D Jay McGrath A Klipper and the NHL Klipper Draft

I can now confrim that D Jay McGrath is indeed a Kindersley Klipper. He is set to arrive in Kindersley tomorrow and will join the team. I had a chat with Larry this morning and he said he was excited to see what he brings to this team. I am sure Larry has been following him in the WHL this season , but at this time it is tough to see exactly where he will slot in the lineup. On Everett he was centering the third line , so we will have to wait and see what the line combos will be.

Larry also mentioned that he is a home town boy and knows alot of the boys on the team so he should fit right in. Alot of the players seemed very happy to have him aboard.

In Other News , last night was the NHL Player Draft with some of the players and the town of Kindersley.

Myself , Phil Andrews , Kris Hussey and Chris Sikorsky from Mix 104 and 1330 classic hits entered a team.

In the first round we had 13th overall and snaged Malkin. Each player could be picked twice but even with that I was shocked we were able to land Malkin that late. He is a guy who could score 100 points this season. He looked great in game one against Philly and showed no signs of that foot injury last season.

Here is are full team

1.Evegeni Malkin
2.Zach Parise
3.Brad Richards
4.Corey Perry
5.Mikko Koivu
6.Loui Eriksson
7.Alexander Frolov
8.Brooks Laich
9.Claude Giroux
10.Dustin Penner
Wild Card -  Logan Couture

I love this team. With 18 teams in the draft I was suprised we got some of these players. I would say our first 5 picks all finish in the top 20 in scoring this season. Brad Richards finished 7th in league scoring last year and is on a contract season.

Mikko Koivu is the most underated player in the NHL. He finished top 30 in scoring the past 2 seasons and in my mind was a steal. He had 71 points last season and is Minnesotas go to guy.

Loui Eriksson has emerged as a great offensive player in the NHL . Last season he finished with 71 points and is getting better each season. He is on a line with Richards and could finish top 15 in scoring this year. Very pumped we got him in the 6th round.

We went safe until we took Claude Giroux. He is a guy who could break out this season. He may or may not. Philly has alot of fire power so he could benefit from that but he could also not get enough ice time. We will see.

Our strategy was to not take any INJURY PRONE PLAYERS. All of our guys have a proven track record of staying heathy. If one guy goes down in this draft you can pretty much say good bye to your chances.

I will have a game preview up later. Check Back later....
