Klippers Drop Home Opener In Dramatic Fashion

Your post game report is brought to you by

As the third period went along last night you just knew something bad was going to happen. It seemed like some of the Klippers decided to take the night off around the half way point of the second period, and the North Stars started to take over the hockey game. It really looked like a different team then the previous night. With that being said the Klippers still had a chance at winning last nights contest. Eaton had a rough bounce off a faceoff trying to clear the puck that ended up going right off of Schwabs stick and into the back of the net. A tough bounce for Kindersley but things like that tend to happen when your not working as hard as you should be.

It looked like the Kindersley faithful were in store for some overtime hockey, but a giveaway in the neutral zone by Casey Rogers resulted in a Wakelin breakaway back the other way to end the game with 6 seconds left. You cant fault McDonald for the loss, I thought he deserved a better fate and really was the only reason the game was tied in the third frame.

Defensively the Klippers werent as sound as the previous night, but as a young defenseive group you can expect nights like that. Up front I thought the line of Tanner Kissick, Wheaton King, and D Jay McGrath had a really strong night. I will throw Wasden into the mix to as he was buzzing the entire evening for the Klippers.

Overall though their wasnt enough guys playing their A games last night, with hockey being a team game you really need to have your whole team competing 100 percent and I didnt see that from the squad last night.

The team will hang their heads for a couple of days, but it should give them motivation to prepare better for the next game. It's only game 2 of a 58 game season, and you can bet that the Klippers will come out fired up on Tuesday night when they host the Melfort Mustangs.

  1. The new squad looks good, lots of new faces with some energy. I thought if we could have got more shots early on NB's pylon it could have been another route. He looked shakey with the glove hand. Bounce back boys and hammer Melfort Tues. Looks good Rockie.

  2. I agree with you that Kissick's line played fairly well offensively but they also let in three goals. We have to be prepared to move both ways on the ice.
