Yorkton Continues Series Dominance With 7-0 Win In Game 3

First off I am shocked to be honest at how this series up to this point has turned out. Before the series had started I will admit I really liked Kindersleys chances in this series. Right now though those chances are certainly fading away and the Klippers will have to give everything they have in order to avoid being swept.

I am somewhat lost for words when trying to describe what has happened to the Kindersley Klippers. Would anyone around the SJHL have thought the Klippers would be outscored 21-2 through 3 games in the series? Would anyone have thought that one of the most feared lines in the SJHL of Andrew Dommett, John Calkins and Braeden Adamyk would have a combined 0 points thus far in the series through 3 games? Would anyone have thought the Klippers powerplay would go 0-9 in back to back games with all the talent this team has? I certainly didn't and in my mind their is not a true answer to these questions, they are simply unexplainable.

None the less that is where we stand right now after Yorkton would find twine 7 times once again in the series at the WCEC last night.

It was obvious that Kindersley needed the first goal of the hockey game last night, and despite coming out off the hop with a bunch of jump and generating some solid chances even getting a powerplay early, the Klippers would fail to score the opening goal.

Back the other way the Terriers would swarm and it was Justin Buzzeo who would score the first goal of the hockey game under five minutes into the contest. Another fairly early goal by the Terriers just like they have done all series. Another trend in the series has been when Yorkton scores, another goal comes right after it and that again was the case when Ciolfi would score his playoff leading 9th of the playoffs. From their on you had to think the Klipper players were thinking here we go again. The crowd life was instantly sucked out of the arena at that point also. Now despite going down 2-0 the Klippers still had some fight in the first creating some great chances, Spencer Braaten would ring one of the post, and Andrew Dommett would fire one wide on a point blank chance from the slot. The difference in that first period was Yorkton's big guns capitalized and Kindersley's didn't.

In the second it would get ugly once again for the Klippers. The Yorkton top guns would just keep coming and coming, the Killer B's certainly had that killer instinct in this one as Boyer, Buzzeo and Breitkreuz would all score in the frame. Buzzeo would add another in the 2nd to complete the hat trick.

Not a whole lot of excitement in the third period, Yorkton would add a seventh goal on Breitkreuz's 2nd of the game, and the final would once again be 7-0 in favor of Yorkton.

Seems like a long time since the Klippers have scored on Devin Peters hey?

Well Peters has a very impressive shutout streak currently running at 137 minutes which will carry into game number 4.

In terms of this series I don't think the problem has been a lack of effort from the Klippers because I know they are trying their best right now. I have to give some props to Johnny Calkins and Jordon Hoffman who both layed it all on the line last night. Both were no where near one hundred percent but despite that they were two of the better Klippers. Callkins was throwing hits, back checking, giving it his all on the forcheck which was great to see. As for Hoffman you know what your going to get from him no matter what the case. Hoff will work his ass off every shift just like he did last night despite being barely able to make a pass or shoot the puck.

Overall there is not really an answer to why the Klippers have struggled so much, the players and the organization is certainly puzzled as am I and it doesn't help the cause when Yorkton is playing at such a high level. Sure the Klippers have been bad, but you have to give a ton of credit to the way the Yorkton Terriers have played in this series. They look scarier then Halloween every time they touch the puck, their offensive players have took their game to an entire new level and they are making the Klippers look silly.

Today though is another day for the Kindersley Klippers. Desperation will kick in tonight and I do think this game will be a much tougher one for the Yorkton Terriers to win, after all the forth game in a series is the hardest to win. This could be the last game of the season for the 9 20 year olds on the Klippers roster and you can bet they will be giving it their all to make sure it isn't.

Here is Rockie Zinger after last nights game...

Rockie Zinger Post Game

Game four will go tonight at the WCEC with puck drop at 7:30. Hopefully the town is still behind this team and can help them try to make a series of it. Webcast with play by play will kick off at 7:15

  1. Nobody saw it coming. Yet, it's happening. Terriers probably look extra scary with the puck because they're in the Klippers heads. Not to mention everyone around the team.

Not only are the Terriers winning the series, they're sending a message to the Bauer Conference team that will come out of the North Final.
