revenge on their minds after they were beat physically Saturday night at the WCEC. They were much bigger than Kindersley and could certainly skate well for their size. Kindersley didn't let up though in the physical department as alot of player showed some fight and were sticking up for their teammates The Drumheller players were really trying to stir things up with the Klippers young rookies, primarily those who were wearing cages. I know head coach Rockie Zinger was not happy with that after the game.

I have to give props to both Taylor Wasden and Zane Morin who were sticking up for teammates. Both ended up getting in tilts and were both ejected from the game. Fighting in preseason results in an automatic game misconduct. The Klippers were really shorthanded for the third period which is where the Dragons took advantage scoring 4 third period goals. The Klippers were without Justin Lund who got tangled up with two Dragons awkwardly in the first period, he left the game and did not return. No update on his status at this time.

Ryan McConnell was also kicked out of the game for leaving the bench during a bit of a scrum at center, while Zane Morin was in his scrap. In terms of Ryan, I thought he had a good game, he was finishing his checks every chance he had, and forchecking hard. That is what the Klippers need from him, however he needs to be a bit more careful and not put himself in vulnerable situations that result in penalties.

Last night Chris Thoirmbert made his preseason debut after being sent down by the Lethbridge Hurricanes. It was a tough game to really evaluate Chris, but he certainly has a ton of skill. Hes a small guy but didn't look out of place against a big Drumheller squad.

Up front the Klippers didn't get to much going offensively, and their lone goal was scored early in the third period on a Taylor Duzan marker. Duzan showed some skill batting the puck out of mid air with a baseball swing to put the Klippers on the board. Other than that the Klippers didn't have a whole lot of offensive chances and really struggled on the powerplay. It's not a cause for concern at this point as its just preseason.

Overall it was a tough game for the Klippers but a good learning experience for the young rookies on the roster. I hope to get in contact with Rockie sometime this morning before we head out to Brooks to get an update on the roster situation. I know a few releases were made yesterday morning and I will get an updated depth chart up here shortly. We are getting close to numbers with about 28 players currently on the roster and a few still with their Western League clubs.

I am sure Kindersley will be fired up to show the Alberta leagues Brooks Bandits that they aren't a pushover this evening.
