Friday Quick Hits

A few quick hits on your Friday

- How about those Riders!!! Is it safe to say that Saskatchewan sports fans can't wait for the hockey season to start?

- I don't want to rub it in a whole lot because I am afraid that my Edmonton Eskimos could be on the verge of dropping their third straight contest tonight. They are down 4 of their starting WR's and 2 linemen for tonight's contest. Injuries aren't an excuses because every team has them but I would have to admit I am leaning towards B.C tonight. I really think Lulay will have a breakthrough game with his new target Arland Bruce leading the way.

- The Klippers exhibition game against LaRonge in Battleford has been cancelled. The game had been scheduled for Sept.9th.

- It's a very exciting time in Kindersley as all the boys are starting to arrive in town. I have been in contact with a few of the guys and they can't wait to get the season started. I must say all of the players I have seen are in great shape!

- The majority of the team will actually be in town this weekend as the Klippers are putting on the towns annual street dance. They are raising money for the teams scholarship fund. Great idea by the Klippers to step up and host the event, getting involved around the community is great and it will allow some of the fans to meet some of the players. I will also be helping out by manning the grill from midnight until 2 AM, cooking up burgers and hot dogs. Feel free to stop by and chat!

- The vote on my blog has come to an end today. D Jay McGrath is who the fans think will be the teams leading goal scorer with 20% of the votes. Many of you may remember that McGrath was kept out of the final chunk of the season last year and also all of the playoffs due to a knee injury. At this point in time it is unknown if McGrath will be ready to go come opening night, but one things for sure is he has worked extremely hard this off season. He is in great shape and his knee is getting alot stronger which could be a scary thing for the other 11 SJHL clubs.

- I hope to have a new poll up on Monday. This question will be where do you think the Klippers will finish in the Sherwood division this season?

Camp is only 12 days away meaning things will likely be picking up on the blog over the next few weeks so check back. Have a good weekend!!!

  2. The problem with the Riders is they have yet to wear the retro helmets with the old "S". Hey, at this point it can't hurt. Maybe the GM should have done a better job recruiting?

The Eskimos are as cold as the mountain on a Coors Light can except their helmets don't change color!

  5. If you missed Greg Marshall's press conference today let's just say things are not rosie in Riderville! He was not a happy camper. He showed more intensity in 5 minutes than he di in 8 games on the sidelines.

  7. Last word was if he doesn't stick in the Dub he was committed to playing for the Klippers. He would be a good fit in the lineup.

Speaking of players, is there any update on Dane Muench showing up at camp?

With these 2 players on the roster the Klippers could surprise some teams this year.

Finally a message for Downer - you have the rest of your life to work! Hope to see the Bash Bros stirring it up at the WCEC again this year!

  9. To the last poster, it's hard to say, he is very skilled but his size might hurt him a bit. The thing is he has always battled his size. He is tailor made for the SJ.
