Klippers Hosting Melfort Tonight... Game Notes

First off, I am back in action tonight and will be calling the web cast. I had to attend to some family matters this past weekend, and was unable to do Saturdays web cast against Yorkton. I left the web cast in the hands of D Jay McGrath and Jesse Mysiorek who by all reports were able to set everything up and the web cast video worked out well.

First game I have missed all season so please forgive me ha, anyways it sounded like it was a fairly exciting game. I will chat with Rockie more in detail in the pre game show interview on the web cast all about the overtime win against Yorkton.

Before we get to a few game notes, the SJHL power rankings have come out for this week. The Kindersley Klippers have climbed up to second after sitting last week at fourth spot.  Here is the top 5, the rest can be checked out on the SJHL website....

1.       La Ronge Ice Wolves – A nine game win streak shows this team is ready to start defending its league championship in earnest. They will be hard to beat.

2.       Kindersley Klippers – The Klippers aren’t going down without a fight when it comes to who finishes 1st in the Sherwood Conference. If the season went into mid-March, the Klippers might have caught Yorkton for first—then again, they still might before this season ends.

3.       Humboldt Broncos – Those who thought the Broncos were dead after the January 10 trade deadline had better start thinking again. Don’t be surprised to see this team make some noise come playoff time.

4.       Weyburn Red Wings – The Wings have got to find a way to win at home. It really has been their Achilles heel in the 2nd half of the season. A win over Estevan at CPP last Saturday would have likely given them 3rd in the Sherwood.

5.       Yorkton Terriers – The Terriers lost all three of their games this week which won’t have Trent Cassan in a good mood as the season comes to an end.

Onto Tonight's Contest : I don't really have a whole lot of time today to write a full in depth game preview but here is a few notes on tonight's game....

- Well only three games left for Kindersley, and at this point in the season you would think Rockie Zinger might want to rest some of his top gunners, but the fact that the Klippers still do have a shot at first place you have to go for it.

- In terms of Melfort, I don't know what exactly to expect. They have had a few injures to a few key players like Mitch Berg and Brayden Metz. They aren't going anywhere in the Bauer standings and will finish second regardless of how they play in their final four games of the regular season. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few key players sit out tonight for the Mustangs. It sound's like Darrel Mann is very concerned about having a healthy team come playoffs, but his team is really struggling at this point in time and I am sure he would like to get his team some positive momentum heading into the playoffs.

- For Kindersley their chances at first keep getting a bit better game in and game out. It still is a long shot to get first place but if the Klippers can manage to run the table and Yorkton gets one or no points in their final two games the Klippers will end up first.

- I will post lineups when I get to the rink from both clubs, catch the web cast starting with pre game at 7:10 PM at http://www.livesportsvideo.com/golive/goliveevents.asp?q=KindersleyKlippers
