The Klippers came into the third period up 3-2 after a game that for the most part was pretty even. Through 2 though I did think the Klippers were the better team but In the third the Klippers took it to another level and came out and just dominated. It was a never ending goal run that saw them score 8 goals in the final frame.
Sanfred King lead the way with a hattrick, This guy has been so impressive all season long. He plays all kinds of different rolls on this team but also adds a great deal of offense. After a tough season injury wise last year , he has truly found his mesh here in Kindersley.
Overall just like the Klippers did last night, they were able to roll four lines effectively, Every line pitched in offensively tonight which was great to see.
Calkins has been really strong this year but hadn't scored a goal yet, well tonight that quickly changed when he had 2 ginos to go with a helper. His wing man , Braeden Adamyk also continued his rapid point pace with another four points.
Up front the Klippers goals were from King (3) Calkins (2) Adamyk , Kissick , Benn , Duzan , Sonntag , Wasden.
After the game I found out that Kissick was not the only one who scored his first SJHL goal. Taylor Wasden scored his first aswell. I did not no that , but clearly last year he missed a lot of the season and also this year he had a 2 game suspension. Glad that he got that goal , that must be a huge load off his shoulders. He really did look good in the last two games since coming back from suspension. I know his game isn't to go out there and score a ton of goals but I think he will certainly add some offense throughout the season along with all his other intangibles he brings to the lineup.
Kissick like I mentioned the 17 year old , got his first SJHL goal of his career. Great for him to get it in front of the home crowd. Hes basically a local boy being from Kerrobert and I am sure his parents were in attendance.
Another player who has been really impressive this home stand is Ryan Benn. The guy does alot of things right on the ice but he has also been contributing offensively. He got the game winner in Mellville and tonight he tallied again. He had a ton of chances aswell and could of had 2 or 3.
Overall the Klippers really look good at this point in the season. They have dealt with a lot of adversity to start the year , but now being back at home they look comfortable. Its hard to imagine this team scored 18 goals in the past two games without their captain and last years SJHL leading goal scorer.
Speaking of Andrew Dommett, I had a chance to chat with him tonight up in the press box in what I guess you could call an exclusive interview. We have all heard everyones thoughts on the Dommett hit , but tomorrow you can hear what Andrew thinks. I will make you wait until tomorrow but it will be up bright and early as I will be up at 4 for the Mix 104 morning show. Tune into the sports for all kinds of clips from this weekends action. Other interviews I will have up tomorrow include , Wasden , Kissick , Larry , Hellyer and yes Dommer.
Check back early on. Have a good night
Wazzy actually scored a goal two years ago. He was called up for one game against Flin Flon just before Christmas and scored. Didn't score in his 10 games last year though.
ReplyDeletehaha well he told me it was his first SJHL goal when I interviewed him.
ReplyDeleteOdd... I remember that goal like it was yesterday. Must have been credited to someone else after the fact.
