Klippers Win 4-2 As Andrew Dommett Returns To The WCEC

Kindersley 4  - Weyburn 2

It was a very exciting night at the WCEC with the return of Andrew Dommett , and it being parents night with alot of the kids parents making the trip for the game. Overall the Klippers played a very sound game at both ends of the ice. Alot of people were likely wondering which Klippers team would show up last night after the way they lost that contest to Estevan. You gotta give the Klippers props for not hanging their heads and coming out and playing a solid 60 minute game.

The Klippers did get outshot tonight which usually isn't the case , but solid defensive play and some solid timely goaltending from Alex Peck lead to a Klippers win.

The Klippers strength of late has really been their forecheck. All lines can forcheck hard and dominate downlow.

Right now with the return of Dommett, I love the makeup of the Klippers fwd lines. I don't see much changing any time soon from last nights game.

Dommett - Calkins - Adamyk = We all know what this line can do and will likely be the best line in the SJHL very shortly.

Mysiorek - Hoffman - Duzan = Simply relentless on the fore check and no one can contain them when they are downlow. Hoffman and Duzan are so quick and shifty and strong on their feet and then you throw in the strength and speed that Mysiorek posses its very tough to stop. Right now this line has been money of late , they are confident in each other and are three of the hardest workers in the SJHL.

Benn - King - McGrath = This is a line that has recently been put together and I really like the make up of it. All three of these guys have offensive skills but are just as soid in their own end. I think this line will start to gel very shortly.

Down - Exner - Wasden = The perfect energy line. Exner has the speed in the middle to fly and has two big bodys on his wings to muck it up.

Gerwing will be back from suspension next game and Kissick will likely be back very soon to. Two guys who will fit in wherever they are slotted in.

On to the backend....

The Klippers are really starting to look very solid defensively. Kurth Leedahl and John Sonntag have been great all season long and are starting to take their games to the next level. Sean Flanagan has really looked smooth since returning from the WJAC , you can tell his confidence is sky high. Lance Tabin , Cody Lund and new comer Casey Rogers round out a very solid top 6. Casey Rogers has already started to show his offensive flash from the back end in a very short time frame as a Klipper. He has two points in three games and got his 1st SJHL goal last night.

Just a few more notes on Andrew Dommett. He had a lot of great chances in his frist game back. The Weyburn dmen though did a great job breaking up passing attempts from Calkins and Adamyk trying to find Dommer in the high slot. He showed a few flashes of brilliance last night and really started to look comfortable out there in the tail end of that game and started to establish that chemistry with his line mates back near the end of the game. Calkins and Adamyk all have so much skill and such good hockey sense , its going to be scary to see what they guys will be able to do when they get rolling.

With the Klippers getting their leader Andrew Dommett back , Sean Flanagan and Larry Wintoneak back from the WJAC , and coming off a solid win against a division rival , I really see the Klippers starting to become the team alot of critics expected them to be before the season started. A huge test will come Wednesday when the Humboldt Broncos are in town to wrap up this home stand.

Here is Andrew Dommett and Larry Wintoneak talking about last nights game....

One final note on the Webcast last night. I know most parents couldnt watch it since you were all actually at the game. But if you would like to watch back you can access all the Klippers webcasts in the archive. I have put the link up on the right side of the blog below the radio stream. I had exclusive live interviews with Dustin Nickel in the first period intermisson last night and Tanner Kissick in the 2nd INT. They can be watched in last nights archive. $5 gets you all the games archived for one day. So far there are only two but soon to be more. Also if you have watched the webcasts feel free to pitch some ideas on ways to improve.
