Day 3 Camp Review

Well it has certainly been a very exciting three days of training camp and alot still up in the air.

Im going to do things a bit different here.

First I want to start with the three stars out there in this one for now.

1. Braden Adamyk , I know he was on the losing end of things team wise , but I felt he dominated for the most part on the ice tonight. I felt he was the best of the 3 on his line. Two goals and another thing I really liked was he also likes to throw a hit here and there. For a skilled guy that is always good to see.

2.Taylor Wasden, I felt this was his best game at camp so far. I also found out he has been playing with hurt knees so far in camp. It sure didn't look like that tonight as he battled hard all night. He also got into a fight and destroyed Webb. Webb btw fought twice tonight , more on him later.

3. Justin Gerwing, he was flying out there tonight , the kid has speed and alot of skill. He has great hockey sense from what I gathered. He always seems to make the right play. I am very excited to see what he can do in pre season action.

HM - The line of Mysiorek , Hoffman , Duzan. They are a line who is starting to gel more and more as camp progresses. There is a chance of this line sticking together to start the season and I really liked what I seen from this trio tonight.

Tonight's Important Notes

Nick Eliason was not on the ice tonight for the Klippers. He has reported back to his AAA club and will not play for the Klippers this season. I was very surprised to hear this as I was sure he was going to make this team.

Sticking with the back end , Eric Webb a 17 year old from Alberta dropped the gloves twice tonight. He fought Howell first and then Wasden after. He got beat hard in both fights , but you gotta give the kid credit for showing what hes got. The crazy thing about all this is that as a 17 year old from Alberta , he cant even play for the Klippers this season. He informed me that he is doing this to send a message for next season. The kid has alot of heart but I don't think fighting is his game at this point in his hockey career.

Still on the back end . Kurt Leedahl didt skate again tonight , but not to worry he is just playing things extra safe so that hes healthy for the season. Good call because he will be a stud on d this season for the Klips and they don't have a ton of depth at this point.

Now with Eliason gone , and Webb not eligible to play. That leaves the top four in my mind right now as

Leedahl - Flanagan

Sonntagg - Tabin ( BTW alot of people are saying he is a completely different player than last year and very impressive I might add)

That leaves Bartel (92) , Thiel (93) , Howell (94) who will probably be sent down to midget shortly.

I fully expect Larry to add another dmen in the next few days via trade. At this point if one of the dmen goes down to injury , things look very slim.

In net we are down to three tenders as Webb had been released.

Scott Hellyer, has been very good in camp and in my mind will be the guy for the Klippers to start the year.

Justin Mcdonald , Was really good tonight. He made some huge saves , and will likely be the backup this year.

Both goalies will continue to push each other through preseason action.

Patrick Johnson - He is the third goalie out for the Klippers. He has been pretty steady in camp so far. I had a chat with his dad who informed me about Johnson being out at the Edmonton Oil Kings Camp. He also said that Patrick has been saying nothing but great things about the Klippers and when it comes to Junior A hockey he wants to be a Klipper. He will have to be lights out to stick with the Klippers this season , but the future is very bright for this kid. He may even end up in the WHL next season, if not he will certainly be a Klipper.

The forward situation is still very un clear. You can only take so much from these intersquad games. Pre season will be huge for some of these forwards trying to make this team. Tomorrow night the Klippers will face Battlefords , and it will be very interesting to see who dresses for the Klippers. Alot of 94 born players will play tomorrow before some return back to their respected AAA clubs. Should also note that Schwark (94) made his debut tonight and I noticed him right off the bat. He made a huge hit in the first and had a ton of chances offensively. He also potted a goal. Was very impressed with him.

At this point I really don't want to speculate who I think is going to make the team up front. I mean we all know that Dommett , Adamyk , and Calkins will be the first line. The rest is very much wide open at this point and unfortunately some very good hockey players wont be wearing the Klippers jersey this season.

Should also note that a few releases were made tonight. The only one I know of is Webb the fourth goalie at this point. I will be heading out to camp tomorrow morning, to find out who and also get the lineup for tomorrow nights game. Will also have more player interviews up some time Monday morning.

Heres tonight's Goal Scorers.

Team Shea 7

Team Perkins 5

Shea Goals - Kissick , Exner , Wintoneak , King , Hoffman , Duzan , Webb

Perkins Goals - Olsen , Adamyk (2) , Schwark , Wasden
