Pretty In Pink. Klippers Win 5-2 On Pink Jersey Night

Totally snagged this picture off of Johnny Calkins Facebook page so I hope he doesn't mind. I took a bunch of pics of the action but being up in the broadcast booth calling the game and not being so close to the action , they didn't look as good. Maybe I will add a few of them up later.

As for the jerseys it sounds like they raised over $7000 for the cancer society , still working on getting that final jersey total and which player raised the most, but overall a successful night for the Klippers organization.

Onto the game.

Not a whole lot to say about the first forty minutes of action. The Klippers in my mind were outplayed in the first frame. Sean Cahill made some very big saves to hold the Klippers 2-1 lead until the 19:52 mark when Christian would tie things up on a re direct in front.

The second period was not very exciting. Neither team really could get a whole lot going, and it was pretty sloppy hockey. The Klippers though I am sure were thinking that was not to bad for a 2nd period as they have certainly had worse second periods this season.

Heading into the 3rd period the Klippers certainly started to take over the hockey game. Jordon Hoffman as he has done all season for the Klippers, worked his ass off to get the go ahead goal. Great energy from him as he wrapped it around , put it off a Hound dman and it caromed into the net. After that the Klippers would get a powerplay and then 7 seconds in Braeden Adamyk would get high sticked to make it a 5-3. Larry Wintoneak would draw up a beauty of a play that left Calkins wide open on the right side just atop the circle to one time it home top shelf on the Sanfred King feed. Shortly after the Klippers would add a insurance marker on Jesse Mysioreks 10th goal of the season.

Overall a huge win for the Klippers to really give them some separation from the Hounds in the Sherwood division. The Hounds have really struggled of late dropping now six in a row and have really fallen out of the playoff picture.

Johnny Calkins had a great game for the Klippers stringing together a four point night. Oh and a big happy birthday wish to Johnny who celebrates his 20th birthday today.I also thought Andrew Dommett had his best game since returning from injury. You could tell he completely had his legs back under him and he was buzzing all night long.

On the rookies Justin Gerwing and Tanner Kissick who both played last night. I thought they played very well and created some energy for the club with solid shifts downlow on the cycle. With Exner gone and Ryan Benn who was sick with the flu , Gerwing and Kissick will likely get alot more ice time.

Here is a post game interview with Larry Wintoneak talking with myself and Josh Lewis about the game , the pink jerseys and also the Tanner Exner situation.

He starts out talking about the overall flow of the game...
