Monday Morning Hits

Lots of activity for the Klippers over the weekend.

- The SJHL is sending 10 of its players to the World Junior 'A' Challenge Team West Evaluation camp, starting Sunday in Canmore, AB. Not on the list is Klipper forward Tanner Kissick who was suppose to attend the camp but is unable to as he is currently day-to-day recovering from an injury.

- The Klippers now have a crowded crease with 3 solid goaltenders now in the mix. Patrick Johnson has arrived in Kindersley after being reassigned by the Saskatoon Blades on Thursday. The question now is what is going to happen with Fraser Abdallah who had a very good camp topped off with a stellar exhibition win over Humboldt. Johnson is younger than Abdallah which could give him the upper hand in the back up department. I will try and get an update from Rockie Zinger today, but as of now all 3 goaltenders are still with the club,

- Rockie Zinger informed me that the Kindersley Klippers will hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce their team captain for the upcoming season. Time and place have yet to be determined but I will have more info shortly on the announcement.

- 2 new forwards have arrived in Kindersley, at the moment that is all I know. Hope to get the names and further details today.

- Kindersley trimmed their roster over the weekend reassigning Kadin Schmaltz and Ryan McBride to Midget AAA. Both Kindersley boys at the moment are just to young to crack the squad. I would expect both them to be on the team next season. Two great kids that worked hard to try and earn a spot.

- The Klippers also released Ryan McConnell, I thought he had a solid camp but really needed to play more physical and tougher in my mind to crack a spot.

- Landon Robin and Jeremy Leclerc have both elected to head back to Midget AAA. Both would of likely had a spot on the Klippers but wanted to head back to Midget AAA for this season playing prominent roles for their teams.

- I have heard some speculation that the Klippers may be getting a few players back from the WHL this week. At the time it is just speculation so we will leave it at that.

-  Here is the Klippers roster at the moment.

Up front :

Taylor Duzan, Taylor Wasden, Jesse Mysiorek, Ryan Elliot, D Jay McGrath, Jordon Hoffman,Tanner Kissick, Austin McDonald, Colby Daniels, Bradley Buckingham, Justin Lund, Mitchell Schwark, Forward X and Forward Y ( still need to find out the 2 names of these 2 guys that arrived over the weekend )

Defense :

Casey Rogers, David Haaf, Zane Morin, Brett Blatz, Morgan Eaton, Aaron Leterneau

Goal :

Justin McDonald, Patrick Johnson, Fraser Abdallah

- Solid weekend of football watching. Good for the Riders to take down the Bombers the way they did. I certainly was a bit spectacle when Ken Miller was coming back, but he really has this team going and the Riders suddenly look like the team they were last season.

- It sure was good to watch the NFL all day on Sunday, and better yet my Bengals knocked off the Cleavland Browns. I guess beating Cleavland isn't the biggest feat but I didn't see anyone picking the Bengals to win. It seems like every season everyone just writes the Bengals off but this year could be a bit different. They have a very easy schedule off the hop and a solid defense. Not saying they are going to make the playoffs but I could see them finishing 9-7 or 8-8.

I hope to chat with Rockie sometime this morning to get an update on all the roster moves that we hit on in this post.

Enjoy the week, the SJHL season is upon us.
