Kindersley Set To Entertain Former Klipper Taylor Wasden and The Money Men

VS

Your pregame blog is brought to you buy:

Tonight marks game number 47 of 58 for the Kindersley Klippers, as they entertain the Melville Millionaires. Melville has won all 5 of the meetings between the 2 clubs so far this season, 4 of those Mills win came in regulation with 1 coming in overtime.

Despite the lose on Sunday night out in Weyburn, Kindersley put together their most complete game of 2012. They will need to bring that kind of compete level once again tonight, but also find their scoring touch against a very explosive Melville club.

This is a team that loaded up at the SJHL trade deadline bringing in veteran forwards Connor Bradshaw, and Taylor Wasden. They also got Sean Aschim back from the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL.

In terms of Taylor Wasden, he will make his return to Kindersley tonight and I bet he gets a standing ovation from the Kindersley faithful. It will be interesting to see if anyone tries to drop the mitts with Wazy tonight, so far in 5 games with Melville, Wasden has been very discipline and hasn't racked up any penalty minutes. I know the Klippers players all respect Wasden as a player and a friend, but on the ice you have no friends, your opponent becomes your enemy.

Kindersley will likely be without forward Tanner Kissick who is still recovering from an upper body injury. No word yet on when he may return to the lineup.

I also want to mention that this will be my 2nd last home game broadcast of the season. I have accepted a radio job back home in Edmonton and will be leaving Kindersley on February 3rd. I will still get to broadcast this weekends road trip and also next Thursdays home game. In terms of the job I will get to an in depth blog post about where I am headed, and my time in Kindersley at some point early next week. I just wanted to put this out their since alot of people have been asking me about it. I hope to see you down at the WCEC tonight, the boys put on a very exciting performance on Sunday and I would expect to see that effort once again tonight!

You can catch tonight's broadcast streaming online here http://sjhl.neulion.com/sjhl/

  2. Ullsy,
Congratulations, this is well deserved and I knew it was only a matter of time. You have grown leaps and bounds as a broadcaster and the Klippers will miss your passion and commitment a great deal. Hopefully you will get to continue in the broadcast booth and when you're on HNIC don't forget us!

    1. For the record, Wazzy is happy to be with a playoff bound team but he wasn't demanding to be traded either. He loved Kindersley and the Klippers and believed in the team and the organization. There is a lot of talent on this team and when they "learn" to win they are going to be very good and I believe that is going to be as early as next year. I don't think there is another team in the SJ that has every player on their roster eligible to return. That bodes well for the future. Stay the course all you fans and you will be rewarded.

  5. Good Luck Ullsy on the new Job. Going home Eh!
Wow! what a sad effort last night, the boys look like they would like to be done now. They look lost and devoid of ideas.
I wonder why? There is no doubt some of them have a good upside, are they not getting the right encouragement or direction?
I'll be surprised if some of them even want to come back under the present regime.
High point last night a couple of great plays between Bosovich and Buckingham, top notch!

    1. Sad effort? Not sure I agree with that totally. There were a few lapses for sure but I saw lot's of good things last night too (and I was cheering for Melville). Forwards were skating well and making some slick plays, lots of passes on the tape, saw lots of compete (McGrath gave his pal Wasden a nice little slash after a check). Sure some players might not have a ton of jump right now but let's be honest, losing wears on you whether you are a player, a coach or a fan. Another thing, you can't always be blaming coaches. Lot's of players today are on their own program so it doesn't matter who's running the ship. If a player has his own agenda and doesn't want to come back next year fine, that's his decision. Give him a ride to the bus depot and send him on his way. I still believe in this team and will enjoy following them next year.
      Good luck Klippers!

  6. Klipperman you are exactly right. Our board needs to address the problems on the coaching front time to do the right thing, Zinger has to go.

  7. DONT YOU THINK LOSING IS VERY HARD ON THESE BOYS.TO GET TO THIS LEVEL TAKES YEARS OF SACRIFICE,DEDICATION AND "COMPETING" AT A HIGHER LEVEL.HOW CAN WE EXPECT THE BOYS TO WIN AGAINST TEAMS LOADED WITH VETS? WE ARE THE ONLY TEAM IN THE WHOLE LEAGUE THAT HAS TRADED AWAY ALL OF OUR VETRAN LEADERSHIP.HOW CAN WE WIN? THE BOYS ARE NOT BEING TAUGHT,WHERE IS SOME LEADERSHIP ON THE BENCH? UNFOLD YOUR ARMS, GET OUT THE WHITE BOARD,SHOW UP TO A PRACTISE, GIVE A TALK TO THE TEAM AFTER ANOTHER HARD LOSS.DO SOMETHING.IF YOU CANT THEN DO THE RIGHT THING AND STEP DOWN.

  8. Sure, fire the coach, that would mean 3 coaches in less than 2 years. Isn't that a great recruiting tool. Let's see how the team does next year and then see if any changes need to be made. Would you have rather kept all the 20's, not gotten anything for them and still not made the playoffs? Then you'd be beaking that they should have moved the vets. Can't have it both ways sports fans!

    1. INSTEAD OF PUTTING UP WITH A BELOW AVERAGE COACH WE SHOULD ALL DEMAND MORE."SEE HOW THE TEAM DOES NEXT YEAR" WOW!!! MOST OF THESE YOUNG MEN HAVE 3 YEARS TO IMPROVE THEIR HOCKEY SKILLS AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL,WE HAVE TO GIVE THEM EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO ACHIEVE THOSE GOALS.YES I WOULD HAVE KEPT HOFFMAN,DUZAN,MYSORIEK,WASDEN,KING,ROGERS,FLANAGAN.LOOK AT THAT LIST. WE GAVE UP ALL OF THAT FOR FUTURES WHICH LEAVE US AT THE MERCY OF ANOTHER COACH.JUST READ THE SJHL OVERTIME MAGAZINE, THE NEW WINNING COACH IN NORTH BATTLEFORD SAYS "WE HAVE STUCK TO OUR GAME PLAN. WE TEACH,THE PLAYERS LEARN. THEY'VE TAKEN OWNERSHIP. WE DON'T DICTATE HERE. WE DO THINGS TOGETHER AND INCLUDE THE PLAYERS IN THE PROCESS. WE ACCEPT FEEDBACK,AND ALSO EXPLAIN WHY WE DO THINGS THE WAY WE DO." NOW IS THAT NOT WHAT WE THE FANS,SPONSORS,BOARD AND PLAYERS SHOULD BE EXPECTING AND RECIEVING HERE IN KINDERSLEY???

    2. You didn't give it all up for zero return, some active players, some list players that could make the squad next year or the year after. As far as futures, that usually means cash trades hands and that helps the team bring in players from BC or Alberta etc. Battleford has turned it around and look at their roster, lot's of veterans (more than 4). Also look at their record over the last few years and the shape of their program, nobody wanted to go there because they were losing.

Maybe you should step behind the bench, sounds like you could turn it around!

  9. It's not trading the twenty year olds, it's the fact that most of these players have been playing together for 25 to 40 games, yet they still don't seem to be able to play as a team.
That's coaching and motivation, or the lack of it.
Don't get me wrong, it's not an easy job, if it was we would all be doing it.
The team will live and die by those choices, let's see what the team does next year, but we can't afford another like this, just look at the fan base it's terrible, less than 250 the other night. It must be depressing for the players to play in that atmosphere

  10. Last year the team was playing much better and the crowds weren't what they should have been either. Maybe the team can promote a "family pac" where they pay a set price of maybe $40.00 and they get 4 admission tickets, 4 popcorn and 4 small drinks. That might encourage more families with younger fans to attend. Many NHL teams use such promotions and it does improve attendance.
