Well first of all , what an exciting night. The crowd was awesome as the community came together on a night that was more than just about hockey.
The town has waited a long time for this and it was great to see the Klippers come out on put on a great show. The Klippers really were impressive tonight. Overall it was easily there best game of the season. The Klippers have been pretty solid on the road to start the season , but they lacked that complete game where all cylinders were firing. Tonight it was exactly that. It started from the first line of Adamyk , Calkins and Taylor, then continued on to all four lines. All 4 lines were rolling effectively in this one.
The big line though set the tone for this game early with a huge shift to start and a big goal. Johnny Calkins was making sick feeds all night long , and early on he made a great pass to Taylor in front to Barry the first goal of the game.
Overall I thought this line was dynamite all night long.
Adamyk and Calkins didn't have there best games in Yorkton , but tonight they were clearly the best two players on the ice. The official stat sheet shows Calkins with 4 assists and Adamyk with 2 goals. It could of been alot more for both players , but you cant complain about those numbers.
The Klippers were also very impressive on the physical side of things tonight. Usually you would see Sonntag laying out all the hits but tonight Calkins made a huge open ice hit , Wasden made a bone crushing hit along the boards and Haff and Bartel also stepped up making big hits on the back end.
Speaking of the back end , it was a great performance by all 6 dmen tonight. There was no major blipses , and solid puck moving all night long that created a ton of odd man rushes.
In the pipes Scotty Hellyer was great. His best game of the season. He made some huge saves in the second period that helped the Klippers gain back the momentum. Who knows how the game could of changed if Scotty didnt make one of those big saves.
Overall from top to bottom their wasn't much you could complain about from this game. The boys came to play tonight and were rewarded with the W. Simply put the Klippers were the better team tonight.
Tomorrow night the Klippers will take on the Weyburn Redwings. The Wings last night beat the Stars 7-1 but tonight they did not fare so well. Just checked the SJHL scoreboard and seen that Weyburn got Shilaked by Humboldt by a score of 10-4. Wow that is wild. Tomorrow will be the Wings 3rd game in 3 nights, you would think they might be a bit tired, Hopefully the crowd is as solid as it was tonight. Hope to see ya at the rink tomorrow. Puck drop 6 PM
Check back tomorrow afternoon. I know I will be watching NFL football all day , but I shall make time to put up some of the interviews from after tonight's game. Some pretty good ones. Check back...
