Klippers Lose Back To Back Games For First Time SInce Nov.30th

First off in terms of the intensity of this game, it was nowhere near what I had expected. I had thought the bad blood would have carried over into this game from last Fridays and it clearly didn’t. Last Friday in Weyburn both teams were playing desperate hockey, finishing their hits every shift and the teams developed a hated for each other. For whatever reason that didn’t appear to be the case last night at the WCEC. I'm not saying it wasn’t an entertaining game, but I just was hoping for these two teams  hatred for each other to boil even more. I guess you could say after getting a taste for playoff hockey on the road this past weekend, I am eager for the SJHL playoffs.

The Klippers fired 59 shots Mitch Kilgore’s way but couldn’t really solve him until the third period when they started getting bodies out in front and deflecting shots through traffic. The Klippers should of certainly had more than one goal heading into the third period, but at times last night they lacked that desperation to score that key goal. The power play wasn’t very good last night, how much of that had to do with Johnny Calkins not on the pp is a valid question, but when you have 8 chances on the power play you have to score.

You do have to applaud the Klippers for coming back from a 4-1 hole with under 20 minutes to go. They really turned their game on and managed to claw back and get an important point in a game that looked to be fading away from them.

For Spencer Braaten, he was pretty impressive in his Klipper debut. The guy hadn`t played in two months, and really was buzzing all game long. He fired about 8 shots of his own on Killgore and he has a really strong hard shot for a little guy. Once Braaten gets his legs and conditioning in game shape he will be a huge asset for the Klippers in the final few games and into the playoffs. Braaten also added an apple on Braeden Adamyks goal to tie the game and send it to OT.

As for the Klippers team, yes they lost two games in a row, but is it a big deal?

No it`s not something to lose sleep over, but the Klippers do need to find a way to put together a full sixty minute effort in their final 5 games of the season. Yorkton has now climbed to 5 points up on Kindersley with a game in hand and the Klippers may need to win out right to catch Yorkton.

Here is the full boxscore from last night`s game....

Here is head coach Rockie Zinger. He starts out talking about the dissapointment of only getting one point after a coming back from a 3 goal whole...
