Thursday Randoms and What I Have Missed

Hey guys , it has been a few days without a post. I have been really busy at the station of late but should be back on schedule blog wise.
How excited are your for the SJHL season to kick off tonight when Mellville hosts Estevan. This is going to be my first regular season SJHL game I have ever watched , and I am pumped that it's on TV tonight.

Hopefully that will give Klipper fans their fix tonight since the Klippers aren't in action until Saturday's game vs Battlefords.

Now ,before we get into the game preview just wanted to touch on a couple roster moves. The team has yet to be finalized but that could likely happen later today after the Klippers return back to Kindersley after today's practice out in Eston.

Cody Thiel returned back to Midget AAA after looking very solid and would of likely been in the Klippers top 6 this season.

With Cody heading back, the Klippers made a move the other day bringing in, 18 year old David Haaf, who is from Medicine Hat. Larry has been on the hunt for a dman for a while , so I am sure he did his homework on this kid. I am excited to see what he brings to this team. It sounds like he will be a solid fit in the top 6.

The Klippers roster in net and on defense is currently set

Hellyer = Mcdonald in the pipes

and

Leedhall-Flanagan
Sonntag-Tabin
Down-Haff
Bartel

I would not be surprised at all if Larry brings in another defensemen before the opening game or sometime this weekend as it sounds like he is still looking.

Speaking of dmen the Battlefords Northstars who are the Klippers opening day opponent have added three dmen to their roster today according to Dan O'Conner.

Nathan Zimbaluk,  Dakota Johnson, Cade Kimery are the new guys and this is just great for me as I try to memorize the Battlefords roster for my first ever SJHL broadcast this Saturday.

Ok now onto this Saturdays game....

This will be like I mentioned my first ever SJHL hockey broadcast. I am excited but very nervous. Getting all the players down pat is a bit of a struggle at this point since I do not no either teams official lineup for opening day. I am hoping that Battlefords will release there roster here very shortly so I can study the heck out of it.
The only thing I can confirm at this point is that it does look like Garrett Montour the third stringer will start against the Klippers on Saturday. I expect this one to be a high scoring game and that certainly should help the Klippers case with Kyle Birch still serving his suspension.

Speaking of Kyle Birch , I was very impressed with his color commentary skills in the Battlefords final pre season game the other night in Humboldt alongside Dan O'Conner. I am also hoping to get a few Klipper players throughout the season along side me in the booth for a game call. Should be a lot of fun.

Since were on color right now . Kris Hussey the former Klippers play by play man will be alongside me Saturday night as we go live at 715 on 1330 CJYM Classic hits radio for the pre game show.
I will also be broadcasting the Sunday game in La Ronge as well with the pre game show starting at 4:45.

The first edition of the SJHL power rankings came and Laronge is 1 . Battlefords 2 . Klippers 3. I think this is great that the Klippers will play the top two teams right out the gate this season. We will get a chance to see what the Klippers are made of early.

My first player profile on Fridays game will be Klippers forward Braeden Adamyk who will be coming into the studio this afternoon after their practice to record it. I will be asking him some interesting stuff so make sure you tune into that during the first intermission of Saturdays game.

I'm pumped for my first official road trip with the guys this weekend. We will be stopping in Prince Albert Satuday night after the Battlefords game before heading out to La Ronge Sunday morning.

I will likely chat with Larry Wintoneak tonight and try and get the final roster down.

Might have more to come today if anything important goes down.

I will get a game preview up tommorow
Let the SJHL season begin....
