With the exception of La Ronge, tonight’s game will feature the two hottest teams in the SJHL squaring off at the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort. The two teams have met twice thus far this season with both teams trading wins in their home barns.
Tonight’s game could go either way as in an offensive style game or a goaltenders duo. I would lean towards goaltender duo the way Charles Corsi and Sean Cahill have been playing, but both teams have a ton of offense. For the Stangs, they add in Cody Hanson tonight who will make his Melfort debut likely on a line with former teammate Brayden Metz.
As for the Klippers they are coming off two big road games that saw solid 60 minute efforts from the entire squad. Alot of rookies stepped and and played big minutes, but a couple may have to sit out tonight. Andrew Dommett has rejoined the team after recovering from the flu. He will rejoin Adamyk and Calkins on the top line. The rest of the lines are a question mark. Sanfred King is a game time decision and if he goes he will likely be reunited with D Jay McGrath. The question mark is will Wheaton King join his brother on that line. Wheaton has looked great with Adamyk and Calkins but could very well find himself with Sanfred and D Jay if Sanfred is ready to go tonight.
Two players who won’t play tonight are Spencer Braaten and Zane Morin. Zane has joined the club but it sounds like Rockie wants to get him into a practice before he throws him in the mix. The way Rogers and Haaf have played the past two games, it would be tough to sit one of those two out. As for Braaten he is still about a week away.
For the Klippers to win tonight it will once again take a full sixty minute effort. Their special teams will need to continue to play well, especially their penalty kill which has been money of late.
