Well I am back in action after a nice long week off in Edmonton. As Rockie Zinger likes to say, a chance to recharge the batteries. I know he refers to his players when he makes that comment, but it's a long season even for a broadcaster. It felt good to get home, spend some time with my buddies who were all for the most part on reading week from University. A week off with the boys, and its safe to say alot of partying was done, but I am all partied out for now and ready to embark on the playoff run with the Kindersley Klippers which will get going at home this Friday.
I will get to a in depth playoff preview and full playoff prediction once the survivor series have completed. Both those series are knotted at 1-1 and could go either way at this point.
For today I will just run through a few things I missed.
- The Klippers closed off the season with a very good performance over Battlefords blowing them out at home 9-2.
- As I had mentioned on the blog while on holidays, D Jay McGrath had been given some tough news from the doctors. He will need surgery and be out for the entire playoffs. I will try and catch up with D Jay sometime this week to see how he is doing.
- In a few other Klipper tidbits, Kurt Leedahl had been named the SJHL defense man of the month for February.
From the SJHL release:
"The 1990 born blueliner from Saskatoon helped the Klippers try to chase down the Yorkton Terriers for first place in the final month of the season. While the Klippers were unable to do so, Leedahl played perhaps his best hockey of the season. If Leedahl can continue playing at the level he did in February during the playoffs, he will make life miserable for many forwards across the league."
- The final CJHL top 20 rankings were released and the Klippers recieved an honorable mention. The only SJHL team to crack the list was La Ronge who ranked 11th spot. It mind boggles me that only one SJHL team cracked the top 20. Yorkton was also a honorable mention on the list.

- While I was on holidays, Craig Stein had come up with a brillant idea for a SJHL broadcasters poll/survey.
Despite being on holidays their was no way I was going to pass up participating in this poll.
Here are the rules and here are my picks below. The full results for the consensus choices can be seen at Craig Steins blog here : Consensus Picks
8 SJHL Play-by-Play announcers took part in a random poll about players, coaches, rinks, and food!
Everyone picked their top three choices for every category, with 1st place votes earning 3 points, 2nd place votes getting 2 points, while 1 point went to 3rd place votes.
The maximum any individual could get is 24 points.
As a rookie broadcaster it was hard to conduct a survey like this only seeing a hanful of the teams four times. My picks are based on what I have seen in the games I have called this season for the most part.
