Klippers # 1 Line Shines In 6-2 Win Over Nipawin

With the Credit Union Cup and League President Laury Ryan in attendance the Kindersley Klippers came out like storm troopers in the opening twenty minutes of action.

The trio of Dommett, Calkins and Adamyk continued to shine combining for ten points on the night. The three players have elevated their games to an entire new level of late. Johnny Calkins lead the way last night, with a goal and three apples to extend his point streak to 13 games. Calkins has been on an absolute tear to say the least over the past month. He now has 13 goals, 21 assists for 34 points during a 13 game span. Without a doubt he has been the best player in the SJHL over the past couple months.

Captain Andrew Dommett is really starting to pile up the points as well for the Klippers. He has a very impressive point streak running right now aswell with 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points over a 12 game span.

As for Braeden Adamyk, he is scoring a ton of goals. He reached the 30 goal plateau last night tallying twice. I would say 40 is in reach the way the SJHL player of the week is scoring of late.

The way these three players have been playing together is just a beautiful thing to watch. Some of the passing plays they are making just leave you with your jaw dropped and left wide open.

The Klippers as a whole looked great in the first 20 minutes, but either appeared to let up a bit after that, or Nipawin just got their legs going. The Hawks were likely a very tired bunch but held their own in the final forty minutes. They only had 10 forwards dressed last night and were playing back to back road games. Kevin Edgerton eluded to after the game on last nights webcast that he wasn't very pleased with the effort of the team in the second and third periods, and felt like they will need to play better against Estevan on Friday at home.

A few other notes, the brother act made its first appearance in Kindersley last night when Sanfred King drew back in to the lineup to center his brother Wheaton King and D Jay Mcgrath. I thought the trio was very effective together. D Jay Mcgrath had 2 helpers on the night, one that came down low on the cycle with Wheaton King who then feathered a perfect pass in front to Sanfred King who slid one home five hole. D Jay has great chemistry with both King brothers and once the Kings brother get a bit more comfortable with each other that line should be huge for the Klippers down the stretch.

Rookie netminder Justin McDonald got the start for Kindersley and made 25 saves for his 4th win of the season.

The Klippers are now only four points back of Yorkton with a game in hand for first place in the Sherwood.

Kindersley has three huge divisional matchups ahead with Estevan Friday and Saturday and then Yorkton on Tuesday.
