Hoffman Returns To Kindersley In Red and White

      VS

Tonight's pre game blog is brought to you by:

It's game 2 of a 6 game homstand for the Kindersley Klippers as they welcome in the Weyburn Red Wings. The 2 clubs have only met once so far this season, that contest seen the Wings skate away with a 5-4 win back on November 19th in Weyburn. Kindersley and Weyburn will also square off again on Sunday at the WCEC.

The big story of tonight's contest will be former Klipper captain Jordon Hoffman returning to Kindersley for the 1st time since being traded. Hoffman is off to a great start with the Red Wings, in 2 games he has 5 points (1G 4A).

The Red Wings currently sit up top the Sherwood Standings with a 22-9-0-1 record. What is even more impressive is the fact that the Red Wings have won 9 of their past 10 contests and are currently on a 6 game winning streak. They are a big and fast squad that work extremely hard. Kindersley will need to match the Weyburn intensity by forchecking hard and finishing every check on every shift.

In terms of the Klippers I have confirmation that Taylor Wasden will not be able to suit up tonight. He remains on the shelf, day-to-day with an upper body injury. Tanner Kissick who also sat out Wednesdays game will be an afternoon decision whether he is able to go or not. If both are unable to play you can likely expect a call up to be made from Midget AAA.

Tonight's web cast will start up at 7:30. I wont be doing play-by-play for the opening frame but I will jump in for the 2nd and 3rd periods. I am doing a live on location remote from 4-8 down at the WCEC for the Klippers truck lotto on Classic Hits Radio 1330/1210. The video will still be going but with no audio until the 2nd period. http://sjhl.neulion.com/sjhl/

  2. going over all the game sheets from last night. did we out shoot the top south team 39 to 31? from the webcast looked like we played alright other than our usual defensive breakdowns.but i know that they outshot us.also great to follow duzan/hoffman/mysoriek all getting multiple point games and game stars. nice to see coaching bringing out the best in players.

  3. That rumor is beyond rediculous. Kissick has been battling an ankle injury pretty much all season. He hadnt even practiced all week. Tanner could play but at this point his ankle keeps taking setbacks. They are playing it safe until he is 100%

  4. To the second poster. The Klippers played a very spirited game and maybe a break or two and the result might have been different. As for the three players you refer to, coaching has very little to do with it. These players all went to very solid teams with talented players which makes a big difference. Taking nothing away from all three but it's a lot easier to be successful on a top team than it is on a team that is struggling, and I'm confident they would say the same thing. Wish all three success.

  5. to the 8:55poster.obviously you have never or should ever coach.at the start of our season we had a competitive team.with proper leadership, guidance, teaching, belief in your players a coach has a lot to do with it.name me one sucessful team that doesnt have a good coach?we traded away these 3 great players after grooming them to be together for this year.they were not shown the respect and faith that a good coach would have.they were used as an excuse for incompetent coaching.mark my words the 1992 boys will be next on the chopping block.a great coach inspires and players in turn will go to the wall for him.we do not have this.

  6. Dear 8:03,
I have been around lot's of good coaches and been coached by many great coaches, in many different sports. I don't disagree that you need all the traits you have mentioned. On that note, why is the coach that took over at Christmas last year so much different than the one in place this Christmas? One answer, the age and the depth of the talent. It's not the same as last year and it's showing, end of story. At the start of the season every team was competitive but as is usually the case experience and talent seperate the top teams from the others, it goes in cycles.

As for the 3 players traded away, they are all having great success with their new teams. Is it just a coincidence that they all went to serious contenders with great suporting casts? As talented as they are, and were leading the team in scoring, they weren't exactly tearing the league up were they? They all saw their regular shift, they killed penalties and they were usually the first powerplay unit so to say they weren't shown respect is just not true. I don't recall the coaches ever coming out in the media saying these players were not giving everything they had. How were they used as an excuse? As has been stated many, many times already, the team did what any other would have done in the same situation, leverage their assests as best they can for the future. If the 1992's aren't doing the job expected maybe they will be moved, that's no different that the workplace.

Yes, great coaches inspire blah, blah, blah but it's a heck of a lot easier to inspire when you're in the upper echelon of the league. Ken Miller inspired the Riders for 3 games and we all know the rest of the story.

Who would you like to see coaching this team, let me guess .......
