First of all , got some news from up in the booth involving Kiley Long. It appears that he has been released from the club. It is unknown at this time where he will play but I will chat with Larry after the game to get an official update. As for Long , it is not that big of a suprise but he was a great kid with alot of character, I hope eveyrthing works out for him this season where ever he plays.
As far as the game goes it is 2-2 after one. shots 14-11 in favor of Melfort.
The Mustangs scored first on a very nice goal by Jesse Mireau that beat Hellyer on the back end.
Ryan Benn responded right back moments later by crashing the net off a Sanfred King rebound. Great to see Ryan Benn once again take advantage of his oppurtunity on the third line. He was the best player on the ice for the Klippers in that frame.
Melfort did take a 2-1 lead on the powerplay shortly after. BTW that is the Klippers first powerplay goal against in 2 games. They were 100 percent in back to back home games on the kill.
But once again the Klippers managed to bounce right back on an unassisted efforty by Justin Gerwing. Justin doing what he does best on that goal , just working hard and create chances.
Overall not the best period for the Klippers but the way they bounced back should give the momentum heading into the 2nd.
More to come....
17 was a machine out there
