Day 2 Camp Recap

Before we get to all the action a short note to all the parents of the Klippers. I have started to meet some of the parents on the team which is great. I would like to meet all of the parents , so if you see me at camp feel free to stop me and chat. It is somewhat intimidating going up to all you crazy hockey parents haha kidding. It will be a great year and I look forward to meeting all of you. Thanks again to all you parents who have been saying how much you are enjoying this blog, especially from a guy that has seen the Klippers play twice on the ice and your knowledge of the Klippers at this point is likely triple what mine is lol , but I love doing this blog and hopefully it will only get better as the season rolls along. I am also pleased to mention that this blog has 900 page views in its first four days on the web. Thank you for reading everyone !

Now on to the hockey action, WHERE TO START !

How about the big fight we witnessed right off the face off. Sitting in the crowd I was pumped and wished I was behind the microphone calling the play by play.

Two players fighting to crack the squad decided to make an impression right off the get go and what an impression it was.

E.Webb (93 year old dman ) , tangled with Justin Gerwing ( 92 year old fwd ). Gerwing took it to Webb off the start but Webb landed a few near the end. Gerwing gets the belt though.

Now I knew camp would be competitive which is why there were 3 fights tonight. The other two being between , Riley Long (92) and Tanner Kissick(93) and Olsen(93) and Tyndall(93). I like the fact that the kids were trying to send a message but by the third fight I felt like it could of been saved for the next day. A big hit , or a nice set up would of impressed Larry alot more in my opinion, but what do I know , maybe Larry said he wanted to see more character out there.

Since were on to the youngsters , alot of them are in tough with so many 90 and 91 forwards returning. In fact the Klippers could dress a whole forward lineup with 90 and 91 year born players. In my mind that is not likely. I do expect two 18 year old , 92 born players to make this squad up front. Two that really impressed me tonight were , Pearce Gourley and Justin Gerwing. For Gourley the guy has size , strength and was all over the ice even scoring two goals. Justin Gerwing , on the other hand was the first one to drop the gloves on the evening , he has strength and is also one of the fastest players on the ice. Alot of other young forwards held their own against the vets aswell , at this point its tough to judge these guys and wouldn't be fair to them for me to give them judgment after only seeing them play twice. I will have more on all the youngsters when we see them get into some exhibiton action starting Monday night for the rookie game , when the Klips will likely dress 75 percent of the roster as rookies.

On to the vets. The best player on the ice tonight in my mind was Taylor Duzan. I am sure everyone is aware of his work ethic , but this guy has a great skill set to match. He was flying all over the ice and scored a beautiful goal.

The first line once again was great , I thought that Johnny Calkins was the best of Dommett and Adamyk tonight but all three were very good as always.

Jordan Hoffman , a guy I haven't said much about yet was good. He was money on the faceoffs and had a few great chances. This is a guy I expect will really excel as the season moves along and expect big things from him this season.

Mysiorek , Exner and King once again made a statement for the top six all having strong showings.

The bottom six on this team is still wide open. Taylor Wasden , Beau Tyler , Ryan Benn, Riley Down are all very hard workers , I cant wait to see these guys when they get into a game situation.

There is alot of youngsters fighting to make this team, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a fwd that played for the Klippers last season get bumped off the roster. No idea who that would be at this point, but we will see as the camp moves along.

Tonight we witnessed a very intense game , and I expect it to get more intense tomorrow for the annual inter squad game. There were 24 forwards on the ice tonight , two of which just arrived (Bosovich , and Schwark). All 24 in my mind could make this team, no of them look out of place and Larry has some very tough decisions to make in the near future.

I have kind of held off on the defensemen and goalies at this point, but I will get a full recap in with the dmen and goalies after tomorrows game.

The scoring summary will be posted tomorow aswell.

Game two final score. Team Shea 5 - Team Perkins 4
