Klippers And Humboldt Game Notes

Well first off the Kindersley Klippers dropped to 4th in the SJHL power rankings for this week behind La Ronge, Yorkton, Melfort.

Pretty hard to argue with that, considering the Klippers have dropped two in a row and have fallen out of the first place hunt in the Sherwood Division. Now they are not mathematically out but they will likely need to run the table and get alot of help from other teams that will play Yorkton in the final five games. They are seven points back with only five games left on the season.

Onto tonight's game against the Humboldt Broncos.

- One this is for sure you can bet your ass that the Klippers will not be taking Humboldt lightly after what happened on February 1st in Humboldt when the Broncos scored 3 in the final 5 minutes to take down the Klips.

- Humboldt is also rolling of late and has won their past four contests. I have had a chance to see the Broncos play twice since they dealt all their 20 year olds at the deadline and they are still a very scary bunch. Their young players have been given more and more ice time and are really starting to get comfortable and fill their roles.

- Humboldt is really starting to close the gap on the North Stars for home ice in the first round of the playoffs. A win tonight could really ice out the Stars from catching them.

- For Kindersley the last time these two teams met, they were decimated with injuries. Six regulars were out of the lineup up front. Tonight they will have Spencer Braaten, Wheaton King, Riley Down and Justin Gerwing all available. The two that still remain out are D Jay McGrath and Jesse Mysiorek. I know both players had spent time in Edmonton for re hab and are getting better each day.

- It will be interesting to see how the Klippers approach tonight's game. Will they still have that fire to try and catch Yorkton for first place? or will they play it cautious and accept the fact that they will likely finish 2nd spot in the Sherwood.  A win tonight and a Yorkton lose could make Saturdays game in Kindersley between the two teams interesting.

- Rockie Zinger has an interesting approach for his club over the next five games. He says these next 5 games and the past 2 loses will be treated like a 7 game playoff series. He says his team is down 0-2 and wants to see how his team will fight back treating it like a playoff series.

- One thing the Klippers need to improve on is their power play. They have fallen to seventh in the SJHL and went 0/8 on Saturday against Weyburn. Getting Calkins back from the flu will certainly help the PP tonight.

Here is the Klippers likely lineup tonight

Dommett-Calkins-Adamyk
W.King-S.King-Braaten
Duzan - Hoffman - Morin
Wasden - Elliot - Down

This is what I have heard, but can't fully confirm as of yet

Sonntag - Haaf
Leedahl - Flanagan
Lund - Rogers

Cahill
McDonald
