Klippers Looking For Billets For The Upcoming Season

Well it's that time of the summer!

Training camp is drawing near and the players need a place to stay. Hoping to get a further update soon on how many billets the team actually still needs. This will be addressed at an upcoming meeting, and so forth but for now here is the information on becoming a billet. Check back later today, I have had a few requests on the blog on how the new rink is looking. I will post a few pics here shortly.

The Kindersley Klippers Are Looking For Billets For The Upcoming Season
As a billet, you will have the support and guidance of our Head Coach Rockie Zinger and Billet Coordinator Connie Elliott for any questions or issues which may arise.

What Do Players Need :
- A place to sleep
- Meals
- Snacks for road trips

When Do Players Arrive And Leave ?
Camp begins at the end of August. The season typically end late February plus playoffs. During Christmas break the players will go back to their homes. If you go on holidays or have family coming to visit, we'll find another home for your player during those periods of time.

What Financial Assistance Is Available ?
The Kindersley Klipper Booster Club pays $350.00 per player payable to billet family at the end of the month.

How Do You Find Out Who Is Involved?
At socials, billets get to know each other, the coaching staff, the players, get to discuss other topics and get to have fun!

Billeting Is A Great Way  To Help Mentor And Guide These Young Men. You Become Their Home Away From Home
The players are expected to become a member of the household, responsible to help with daily chores, to clean their rooms, to do their own laundry and manage their own meals when the situation arises. These gentlemen also have a strict schedule that is set by the coach which includes practices, workouts, game day routines, and in some cases either attending school classes, volunteering, or part-time employment. Further, the coach sets a curfew which every player must live by.

It Is Rewarding, Fun And You Get Back What You Put Into IT!
The Kindersley Klippers can't exist without the tremendous generosity and support of our billets and community.

Please give some thought into billeting or if you know of someone who might be interested call,

  1. Would like to comment on the special people that open their homes to these young players.

My Mom billeted Saskatoon Blade players for 10+ years and those boys thought of her and treated her like a second mother. I am convinced that they enjoyed their junior hockey careers just a bit more knowing that they had a good place to call "home".

Our son has been very fortunate to stay with the McDonald's for his two seasons with the Klippers and they have been kind enough to invite him back for his final year. As parents that means a great deal to us.

Thank you to all the current billets and we hope that others will consider opening their door to the Klipper players this year!

  2. Very well said Ken. We agree completely. We would like to thank Tracey and Quinn Watt for being Jordon's home away from home in Kindersley these last two years and Rod and Joyce Munn from North Battleford for his two midget years.

Knowing that he has become part of both of these families is one more of the perks of hockey. Thanks again.
