Well suddenly the Klippers have went from somewhat of a cold streak , to ice cold. Dating back to October 28th's road trip, the Klippers have lost four out of their past six hockey games and have given up 29 goals in that span.
Going back to Nipawin's lose to a team the Klippers should of beat , gave the Klippers no momentum heading into Saturdays contest against La Ronge. For whatever reason , the Klippers can not seem to find their game against the Ice Wolves. Luckily for them that was the final match up against the Wolves this season.
The Klippers came out great defensively against La Ronge and held the Wolves to 0 goals in the opening frame. The Klippers had a huge 5-3 powerplay for over a minute and a half in the second portion of the first and could not capitalize. Adam Bartko was solid but the Klippers just kept firing shots at shin pads in front on that pp. In my mind not scoring on that 5 on 3 is what changed the tempo in that hockey game.
In the second period the Klippers just fell apart , started to get out worked , and had no match for the Wolves big guns. Marc Andre Carre , Nolan Souchotte , and Travis Eggum started to have their way with the Klippers. Eggum the former Klipper once again made his former team pay. He scored 2 on that night and 6 in total over the 4 game season series.
The Klippers were without a few key players , but that was no excuse for the effort level and way they played in the second and third period. Rocky Zinger eluded to me after the game that the effort level was weak , and he felt that maybe this team just thinks things will come easy for them after the success they had to start the year.
Overall I know the Klippers want to win more than anything , and it just seems like collectively they can't find there game right now. There offense has been inconsistent , in some games they look deadly but other games like against La Ronge just can't get anything going. I know alot of fans might be a bit worried about the way the team is playing , but I feel they will be fine. Its a rough patch right now , but every good team needs to go through something like this. I think once the Klippers find the light , they won't want to go back , and will work there asses off to stay out of the dark. The Klippers will have a huge boost to the lineup in the near future with Sanfred King , Andrew Dommett , and also Sean Flanagan back near the end of the month from the Junior A challenge. Overall I think a nice long home stand like the Klippers have upcoming with six straight at home , might just be what the team needs to turn things around.
