Potential SJHL Final Preview Goes To Melfort

Well it was a game that was getting hyped up as potentially being an SJHL finals preview, with two of the hottest teams facing off in Melfort.

I really thought that Kindersley didn’t play as well as they could have. It certainly didn’t seem like the same effort that was put into the game against Yorkton on Tuesday.

The thing about that though is that even though the Klippers weren’t at their best, they still hung in with a very good Mustangs team until the very end.

On the Mustangs side, Cody Hanson made his debut alongside his old buddy Brayden Metz. These are two players Kindersley fans are very familiar with. I thought those two guys were the two best Melfort forwards on the night. Cody Hanson in his first game as a Mustang would score twice and also get the game winning marker.

The Melfort defense is huge, although they didn’t lay the body as much as I expected, a backend with that size is very intimidating.

Back on the Klippers their special teams are going in opposite directions right now. Their penalty kill has been great lately, but their powerplay has struggled the past 4 games. Now last night it seemed like some bad ice prevented the Klippers at times from getting their pp going but they need to bare down in situations like that. Not having Sanfred King quarterbacking the power play has also played a big factor in the Klippers powerplay struglgles of late.

Despite the lose a few Klipper players extended their point streaks,. Johnny Calkins picked up two helpers to extend his streak to 11 games, and Andrew Dommett who drew back in after the flu extended his streak to ten games.

The Klippers will look to take three of 4 on this current road swing tonight in Humboldt. You can catch the pre game show starting at 7:15

  2. Dear Anonymous,
The key word is "potential" and it was just a comment for gods sake. Lighten up and cut Ullsy some slack. Maybe go outside, shovel some snow and blow some steam off.....
