Day 3 Camp Wrapup

The final intersquad game of training camp was played last night bringing main camp to a close. The focus now shifts to preseaon action with 4 games in a span of 5 days. The preseason officially beings tonight from the WCEC when the Klippers host the AJHL's Drumheller Dragons. I will post tonight's lineup here shortly but for now here is a wrap from day 3 of camp.

- Their were a few new faces at camp yesterday, Forward Cody McKinnon, Defenseman Aaron Leterneau and Defenseman Auery Dunlop.

- Chace Nelson also arrived last night but didn't suit up for the intersquad game, the 16 year old will however play in tonight's pre season opener. For 16 this is one big kid, I am excited to see him lace up the skates.

- You can expect a few releases to be made this morning, at this time I don't know all of them but I would expect around 5 players to be let go. I will find out who when I get to the rink sometime this morning.

- Team Blue last night won by a score of 5-2 over team white/green. Goals for blue were scored by Colby Daniels (2), Taylor Duzan (2) and Landon Robin.

- Team Greens goals were both scored by Ryan McConnell.

- Speaking of McConnell I thought he had his best game of the camp so far last night, he was hard on the forcheck, driving the net and overall doing what he needs to do to impress the coaching staff. He is a strong kid and the Klippers are expecting him to play a power forward type of game.

- Colby Daniels and Landon Robin also had good games last night and for me have been the two most impressive rookies at camp thus far.

- A few other rookie standouts last night were Mitchell Schwark, Morgan Eaton, Kadin Schmaltz, and Jeff Olsen.

- Olsen was in the camps first scrap with newly arrived Auery Dunlop, both landed a few punches and I would say it was a pretty even fight.

- Overall I don't want to critic the rookies a whole lot more until I see everyone in an exhibition game.

- A short recap of last nights intersquad game but I will have a new post up shortly with tonight's exhibition lineup and hopefully the releases that were made this morning and an updated depth chart.

Hope to see ya out at the WCEC tonight! Cheers.

  2. What happened to the trade with Dayton Reinboldt?? He would have been good here for a few years, now do we get nothing out of that trade too?????? How did he end up in AJHL????

  3. Cause he didn't want to be here. I for one don't want players who you have to beg to show up. Team chemistry is way more important.

  4. The Klippers roster had it has Olsen but I can change it. As for Reinboldt he informed Rockie a day before camp that he wasnt going to show up. Not sure what his status is at the moment.

  5. To the second poster, nothing a team can do if a player doesn't want to show up. When they are on the phone they'll tell a team one thing and a month later change their mind. It happens every day. Melville got a Saskatchewan born player from Lanigan who was playing in BC. Guess what, he asked to be traded back to BC. If you don't WANT to play for the Klippers get yourself on the first bus out of town and don't look back cause nobody will be waving!

People shouldn't be so quick to judge the organization. Most of these players think they're bigger than the team and think they can call the shots. Those kind of guys we don't need.
