Here are some game notes heading into tonight's game.
- Klippers newest acquisition Cody Lund will likely be in the lineup tonight. He had arrived in Kindersley and practiced with the team yesterday. I had a chat with Sean Flanagan about Cody Lund and he said he looked really solid in practice, and very comfortable with the team.
- Kindersley will once again look for some revenge on last seasons game 7 OT playoff lose on the hands of the Yorkton Terriers. They couldn't get it done in Yorkton earlier this season when they fell by a score of 5-4
- The Yorkton power play was a big factor in the teams previous match ups going 2-4. Yorkton has the number one PP in the SJHL and the Klippers are ranked 11th in the penalty kill department. The penalty kill for the Klippers looked much improved against Flin Flon this past weekend but we will see how it fairs tonight against the leagues best PP.
- Yorkton has lost 3 games in a row , all 3 at home. This might not be the best time for the club to embark on there nine game road trip that kicks off tonight against Kindersley.
- Klippers forward Sanfred King is currently riding a 7 game point streak and he will hope to continue that tonight. Kinger had 2 helper in the previous matchup against Yorkton.
- A Player to watch tonight from both teams.
Klippers - Justin Gerwing - He scored 2 times against Yorkton earlier this year and has looked really solid of late for the Klippers as a rookie.
Terriers - Clarke Breitkreuz - This kid has so much skill. He really stood out for me against Kindersley the first game of the season and also scored a goal. Shutting him down tonight , may be the key to a Klippers victory.
- There has been some confusion with a few people thinking that because Justin McDonald has gotten the past 3 starts that may mean he is now the starter. Although Mac did look good , that is not the case. Scotty Hellyer is the guy for the Klippers he was battling the flu this past weekends road trip and if he is healthy he will indeed start tonight. Should also note that the Klippers are 5-1 when Scotty is in the net this season.
- D Jay McGrath will make his home debut tonight. D Jay is a Kindersley local that alot of fans may remember from back in Bantam.
- This might be the final night for a few players to impress Larry Wintoneak. The Klippers currently have 25 skaters and need to get down to numbers very shortly.
One Final Note - This is a huge game for the Klippers. Yorkton is 1st in the Sherwood division and they are struggling for the first time this year. The Klippers need to take advantage of that. Although its early on in the season these points do really matter.
Check back later. I will have a few more game notes come game time and the Klippers lineup.
